Governor Mister Phes Posted April 22, 2005 Governor Posted April 22, 2005 Metal Slug... One of the greast platform games in existence. I prefer the 2D side scrolling platform games over the myriad of 3D games that have been released since the mid 90's. Metal Slug series entered the arcade gaming scene in 1996 and became a instant classic. The first two sequels were brilliant, each better than the last. But alas, by Metal Slug 4 things began going down hill.. 5 wasn't really an improvement over 4... They have been released on some console systems, but they're probably not quite as good as the arcade originals. Which of course can be emulated in Windows. Has anyone played any of the Metal Slug games? Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Metal Slug is ace. I was thinking about getting the GBA version. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 22, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 22, 2005 I haven't played the GBA version, probably becaus I don't own a GBA and I have yet to seen a Windows emulator for it. I've seen screen shots of MS GBA and it looks like Metal Slug 5 except the levels are different. I'm curious to know what its like. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 23, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 23, 2005 I first playing Metal Slug 2 then X back in 1999 when my friend Morgs was playing it in the RMIT cafeteria arcade. We started playing two player games and I quickly became adicted. I was no good at it back then, but now I can get to the end of level 4 without dying once. Or could when I was playing it every day. Sarg_Kulo Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I played it in 1999 in Jersey in this arcade room. Itshared a machine with another game so after I had played it I put another 50 in only to get this otehr crappy game come up. Great. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 24, 2005 Cabinets sharing games? Never encountered that before! No matter, since then I've discovered MAME... Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 It was shared with a completly different game aswell. It was a puzzle game where you had to get some balls the same colour next to each other. Some girl trash liek that :P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 24, 2005 How does sharing work anyway? Not too effectively if you accidentally selected the wrong game. Unless you were that young were also too dopey to know what you were doing... Quote

Unless you were that young were also too dopey to know what you were doing... It was a combination of both I think. I was only about 7 or something. Anyway it basiically showed a video from on game and then the other. Wateva video was playing when you put your money was the game you played. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 24, 2005 That doesn't sound like a reliable method of selecting the game. Were these people too cheap to afford two cabients? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted April 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 24, 2005 Cheap and lazy! Have these people no shame? Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 It was in a cheap hotle that was trying to look expensive ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 24, 2005 What were you doing in a cheap hotel? Or shouldn't I be asking? Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Most expensive hotel in Jersey. It was just cheap in some places though ;) The junk food was deeeeelicious. Anyway metal slug owns Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 26, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 26, 2005 And you remember this so vividly... Like it was yesterday? Or the day before? Quote
zero1312 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I've played every Metal Slug game except the 3D and handheld ones. ;-) They're kickass. *wub* Quote
AgentRick Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Metal Slug, what a classic. Beat through the 4th one in the arcade when I was about 11 8- Quote
Plural Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I've wasted a lot of money on these games. And yet I still don't care. I own the anthology on my PSP and I ofen play it when I'm in a nostaligic mood. Quote
Brickadier General Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Definitely one of the greatest arcade game series ever. I have the 1st game for Sega Saturn and the Anthology for PSP and enjoy playing them from time to time. Quote

BlueBard Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I played MS I, II and III at that old video-games machines when I was younger and I finished the three! LOL BTW, does anyone know where can I download it without spywares and without downloading a lot of software or things like that? Quote
Norrington Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Yeah, there's a skiing resort my family goes to, and it has a machine with all the Metal slug games! Very fun way to spend 20 dollars in about 30 minutes! Quote
