Admiral Bejaune Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 That's the Black Pearl from POTC!! haha no its not.. look up the black pearl and compare the two.. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 No it's replica ship from a movie of 1989 (i forgat the name). It cost 8 million to build, very pretty ship, i have about 20 pictures of it, it is in the harbour of Napoli, Italy. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 6, 2007 Governor Posted November 6, 2007 Tiz always good to put a picture in the first post (providing it's not too large) for user convenience. Quote
oo7 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) Captain Green Hair seems very near to being correct. Apparently, the ship is a replica called "Neptune" and was originally built for the 1986 movie "Pirates" directed by Roman Polanski. As of 2002, it has been converted into a public museum afloat in the harbor of Genoa, Italy. Edited November 6, 2007 by oo7 Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 6, 2007 Governor Posted November 6, 2007 I feel a thread title change coming on... Was "Neptune" the ship's complete name or did it have a suffix? Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Wasn't Neptune one of the ships that fought at Trafalgar? Anyways, its a nice ship. Quote
oo7 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I feel a thread title change coming on... Was "Neptune" the ship's complete name or did it have a suffix? That is the full name, allegedly. One can find some more photographs and information around the web given the said individual knows where to look. For example - http://jhgraves.smugmug.com/gallery/2012838#103787966 Wasn't Neptune one of the ships that fought at Trafalgar? Anyways, its a nice ship. A ship of the line named Neptune was one of the only five French vessels to survive the battle however the link above states this ship is a replica of a Spanish galleon to the contrary. There have also been at least nine vessels of the British Royal Navy to be named HMS Neptune. :-D Quote
Scouty Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Cool, what interesting looking ship! And thanks to our lad oo7 for finding a bucket of information for us to...ahem...sweep the decks (of our minds) with! Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I feel a thread title change coming on... Was "Neptune" the ship's complete name or did it have a suffix? After searching on google sometime, it appeared this is indeed called the Neptune(I guess we already knew that... but okay). That's the Black Pearl from POTC!! Heheheh, funny you mentioned that, when I first saw it, it directly reminded me of the Flying Dutchman before getting cursed. :-P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 7, 2007 Governor Posted November 7, 2007 Wasn't Neptune one of the ships that fought at Trafalgar? Anyways, its a nice ship. According to Wikipediathere are several ships named Neptune. So is the one we're discussing one of the HMS Neptunes from the Royal Navy? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted November 7, 2007 Governor Posted November 7, 2007 You do a lot of Laughing Out Loud Mr. Lt. Col. Thok... Quote
Opproperaar Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 IMO, the ship is 17th century. My opinion based on the lateen sail, the bow and stern and general look of her. Definitely not a ship from trafalgar though. I know that for sure!! :-D :-P Such old rigging and shape, she'd've been blasted to bits! Quote

Definitely not a ship from trafalgar though. I know that for sure!! :-D :-P Such old rigging and shape, she'd've been blasted to bits! Just what I think. These older Galleon type ships (1600-1700?) weren't used in the big wars anymore. And that's good, they were way too beautiful to be blown to bits!! Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 The ship is from Roman Polanski movie Pirates. Google it and there is some great pictures of the ship. Its a very gorgeous ship. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 8, 2007 Governor Posted November 8, 2007 I've got that movie on DVD too! Haven't got round to watching it though. Quote
