PFTechnicBuilder Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Hello, I am new to this forum. I recently received several Power Functions parts in the mail, all of which were purchased from eBay, and came new in sealed bags. All seem to be working just fine except for the remote control (it is a regular one, not a speed one). I put new batteries in it, and the battery box, and I made sure the receiver and remote were set to the same channel, and that the receiver, battery box, and motor were all connected properly. The green lights on the battery box and receiver both light up, but not the one on the remote. The motor also works fine when connected directly to the battery box. Am I doing anything wrong? Or is my remote control defective? All help appreciated. Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Here's a simple trick. Take you phone or any kind of camera and aim it at the remote's transparent black part. Tutn on controller (any function) and look at the screen of the camera. If you see a violet blinking light on the camera, than controller works. If not...well bad luck... Most of the cameras out there can see IR light and its shown as violet color. Quote

I guess I have a defective part? Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 How about batteries in the controller? Are they full? Quote
PFTechnicBuilder Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 The 3 batteries I put in were all new. I even put another set of 3 new batteries from the same package in, and they still did not work. Quote
syclone Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Maybe a stupid thing but did you tried all the channels? Edited November 27, 2015 by LXF Quote

But the light turns on when you push a control lever? I recommend borrowing a controller from someone else to compare. Quote
joshgay Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Purchased the basic remote from shop.lego.com in the last 10 days, along with some receivers, the remote doesn't cause any receiver to blink when pointed and buttons pushed. Replacement should be here in "3-8 days". Quote
Toast0307 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Wow I just posted a question related to exact same problem although legoshop.com have now sent me 3 and none of them work I am considering asking them to send the speed remote instead worth a try? Quote
doug72 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) Make sure the cable plugs are seated onto the terminals firmly. Using a small pin ease out slightly the four silver connectors on the female cable plug and try again. Sometimes they fail to make contact with the silver connectors on the male socket on battery or receivers. Edited December 16, 2015 by Doug72 Quote
Toast0307 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Does anyone know if the Ir receiver has to be working correctly before the light on the remote will work when you move a lever Quote
dr_spock Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 The green Led on the IR remote will light when you move a lever forward or backwards. It is not lit when the levers are in the middle position (off). If your batteries are old and weak, the Led will look very dim. The Led on the IR receiver will light a solid green when it receives power from the battery box. When the receiver receives a command from the IR remote, the solid green Led will blink beliefly as it digests the command. Quote
