My Rant against spammy reviewers on brickset.

This problem first occurred during my first days of Eurobricks lurking. Brickset is a wonderful site with lots of useful features. But in my opinion the "Top Reviewers List" is not. Now, in the middle of all the good, helpful reviews are a bunch crappy spam reviews that kids use to get to the All Time Top Review Slot. These spammers review sets that they obviosly don't have, and they do things like give a set an automatic five just because they like the theme. But there is hope. Brickset has made it so kids can't post things like "Kool dis set rockz!!!11!!". And maybe soon a new generation of reviewers will work hard to make quality reviews as best as they can. Believe me, as bad as it has gotten, there is still hope for Brickset.com.

Its really sad what it's come too frankly. I think the top reviewers slot was the worst Idea there ever. Sure it gets people to review more. But the reviews they write to get on the top are utterly WORTHLESS.

'This set has 3 figs and nice parts really nice if you like legos you'll like this set get it"

Except with worse grammar and less useful.

I actually emailed one of the worst spammers on the whole site about how utterlly useless his reviews were, I didnt even read the response though :-| (I probably couldnt with all the grammar mistakes)

But yeah. I dislike brickset spammers.

I agree that reviews like that are very unhelpful and makes the reviewer come across as a dimwit. If enough people brought this issue to Brickset's attention they may amend their review system to force reviewers to write higher quality of reviews.

I once complained to Amazon.com that many of the reviews for a particular product were completely unhelpful. They actually told me my input was very helpful and the deleted the useless reviews. However this was only a one off event as I checked the product reviews a couple of months later and there new unhelpful reviews. So it may require some persistence to ensure permanent action is taken.
