DK-Brickfan Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 First of all, this is my first post. But I've been looking a long time and are very inspired by sheos RH400 I am working on an excavator with 6 V2 pneumatic pistons for the boom, arm and bucket. And 2 small LA to open the bucket. Same principle as RH400 and other large excavators. So far I have made the valve battery with 3 major LA which opens and closes the valves. But it does not work as intended. So I need ideas for a new valve battery. I hope you can help me with this project. Regards Jonas. Quote
M_longer Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 One of LUGPol's administrators has built Terex RH 400 with pneumatics. It is using four valves, controled by servo motors, each with reduction: Later version had pressure switches and compressors: Quote
bonox Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Wow - that's amazing. More than watching it work i'd love to hear it :) Quote
M_longer Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Wow - that's amazing. More than watching it work i'd love to hear it :) Whole machine or only valve? :P Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 They are all valid solutions, the main problem with the servos it's the price!!!! About the LA, why did you not like it? I find it a good solutions cos you can stop it everywhere from closed to open positions..... Quote
DK-Brickfan Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 That´s a pretty amazing unit. But i´m not a fan of the servo configuration, because of the lack of possibilities. You can better adjust the air-flow with a LA or some kind of worm-gear. Oh I liked the LA, but I messed up the connection between the LA and the motor, I used gears instead of U-joint. I might try to change it, but I would rather look for other ideas and maybe something smaller. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I have made a valve that uses a small gear rack connected to a servo. Link Quote
nerdsforprez Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you aboard! I can concur what others have said, I think LAs work well with pneumatic valves. Quote
DK-Brickfan Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Nice set of tanks. :D I guess you can call it my Worklog of some kind, but i´ve posted som images of my MOC here - http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=559791 And i still need some parts, including the 6 pistons. So i have plenty of time to get the valves, turntable/weight issue, color combination, etc. etc. right. :) Quote
Saberwing40k Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Here's a link to the valves M_longer is talking about, the builder made some instructions for it. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=513295 Quote
bonox Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Whole machine or only valve? :P The pressurised valves working, so in the machine. i kind of have an idea about all sorts of hissing noises, but it might be the steam fanatic in me . But that's a great demonstration of the setup, thanks. Quote
9v system Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 very good idea for a topic. however there is a pneumatic topic that this should be posted in so I will ask Jim to do it Quote
Rockbrick Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 i'd love to see those 'tanks' on a trailer behind the unimog and see it hitting the road Quote
DK-Brickfan Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) I´ve got the PISTONS! Now it´s time for tweaking and modding the excavator. More pic´s here - http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=559791 Edited November 13, 2015 by DK-Brickfan Quote
jorgeopesi Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Nice machine, I will rebuild my caterpillar 6090 with the same pieces. Quote
Jim Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I´ve got the PISTONS! Now it´s time for tweaking and modding the excavator. Your images is way too big. Can you limit the pictures to 1024 wide, according to site guidelines. Quote
DK-Brickfan Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 I actually dont know how to do that, it´s a link to brickshelf. Quote
Jim Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I actually dont know how to do that, it´s a link to brickshelf. Save the picture, upload it to your own BrickSafe or Flickr account, and embed a smaller version. Otherwise you can simply link the image, instead of embedding it. Quote
DK-Brickfan Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 I think I got it right. :) Quote
Jim Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I think I got it right. :) Cool! I recommend creating a BrickSafe (very easy) or Flickr (widely used) account. It's very useful for hosting your own pictures. Quote
