Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Interessting how similar the design style of the RO vehicles is compared to the ones seen in TFA. Besides to the reused. To me they are not nearly as attractive as the prequel or sequel ships. Rather trying to have bizarre & outstanding colours, angles & shapes instead of focussing on unique & creative designs. Like the movies the designers go away from SW. The TV show Rebels designs for example are inspired by original & very original (Mcquarrie) ones & therefore give me a prequel feeling. Not just because of superficial easter eggs. Not saying any of it is bad. Just more like any random sci-fi rather than SW. *offtopic rant over. Quote
bountybossk Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) I disagree. I think the new RO vehicles blend in quite good with the excisting (OT) crafts. The U-wing is a unique design following the styles of the Y-wing and the snowspeeder. The Tie-striker looks like a great Imperial successor of the Jedi interceptor. The tank is a simple but good looking millitary craft and I'm getting more and more positive about the design of Krennic's shuttle. On the subject of 2016 being a bad LEGO SW year: Yes, we had a number of dissapointments: - The small Carbon Freeze Chamber - Insult on Hoth - May the 4th polybag - SW minifig encyclopedia minifig - The lack of double molding on figs (except for the awesome Resistance helmets) - High prices, low minifig counts However, I'm hoping/thinking the RO wave and DS will make up for it. I agree, the new ships look like they could have come from the same batch of concept art as the OT ships. My only question is why don't we see any of these ships in the OT? Especially (I assume) a more advanced TIE than the standard TIE Fighter. That may be answered in the film though/ Quote
Alexastor Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I was also a bit wondering about these new additions and why we haven't seen them in the OT. But it makes a lot of sense I think: Every single film in the OT also added new trooper variatiants or vehicles (Snowtroopers in ESB, Scout Troopers in ROJ, etc.) And the new things in Rogue One simply fill in the gaps. Shoretroopers obviously for beach landings etc., and the U-Wing as Rebel landing craft. The TIE striker is for aerial combat. I don't like the U-Wing too much, so I might only get the Jyn Erso minifig. And the shuttle is too bulky for my tastes, so I'll buy Krennic separately (and get the Death Troopers in the Battle Pack). sahidko Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I was also a bit wondering about these new additions and why we haven't seen them in the OT. Why haven't we seen them? Simple explanation would be that because at the time of OT they didn't exist. :) But new vehicles/troops are needed for new trilogy so the movie continuity goes sideways in this case. I agree with you about the sets, i might just collect the figures. Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I'm really warming up to Krennic's Imperial Shuttle... in fact, the only one of these I don't particularly like is the U-Wing. I think it's a good thing I haven't bought a whole lot of stuff this year, considering how good this wave is and how good the Technic and Marvel sets are... my wallet is crying. Quote
nikhkin Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) The good news is that in the new U-Wing set photos there definitely seems to be a hinge for the wings to bend backwards and the TIE Striker wings angle down as in the concept pictures. Edited August 8, 2016 by nikhkin Quote

lomis Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 One odd thing I've noticed is that the non-box picture for 75155 - Rebel U-Wing Fighter shows a rebel soldier not shown as included on the box and not shown as included on the previously leaked Minifigure image. It looks like he belongs to 75154 - TIE Striker and actually shows in those images. Quote
lomis Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Doesn't work. Try reloading this page. CM4Sci posted most of the images to this thread. Quote
jhaelego Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Thank you CM4Sci! You're the true American Gangster. My impression of the Tie Striker was totally wrong. I thought it had 3 wings shaped similar to a tri-fighters, based on the grainy images we had before. Not sure which version I like better now. Quote

It looks like he belongs to 75154 - TIE Striker and actually shows in those images. The rebel pilot we know is included is not shown in the set image - I think it's just a mistake. It's now really clear how the u-wing wings rotate - just simple hinges and then click into place with a ball joint. I was hoping for some sort of geared mechanism, but hopefully this will mean the space is devoted to interior for the ship. Also, the box art for the shuttle shows X-wings and TIE fighters dog-fighting in the back ground - possible spoilers? The AT-ST also looks flat better in the set photo than in the box art - this could be a case of the entire wave getting bought on the day of release... I love these sets! will Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I think the AT-ST is the only one I'll pick up, as it will do as a replacement/upgrade for 7657 which I have and looks dated now. Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Do we have prices on any of the RP sets? Quote

nikhkin Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) Do we have prices on any of the RP sets? The prices were given in the original link. I can't remember them all, but: Shuttle - 100 Euros AT-ST - 50 Euros Edit: From Brickset 75152 {?} - 385 pieces - €39.99, £34.99, $29.99 75153 {?} - 449 pieces - €49.99, £39.99, $39.99 75154 {?} - 543 pieces - €69.99, £59.99, $69.99 75155 {?} - 659 pieces - €79.99, £64.99, $69.99 75156 {?} - 863 pieces - €99.99, £79.99, $89.99 Once again we get ridiculous pricing in the UK! $30 -> £35, but $90 -> £80. What algorithm do Lego use for their conversions? Edited August 8, 2016 by nikhkin Quote
Alexastor Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) Nevermind what I said about the Shuttle. It looks much better when looked at from above and the texture is great. The cockpit piece is really interesting. Probably still can't justify getting it :D Still don't fancy the U-Wing. Wanting the others now more than before :) Edited August 8, 2016 by Alexastor Quote
benderisgreat Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Wow, Rogue One sets look good for the most part, except for U-Wing. I just don't like this model , but it has all main heroes of the movie. Btw I don't like lack of leg print on Jyn Erso, I mean she is the main hero and her minifigure lacks details! Hope she at least has torso print , or if she doesn't it would explain poncho. AT-ST is so much better than last version released in 2007: more details, more pieces, just great! Hover Rank however is the only must buy set for me, the rest I would get later. Prices are once again too high especially on Tie Striker, U-Wing and Krennic's Shuttle. But overall really solid first wave for Rogue One! Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I love all of the sets and will most likely pick them all up! Thank you once again Sci for coming to the rescue. Love you dude! Quote

The only additional detail is a holster, but since the minifigure is designed to wear that poncho piece it isn't really visible. Quote
