Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed the campus for the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he was also the dean of the school of architecture for a number of years. The best-known building on IIT's campus, and one of Mies's most famous buildings, is Crown Hall. The building expresses its structure so honestly that it is a beautiful example of Mies's aphorism "less is more", and doesn't employ curtain walls simply for their own sake like certain other buildings do. Here is my take on Crown Hall:
