Jabbabob Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I'm trying to decide. what should I (once I have the money) make? I've thought of the army of Napolean (I know I spelled it wrong)or the EITC or just plain old india (I'm semi-patriotic! I'm half indian!) Please help me decide. Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 An army of the EITC you say? Wasn't that a trade company? Or did you mean something else? Quote
Stauder Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Tiber, Im guessing hes reffreing to the one from POTC :-) Stauder Quote
Tordenskjold Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Old India sounds cool to me . how old are you thinking of? the one with native soldiers and british officers or older with only native in it? would anyway be a new army (i havent seen any Indian Army made in lego before) An army of France or UK would be expencive to buildt as the soldiers are about 5.5usd pr minifig so a indian or East India Trading company army would perhaps be cheaper to get ?? El Bucanero Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Tiber, Im guessing hes reffreing to the one from POTC :-)Stauder Okay auder, thank you! Hmmm, I don't think the EITC had an army in real.. just a stupid thing from POTC. In case you're reffering to the POTC army, I'd suggest you not do it. It's better to make a realistic Napoleonic army in my opinion. Although that could be mighty expensive.. In case you're reffering to a trade fleet for the EITC I say yes!! I'd love to see something like that! *wub* What do you mean with old India exactly? Something wich has got to do something with pirates or not? Anyway, you should choose what you like best! *y* Quote
Stauder Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) Okay auder, Guzuntight. (Or however thats spelled :-P ) By old India I gess he means , where the English Battled Locals... (My Guess) (Ps - Oh and Is MISTER Stauder to you :-P) Stauder ;-) Edited November 15, 2007 by Stauder Quote
SlyOwl Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I'd go for the EITC; too many classic Imperialists around! :-P I am lead to believe that the EITC, although mainly a royally commissioned trading company, did have an army; yes, in POTC, but at one point it also controlled most of India. Other examples of its army's brutality are mentioned in The Ruby In The Smoke (by Philip Pullman) when they kill the main character's father in an uprising, or something along those lines... It'd be interesting to see: do you plan to use custom or official torsos? Quote
Admiral_Wig Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 East india company had a huge army. N it wasnt just india. Go for east indian trading company army. Quote

Indian Mutiny. They were basically just Indians in british uniform. With guns. Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 why don't you try a Dutch vessel? I mean a VOC ship or Dutch Marine Battle ship? Like HMS Batavia or HMS De Zeven Provinci Quote
SirNadroj Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'd say EITC! *y* Guzuntight. (Or however thats spelled :-P ) Gesundheit, I think. (I'm in the process of learning German for no reason, and I was surprised to see it spelled with a 'd' and not a 't'. ;-) ) Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted November 18, 2007 Governor Posted November 18, 2007 I saw East India Trading Company too! Why? Because I like their logo X-D Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Yes, Dutch ships are cool, have you ever build one?You can use the conquistadors and other MF's to create armymen. And then they can fight the locals and win! VOC on!! Yeah I builded some when I had the first Pirate ship (nr. 6268) with own made mid-hull sections. Mostly tried to make "klippers" and something that looked much like a "man-o-war". I will start on new ships soon tho, maybe Dutch vessels. But I have to move to a new house first ;-) Yeah they are pretty cool, even back then the strongest navy there was. Even if there were not that many ships as France and England had. Dutch ships were usually an example to most earopean countries like Spain, France , England and Germany. This is not a known fact since The Netherlands was not really a country back then, it were just some provinces that went under the same flag and fought together as 1. (see my flag picture, it's called the "Prinsen flag" or "Prince flag" roughly translated. Also have a link to wiki of the Dutch land in that time. Spain and Holland/Belgium were actually allies in that time which caused bad times for England and France! :-D :-P ) I saw East India Trading Company too! Why? Because I like their logo X-D Yeah, East india Company (in Dutch VOC "Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie") is kinda cool. Merchants that know how to beat up military ships bad time! :-P Everyone in that time was affraid of the Dutch ships and usually attacked with atleast half as much ships which can be translated in "Attacking Dutch ships are bad for your health!" Also there is a bad side to the Dutch history, there was another group called WIC ("West India Company") which was busy with slaves (sorry for all the victims, can't change history unfortunatly). They used to capture people from countries like Africa and transport them to the "new world" (which became the US later). All slaves were chained under decks and hardly fed which coused a lot of deaths. All dead slaves were trown over board and the survivors were sold (well, that part you all probably know by now). Here some links that might be usefull: Official VOC knowlage center (in Dutch) Wikipedia link (VOC) Wikipedia (WIC) IF you guys need any more info, I might be able to get it since i'm Dutch ;-) Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 You know your history Voodoo Hand! *y* But why does your sig say Belgica Foederate when you're Dutch..?? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 20, 2007 Governor Posted November 20, 2007 East india Company (in Dutch VOC "Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie") is kinda cool. Ahhhhhhh so that's why I've seen it referred to as VOC. I've also learnt there's also two different East India companies, the Dutch East India Company which we've been discussing and the Honourable East India Company which was British. Quote
