Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 (edited) Hello Pirate fans! :-) This is my first review of any set/minifigure in Eurobricks, so hopefully you will like it! ;-) Review: The Red and white striped Peg leg! This certain pirate was featured in only 2 sets, 6246 Crocodile Cage (1994) and 6261 Raft Raiders (1992). Both are rather small sets, and can be found on both E-bay and Bricklink often. He is unique in the fact that he is one of the only minfigs to have a peg leg. Only 2 or 3 other minifigs have a peg leg, including Cap'n Redbeard. His head and hat are both common, featured in many sets, which is a shame as I would of liked a rarer head. ( *sing* ) So what are your opinions on this minifig? Is he the scourge of the Caribbean or his he just another tasty meal for the islanders? X-D Edited October 28, 2007 by Lord Of Pies Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 28, 2007 Governor Posted October 28, 2007 Oh bless you for taking the initiative laddie! Although I'm a bit confused when you say "So what are your opinions on this set?" Don't you mean mini-figure? Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Oops, you are right Mister Phes I shall change it! X-O Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 28, 2007 Governor Posted October 28, 2007 Excellent work! *y* It just so happens that I created a Pictorial Review of Crocodile Cage which can be found here. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Ahh yes, I was reading that a while ago! And a fine review it was! *y* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 28, 2007 Governor Posted October 28, 2007 Lord of Pies, did you take that picture of the pirate mini-figure yourself or did you find it somewhere? Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Unfortunately my camera is broken, so it is a bricklink photo! Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 A highly charming combination of pirate Minifig parts! As for your question, I think the chance he'll gets eaten by our good friend Kahuka is bigger than the chance he'll cut them to pieces and feed them to his parrot... But perhaps I'm mistaking! X-D Quote
Scouty Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 An excellent figure! A peg leg, and a tricorn! Not your ordinary pirate :-) , but not your Pirate Captain either.... X-D ! Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 A very nice review! I believe that he would stand no chance against Kahuka. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Thanks! *y* And I agree ol' Kahuka would be cooking him for lunch before you could say "A pirates life is a life for me!" Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 29, 2007 Governor Posted October 29, 2007 Here's Classic-Pirates.com's very own picture of Crocodile Cage: You can see the mini-figure under review is in a spot of bother. Quote
Shadows Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Clearly a step above your average swabby with his stylin' hat, lost a leg in battle, but still very much like those who are below him, I view him as the pirate equivalent of a military sergeant. Sort of the guy who would be in charge below decks and able to answer directly to the captain. Easily rebuilt from misc parts, he isn't overly valuable, and yes, a more unique head would be nice, but he's still a necessary and treasured part of any pirate crew. *y* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Nice Picture Mister Phes! Unfortunately when I ordered my Crocodile cage off E-bay, the pirate had black and red stripes... Quote
VBBN Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Yeah. Good review. I alwayss wondered: How well does he stand with that stick leg! Thanks for the review! :-D Quote
ExoBuilder Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 ~VBBN~, The stick leg has the same click joints as a normal leg so it attatches to the ground the same but the minifig can't sit down. Quote
Athos Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Nothing that interesting. Just an nice example of how, with a little mixing and matching, you can create a whole bunch of individualized pirates from only three basic figures. I'm not real keen on the tricorn hat with that torso though. Can't explain why... Steve Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I agree - tricorns are too advanced for grunts and swabbies - they should be reserved for Officer and Captains by LAW! X-D Slazza Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Actually the minifig can sit down!! Or at least mine does!! Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 An excellent figure! A peg leg, and a tricorn! Not your ordinary pirate :-) , but not your Pirate Captain either.... X-D ! Yeah, lego seemed to catch on after the early years that repetition of the figure design wasn't so applicable to pirates as to imperials. All the later years newer figure combinations and torso designs began to branch out some. As always there's a lack of female designs however though most the maidens from castle will fit in nicely, pity I only have that old witch. lol Quote
