Governor Mister Phes Posted April 14, 2005 Governor Posted April 14, 2005 Here is an interesting example of the 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner (Link to original at LUGNet) by Steven House. Its interesting because it shows how the newer pieces can be integrated with older sets to improve and customise them. To see what these modification are you'll need to visit: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/1748 for more shots because I'm not going to link them to this thread. Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Thats a really nice ship ;) The design is really good, I wouldn't have chosen certain colours but its only a question of personal taste ;) TLC have no ideas about pirate: just browse around and get some from AFOLs Mocs. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 14, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 14, 2005 Well they obviously had ideas for the 4+ Pirate theme. Just not very good ones! Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Well, if you call those ideas *wacko* Just a combination of big bricks put together.... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 14, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 14, 2005 No I don't call those ideas. I frequently referred to them as "pieces tacked together with Pirate elements for the sake of calling the sets part of a Pirate theme" Quote
The Middleman Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I like the original better, actually. And we all know 4+ is crap, no need to talk about it! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 14, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 14, 2005 The modifications are very minimal anyway... Quote
The Middleman Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Yeah, it looks like they spent more time buffing up the images than the set itself. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 15, 2005 Author Governor Posted April 15, 2005 But they are nice images... Nowhere else is there shots like this of the Skulls Eye Schooner.. If anyone really cares... Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 The modifications are very minimal anyway... I believe so, I don't see what is changed, it could be because I don't own the set myself , but could you please explain what he changed?? Quote
simonwillems Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I believe so, I don't see what is changed, it could be because I don't own the set myself , but could you please explain what he changed?? I do own the set, and there only seems to be a modification in the two large masts: extra climbing-things and enlarged crowsnests. Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I do own the set, and there only seems to be a modification in the two large masts: extra climbing-things and enlarged crowsnests. If that's all, I wouldn't call it improved... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 12, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 12, 2006 What would you call it then Mr Tiber? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 12, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 12, 2006 Well obviously, but I was expecting for something a little more precise. Quote
Legeaux Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Nice images. Odd modifications. It seems the extra ratlines were added for only the sake of adding extra ratlines. Ratlines secured to the rails? That's insulting to the original design of the vessel! Count me as unimpressed. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 13, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 13, 2006 This must have been one of the first MOCs I posted at Eurobricks... Reading this thread again after so long makes me realise how much my opinion of this MOC (or should I say MOD)? changed. Quote
Sting Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I like the original better, actually. And we all know 4+ is crap, no need to talk about it! I could talk about it for days and not get bored! Damn those 4+ Pirates are trash! Okay I'm bored. I don't find this ship much different at all. I would like to see a refitted Skulls Eye Schooner incorporate new gray and new brown (besides the hulls since they are not made in new brown) and incoporate LOTS of new elements so we could see how a Skulls Eye Schooner designed 2006 would look. It would probably look sleeker as I find alot of the new pieces are more 'aerodynamic' and there is more pieces to make things rounder and smoother. Quote
Norrington Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 then be more precise when you ask :-P Quote
Captain Roger Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I have seen only one improvement:the masts, am i right? PS: Is only 1 improvement, but really good Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 15, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 15, 2006 then be more precise when you ask :-P Norrington, since when was your name Mr Tiber? I was asking him not you. Now get back to sleeping with the piggies. X-D Quote
