Sylvian Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Here's my latest 6x6 chassis,.. which features hub reduction, suspension and a working fake v6 engine with moving fan. I want to make it a kamaz, and include a working steering wheel and tiltable cab, but it its giving me a real headache,.. This chassis has taken me about 2 weeks to design and build.(not including previous renditions which didnt satisfy me) Also i want to extend the wheelbase by 2 studs because i think the second axle is to close to the xlmotors,.. anyhow i am pretty proud with the result so far so i couldnt resist posting the chassis. Cheers :) Quote
M_longer Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 XL motors will grind those z12 half bevel gears. Quote
Sylvian Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) https://youtu.be/1K8hUlnNZVI Here i added 2kg,. @ 4kg it indeed starts to grind gears,. Nonetheless, i am still pleased :) thnx ;) Just noticed the fan & engine not working on the previous vid,.. so.. https://youtu.be/wjFL2WPTalw Edited December 17, 2015 by Sylvian Quote
timslegos Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Such a clean design, I love it. I also really like how you cant see any holes in the frame, very well done. Also great idea using the blue pump as a damper for the suspension. I have always used the pneumatic cylinders themselves but I will have to try the small pumps. Tim Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Like others said, its a very clean design. I would try to reinforce the U joints and additionally brace the 12:20 bewel drives. Quote
Sylvian Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) @M5Technic,. Thanks! I am really happy with those modified plate parts they really make it look better imo. @Timslego's,. Thanks alot, a clean look is defenitely something i am trying to achieve, really glad you like it :) The real function of the pump is to keep the spring in place.. the idea was kinda born because of that,. But yeah i also like how it looks :) @Zblj,. Thanks! I will try and see if i can add some some aditional bracing,. If i can combine it with some extra detailing i will be very happy, but i dont know if i can pull it off without have to make some consessions.. the U-joints towards the rear axles are fine,.. the ones that go to the front axle,.. yes,.. its a weak spot,.. i dont know what to do yet,.. because i dont really want to sacrifice looks,... (its a constant struggle :P) But glad you guys are liking it :) Anyhow my main point of focus for now is the cabin hinge point which i need to combine with the steering mechanism. If i get this right, i am confident i will be able to finish this,.. Edited December 17, 2015 by Sylvian Quote
Karle Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Nice detail over all. What is the part number of the cylinder covers? Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Excellent! I agree with you on those two extra studs betwen axles 1 and 2. Quote
MaxSupercars Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Sylvian, I like your chassis it looks very good. While it is WIP you make a lot of changes on it likr reinforcing mentioned parts. I'm looking forward for final version. Motor details are very pretty... :) Max Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Great model so far! Nice to see those feedbacks of guys who have seen it all...very useful! Quote
braker23 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Looks great, engine details are awesome, but can you share some info on the hub reduction? I have no clue how those turntables work, and I'm really curious now :) Quote
ludov Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Nice detail over all. What is the part number of the cylinder covers? It's this part: Brick, Modified 2 x 2 x 2/3 Two Studs, Curved Slope End (47457) Quote
Sylvian Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) @ MajklSpajkl,. Thanks! It has been done :) @ Maxsupercars, i have reinforced said parts, glad you like it so far :) @ LegoOrnot2Lego,. You are right,. But i can be very stubborn at times ;), glad you like it :) @ Braker23,. If you have some patience I will show you how i made the wheels when i get to the point where i will replace the grey 3L pin connectors. @Ludo, thnx ;) Anyhow, here are the improvements,. I know the CV isnt known for being the strongest part but it copes well enough with added weight,.. bracing the bevel gears was a good and needed idea which defenitely helped, so thanks for that Mlonger and everybody else :) Anyhow, enough for now,. I will do my best to make it something cool in the coming week(s) or so. cheers! Ok,.. one last piccy... :P Edited December 23, 2015 by Sylvian Quote
Imanol BB Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 This truck is really nice, i think you made an excellent work with all those details and the working functions, the fake motor has a lot of details, and it seems good so far and very capable for off road woth those XL motors, nice work. Quote
MaxSupercars Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Sylvian, it looks great! It will be Kamaz right? Very nice cabin. Max Quote
JJ2 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Wow! it looks good and robust. I like the way you did the axles and how you made the powerchain I know you just reinforced the 12-20 gears but couldent you have used THIS piece? Quote
Sylvian Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 @ ImanolBB, gracias :) thanks for the kind words. @ Max, thanks alot man. Yeah i will try to make it look like a kamaz as much as possible, havent decided on the grill type though. @ JJ2 Thanks! The reason i did not used that piece,. Mhm i was afraid the 2 holes off the XL werent enough to hold it.. and the black 20t shows less than the flat tan one,.. other than that,.. i cant really think up any other excuse :P Thanks :) Quote
