I keep getting excited when I see this thread pop up! When is the earliest that people think we'll hear some official news about series 16?

Would D23 in August be too early for an announcement?

Yes, it's definitely too early yet. The simpsons series 2 molds leaked last year around October/November, I expect the same for the Disney cmf molds. An official announcement has to wait until march next year.

Talking about the Simpsons, they had also a set for every series yet, what do you guys think? Could we expect the same for Disney? And if so, which building? I'm thinking about Scrooge his money bin since it's the most iconic building in Duckburg (the ducktales version), but Lilo and stitch their home is also a possibility (if we get figures from them). I don't think we will get mickey mouse his clubhouse since that's maybe a little childish set and duplo is already focusing on that. The last possibility I come up with is the Disney castle, but the castle is different in every single Disney park and there isn't much playability. The treehouse from the rescue rangers is also possible, but they will maybe wait with that until the movie is out.

IF a Lego set is released with the Disney CMF Series, I would expect it to be a Disneyland Castle. Probably Sleeping Beauty's castle from Disneyland Los Angeles.

My reasoning would be that I expect a Disney CMF Series to be a broad mixture of characters and one of the only "sets" that I can think of which would be suitable to mix a broad range of Disney characters would be something tied to the theme parks since all of the characters exist and (to a limited extent) interact at the theme parks. And if it's going to be something from a theme park, then I think the castle is the most iconic image. As for it being Sleeping Beauty's castle, well it was the first and it could tie into the 60th anniversary celebrations/merchandising.

I think Sleeping Beauty's castle would have playability, with a working drawbridge, throne room, etc. It wouldn't have to replicate the same "walk-through" attraction which is at the theme park itself.

EDIT: I will admit to substantial bias towards a Disneyland castle as it is one of my dream Lego sets!

XD, I have the same with the money bin, its my dream set for I don't know how long already.

Also, last time I forgot to mention a few popular original Disney themes. Darkwing Duck and Kim possible for example, but their TV shows (especially darkwing duck) ended already a few years ago, so maybe they won't do them. A other theme is Phineas and Ferb, but when the Lego comes out it already had it's series final, Idk if that's a big deal, I surely don't hope it would be. It still has the biggest chance of the 3 I have mentioned.

And don't forget gyro, little helper, horace (Clara her husband). Idk if they will get a new flipper foot mold, they will probably go with the regular leg mold, maybe with the scuba flippers like they did with Howard the duck in the Lego marvel game or daffy duck/ green loontern in Lego batman 3. This characters give be the best idea of what to expect from the Disney characters.

Yes, I'm hoping for Gyro too! I always preferred him over Prof. Von Drake. I doubt they would do Helper and Horace though.

And yes, that's how I think they will do the duck feet too, although I would prefer a new mold.

I love to see the handbook.

They could even include their Junior Woodchucks caps since we got a racoon skin cap in the TLM CMFs.

I'm with you on the money bin, but I also think it would be the Disneyland castle.

And as much as I would love Darkwing and Kim Possible figs, I also doubt they would do them now. P&F would be a possibility though, since their show ended only recently and Disney is still selling lots of merchandise for it.

By the way, click here to see how I think they could do the Inside Out emotions. [/shameless self promotion]

I'm thinking the same way about gyro. And indeed Horace probably won't get a figure, but I meaned when clara gets one (what I also don't think) he will probably gets one too. About little helper however I don't agree, I see him as a small object coming with gyro his minifigure.

Your inside out set looks nice btw. Are you thinking about doing a bing bong too?

Yes, although I'm not sure if I should add him to that project or make a separate one. I don't think he would fit into that scene.

That's abit debatable. Even for Simpsons, I don't think LEGO really try to milk this license by making more iconic buildings, suppose that we won't see more Simpsons CMF.

As for Disney, uh, that would go back to theDisney Princess issue since it is still somewhat a regular theme but arguably not giving some minifigures. Of course, if that theme doesn't really have plans for some other non-girls-oriented stories, hopefully we can see some like Sleeping Beauty Castle or Clubhouse. Only if it can release more than one set.

Before possible LEGO entry, this is a sad fact that LEGO Channel originals are still blooming and obviously most of them are too minor to enter some Disney's major crossover like their own Disney Infinity, hence their chance to be in LEGO sets or CMF series is similarly small.

The only part that is relevent with LEGO would be the cancellation of Phineas's Games set.

I really hope that Captain Hook, Jafar, Frollo, Hades, Maleficent and Ursula eventually are made. In fact a Disney villains wave and a Disney heroes wave would be cool. Those are like the most iconic Disney villains, I'd say scar also but he'd be more likely to be a moulded creature.

They could recolor the ghost from Scooby-Doo and give us the phantom blot.

Yeah, but again, I don't think they would do any of the European comics characters.

Are these going to have moulded heads?

I think a better question is why wouldn't they?

Good idea. They could do mostly good guys for most of the year and make a wave focused on Disney villains for Halloween. Also, you forgot Cruella Deville.

I think it's possible to get Joy in this series, since the Zombie Businessman hair looks like a good fit.

Like I said in the other thread, I disagree. It's combed the wrong way and is missing the hair standing up in the back.

Sadly, no news from D23...

I would think if they did anything like that it'd just be half of each wave is heroes and the other half is villains. Maybe even in pairs, like 8 different movies' heroes and villains.

First of all, the phantom blot isn't officially an European comic character, he first appeared in an American comic. But he was an old character and not the most well known or important. And the Americans stopped making these comics and the Europeans use him still very much in their comics. He made a few years ago a comeback, this time known as the shadow blot in epic Mickey. He is actually an very interesting character and one of my favourite mickey mouse villains. Completely useless information, but just wanted to let you guys know :p. Still I don't think we would get him as an minifigure, not many people outside of Europe know him and he's still way to unimportant. Still hoping we will ever get an black variant of the scooby doo ghost so we could make him custom.

Now something else, we've had a lot of leaks lately, about bigger and smaller sets coming next year. However, we haven't heared anything about this series anymore. It starts to worry me. I'm still holding on to my earlier predictions about leaks coming in October/November. We'll just have to wait and see (something I'm really bad in ): )

Phantom Blot is an American creation. He was created by Floyd Gottfredson for an american Mickey mouse comic strip story line in the forties.

Yes, I know. I meant a character that is currently only being used in comics in Europe and is not very well known outside of that.

My bad, I forgot cruella!!!

I kind of like that idea could be something like: Hercules, Hades, Aladdin, Jafar, Quasimodo, Frollo, Peter Pan, Hook, Philip, Maleficent, Pongo, Cruella, Simba, Scar, Beast, Gaston. Only problems we start to hit is that the beast would probably have to be a big fig or specially molded as would samba/scar. Then theres the female figures, I mean personally i'd like to see a lot of the characters in proper minifig form, i'm not particularly a fan of the friends figures, the faces on those are a bit generic and don't really capture the personalities of the characters and they are too tall compared to regular MFs so I think an ideal wave would be a mix of heroes, villains and princesses all in the classic lego scale not the friends one.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this project. As much as I would love to have some classic Disney characters in proper minifig form, their animated canon alone is huge and they never seem to know how to properly merchandise it. I'm worried that either the character selection will be stupid, or the figures will look horrible, or both. You want Hercules and Hades? Good freakin' luck; Disney doesn't even seem to remember that they made that movie. Ditto for almost anything animated that isn't Pixar and doesn't feature a Princess in a leading role. You figure at least we'll get Maleficent and Jafar to go with the Princess sets? Good freakin' luck again; they don't like making playable toys of the Villains from their fairy tales...because girls don't like conflict and adventure and good vs. evil, y'see. Y'see?

Would these be minifigures or mini dolls because the Princesses are minidolls?

It makes sense to me to have minidolls, since they're already doing minidoll Disney characters in the Disney Princess line, and this would offer something to go with them, while still allowing the DP sets to remain princess-focused and conflict-free, as Disney apparently wants to keep them. I'd also begun to wonder whether LEGO might begin offering blind-bagged minidolls anyway; it seems a reasonable step to take, given the increasing importance of minidoll themes alongside the minifigure ones.

Is this (a blind-bagged Disney figure line, whether minifigures or minidolls) definitely happening? Has there been anything other than that suspiciously-dated initial report to go on?
