Undi3sss Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) This is an easy skip for me, because I have the previous train. It's sad I won't have something new to expand my village, but my wallet is happy. I do think remakes are worth doing for thoses who missed out, but maybe having a new thing next to it on the shelves to not dissapoint the OG collectors?. I missed out on some of the earlier sets, so I'd love a bakery remake for example. That said this is such a different train set to how the Toy Shop remake was 😂. Edited September 11 by Undi3sss Typo. andrea87 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Can LEGO do a smaller and more expensive than previous WV train? "OF COURSE!" Maybe the first WV set I'll pass... Seriously, I think Lego should have made a fantasy train (maybe a North Pole train which Santa load his sled, reindeers and gifts?), like the last year "Post Office" was the fantasy remake of older "Post Office"... so, next year I hope to have a fantasy train station (maybe the North Pole Station) and not another "common" WV train station! LegoDW Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Sad most are disappointed in this years WV train and the big Chirstmas Tree. Unfortunatly, regarding the train I am a little disappointed also. Hopefully in person it is a better set. Regarding the Christmas Tree, like the idea...expensive. Will be insteresting how these sets sell. Strong possilbity we see some sales on at least one of these later in 2026. One thing to add. Instead of getting the Big Christmas Tree this year, I have purchased the Bricklink Designers series 5 Theves of Tortuga. Going to make this our Holdiay set this year. Not sure how going to work into my WV display, maybe Santa will raise a pint with the Pirates. Quote

This set has its flaws, but it is not smaller then the previous WV train, it has over 200 more pieces, and if you compare the two engines, the new one appears to be several inches longer. While I to was hoping for something different, I am skeptical they will do a North Pole train station, but it would be cool. Edited September 11 by Celtchief Quote
hikouki Posted September 15 Posted September 15 That Christmas tree concept is really nice. Shame about the price though. Quote
DimiNi Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Totally agree here with everyone! The Train is a big disappointment. I dont see any nice building techniques, even worse: the trains are standing on 6x8 Plates, which are connected to 2 technic bricks where we plug the wheels into. And on the plate we have only on 2 sides a wall with window, stacked like a 2 years old, with a super simple rooftop :D what is this set? Its so bad. The Christmas tree though looks like the real Winter "Village" set this year, but the price tag... I wont buy any of these two. Quote
Arstotle Posted October 12 Posted October 12 This place has been crickets for about a month, which is unsurprising given the general disappointment in this year's train set. Here's hoping that at least one of this year's holiday GWP's will be a nice addition to the winter village. I would think we'll get some sort of leak for the Black Friday GWP in the next couple weeks. Quote
RichardGoring Posted October 13 Posted October 13 It's been quiet because the best winter village set is easily an ATAT and no one wants to give their position away to the enemy! I saw the train in person at a store the other day and it does look nice, if you don't think about the alternatives. It's really whether you get it if you already have another, and it doesn't feel compelling. I've seen some lovely MOCs on Rebrickable though, so might investigate some of this this year, if they do indeed get Pick a Brick back in the US soon. Quote
keba Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Rumor has it that first GWP will be Northern lights diorama. Quote

With its exclusive GWP, I'm almost certainly going to be picking up the Enterprise-D when it releases on Black Friday (or, more likely, the early BF deal they do for VIP's/Insiders/whatever we're called these days), and I'd like a nice WV GWP to boot! And as for the train - I completely agree. The better sets are the AT-AT and the gingerbread house. I have the first train, but I'm a bit of a completist, so I'll probably pick up this one eventually. But, as always with the Winter Village, it's what could have been. So many more buildings that need to be made. I'll also mention that Santa's Post Office does have the "Retiring Soon" tag in the U.S. Short shelf life on that one, and understandably so, but that also means that secondary prices will likely jump up after it's gone. Just in case anyone is still on the fence... Quote

It's coming up, starting tomorrow. It's the fourth in the wonders of the natural world dioramas that they've been doing this year. Not a winter village specific thing. LEGO 40785 Northern Lights Diorama revealed! | Brickset I'm very glad that didn't turn out to the be one of the holiday GWP's. Black Friday is late this year (November 28), so I guess we're still a little more than a month away from the VIP early access weekend. Maybe we'll get some sort of leak in another week... Quote
Myadultlegoworld Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM I have yet to even open the Christmas train from 2016 as I still use the ORIGINAL Christmas Holiday Train from 2006. Unless I can find this years train at a discount I won't be purchasing it. Especially since folks seem to have trouble with the tree from 2016 and the polar bear arm from this years. Plus I don't like the color. The Family Christmas tree isn't something for the Winter Village. I'm considering the small gingerbread shop. Depends if it will clash with the original gingerbread house. As much as like the rest of you, I'd like others to be able to have a Winter Village, I don't like when they do repeats and not give us original collectors something new. Lego did a repeat of the toy shop in 2015 that I didn't get because I had the original from 2009. I use winnter items from the Friends, Harry Potter and a few Disney sets. Plus I have MOCS from other Lego creators (I love my church that we will never get from Lego), MOCS of my own, though not very good. And I have sets from other brands. So when Lego doesn't cater to us long time fans I spend my money on those sets. Plus I'm not too keen on the price increase either. Quote

That's quite a backlog if you haven't opened the 2016 train yet. I really like it, and my children play with it each year without any major stability issues. I saw the small gingerbread house in-person in a store and that sealed the deal that I will get it. I think it scales pretty well as a novelty shop for a real-world village setting, compared to the fantasy setting for the Gingerbread House. Still not ordered it though, as I also have a few of the previous sets still to build! Quote

Just never opened the train set, I'll have to hit up one of my Lego stores and see the little gingerbread house in person. I've decided to open the school house from Hidden Side and winterize it for my village since there isn't a new set for me to put together this year. Quote
Arstotle Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Leak out of Korea - looks like the Black Friday GWP is going to be this Hot Chocolate Stand. A welcome addition to the WV. Quote
