Hi everybody,

It's been quite hectic for me over the past 3 months, but I finally got some time to build over the Easter break. I wanted to see if I could build a small RC vehicle using the cargo plane's back wheels (42025). I settled on a truck as it was the easiest vehicle to fit all the PF components in. Below is the result.

Specs

- 1x L motor at 1:1.33

- 1x Servo

- functional hood

- functional doors

- battery access at back

- working front lights

- 28Lx11Wx11H (chassis, in studs)

- 588g

The truck is 4 studs smaller in width (11W vs 15W) compared to what I'm used to and it certainly presented some interesting challenges. It's loosely based on a GMC truck. It's not perfect, but for its size I'm quite happy with it. Unfortunately due to the small size of the wheels, I had to use a 2 stud high technic part from 20 years ago for steering (part 4261). I don't believe there's any new parts that can accommodate this (Please let me know if there is!).

Once again, any feedback is appreciated.

Nice job. Quick question though.... How come you developed your moc based on the wheels? Just because of availability? Kinda different to base a whole model on the wheels.... Unless there is some wow factor about them (like those in the ucs tumbler or new drag racer.......)Which.... With those in question, there is not

Wow, it is really a small build, nice color scheme!

I really like the colour scheme too, it took a bit of fiddling around to get it to look right.

Nice truck. I would add fuel tanks to the side and move exhaust also from back to side. :)

Thanks for the input. I didn't have the right parts for the fuel tank so I left it off (I don't have a huge amount of parts), but I had no idea where to put the exhaust as it wasn't on the blueprints I was using. The exhaust is a bit too big for the truck anyway :)

I'm just a novice with technic, but I always choose the wheels first before starting a MOC. I find them to be the most difficult part to get right, so the entire model gets scaled around the wheels when using blueprints. The wheels aren't particularly special, I just wanted to see if I could create a RC MOC using them.

Love it, very well done... Next would be a the A-Team fan...

 maybe... I thought my model looked a little bit A-Team-esque (my wife doesn't think so though)

Nice small truck) I really love all that small lego things)

*snip*

This part is modern counterpart. It may be braced between half-beams, but beams need to be secured.

Thanks for the input. I might experiment a bit more to see if I can remove the old parts in the model.

I like it.

Thanks mate.

Another great compact and dense build! I love all them (but especially the MiniTruck).

You really inspired me to go for such fun small but challenging builds... I have plans in my head... and 2 Minizip cables on my desk. :classic:

I like the underbody. But I feel like it needs a trunk door :D !

Quite possibly. I experimented with the back of the truck opening correctly, but it was the wrong colour and I didn't like the look. I wanted a simplistic back which matched the sides of the truck. This decision was form over function :)

Thanks for the nice comments agrof! I'm happy I've inspired someone. There's so many builders on this site that's inspired my builds. Hopefully we'll see some small MOC's of yours in the near future :classic: .

Oh, if anyone's interested, I've worked out I can change the steering mechanism from this part 4261.png to these parts. 4114671.jpg4114670.jpg

However, it's changes the horizontal alignment by 1/2 stud so I can't easily put it into this model.

Gotcha. Youre right that often the wheels are the hardest part in scaling..... I was just wondering b/c usually in smaller models there is much more variety in Lego wheels so it is not so much an issue as in the larger models. But, either way your MOC looks great. Well done :classic:

Thanks nerdsforprez. That's a good point about the smaller wheels, there's defintely more choice with smaller size differences.

Really nice and compact van  Cat in the video is just fantastic  Good job again my friend, you are talented!

Thanks for the comments MacKaiwer, I appreciate it. The cat in the video was purely an accident, the cat walked into the shot and started playing with it!
