Not exactly WV news, but pictures are circulating of a gingerbread Darth Vader, reported to be coming with a Gingerbread AT-AT this fall.  I love the look of the figure!

Agreed, it looks great, and I really like the idea of the set. I hope they put gingerbread men into the BAM stations for Christmas, to fill it with gingerbread troopers.

I could certainly see a gingerbread ATAT being part of the village's Christmas decorations.

Another month gone by and no news, not even rumors about this year winter village set.

Posted

Yeah, they're really keeping a tight lid on the WV info this year.  Plenty of into on October 1st sets has leaked (notably the UCS Death Star fiasco), but not a peep about the Winter Village.

I will note that the rumor about the Star Wars holiday sets has changed, and now the most prominent rumor is that we're getting a Gingerbread Vader's TIE to go along with that Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure that got leaked several weeks back.  Given the reported piece count of just under 700 pieces, a TIE makes a lot more sense than an AT-AT.

Also, for those lucky few who have the Christmas X-Wing, Darth Vader's Tie is a perfect companion.

The new Hogsmeade set revealed today looks very Winter Village-ish...

I wonder if this years WV set will be a vehicle (like the train) because otherwise they could cannibalize each other

Its kind of weird having almost 2 WV sets but then again there is a City/HP advent calendar each so....

It's an extremely expensive WV set, and even if you break it down into 3x WV sets, I'm still not seeing the value.

Meanwhile  76786 Morticia's Cottage is architecturally great, although would need a lot of replacement parts to put it into a winter village.

Seems like you were right, there is a new rumour that it’s gonna be a train! (unfortunately for me)

A new train would be great. At Christmas we get out the original train and then a City passenger train and the children both want the VW train as it's far more interesting, so this will bring a calmer environment to the festive season! At that price/piece count, it won't be motorized, will it? Which will be a shame, and also make it fairly expensive.

Wow the timing lol

But yeah it make sense

I bet it'll fit just right with Hogsmeade

Well... with that $130 price tag, this is the first time since the Winter Village line started that a set is going over $100. It was honestly a great move keeping it under $100 all these years, so it’s a real shame they’ve not only raised the price, but also cut down the piece count big time.. 956 pieces compared to the 1450–1515 range we’ve been getting recently. That’s a third fewer pieces for a third more money. The train better look amazing

So, the last train was 100 dollars, but it only had 734 pieces.  And part of that is track, while being only one piece, is much bigger.   This set will have about 250 more pieces for about 30 dollars more.   I think that is great, because I am hoping either this new train has a beefier engine or more then two little cars beyond the engine and tender.  It won't be motorized, but I think that is fine, because it is a "toy train" so pushing it will be great for kids.  I should come with the directions to motorize it though.  I know for people who already have a train, it's a bummer if you don't need another, but it has been 9 years since the last train, and 130.00 is better for the new people then paying 250 plus for a used one online.  Also, as someone who has ran the Disney and WV train together in my WV, it is fun to have to trains going one two separate tracks, if you have the space.  Just creates that extra level of kinetic energy.

Brick Clicker has said there will also be 40809 Festive Gingerbread House, 498 pieces for $40 and 40812 Snowman Ornaments, 168 pieces for $14.

The gingerbread house might be WV compatible.

I still haven't built the Disney Train, but we took the children to Disney World for the first time earlier in the year, so perhaps this is the Christmas that we open it as they've experienced the real thing. A three train Christmas!

So I have the option this year of expanding my village with the new Hogsmeade which is very compatible with the style of my village, or going with the official WV offering. I think I already have a Lego train set (fairly sure) so a new train might not be for me. It depends how attractive it is.
I regret not buying the station though. I still have last year's offering in the box. On reflection, I am not so keen on the Santa stuff and it doesn't go with the rest of the WV. It needs a separate North Pole display. They don't go together.
I would love a church but I know that Lego refuse to do them so I may need to sort that out separately. I am trying to create more of an English Winter Village vibe which means you can mix up medieval, victorian, early 20th century and modern builds all together, rather than the vibe of WV which is a weird mix of Santa kids stuff, modern Alpine village and older USA winter traditions. So many of the sets don't really 'go' together. Maybe I am being too fussy.

I've mentioned it before but the Hogsmeade from 2021 https://brickset.com/sets/76388-1/Hogsmeade-Village-Visit fits the WV scale nicely...and can be head on Bricklink for a reasonable price. I made some modifications for more snow on each roof and some minor architectural stuff.

I'm interested to see this train but it makes me wonder if a new station is in the works for next year, and if so, I'm not sure how I'd feel about that.

That was my first thought as well - I really hope we don't get another train station next year.  I believe the first train station only stayed on the shelves for 12-15 months, so I would assume that meant it didn't sell well.  Hopefully that fact will save us from another train station.

I love the WV line, but I am not much of a train guy, so I'm disappointed overall at another train.  I find myself instead looking forward to this gingerbread Star Wars set as well as the 40809 Festive Gingerbread House, and I'm very enthusiastic about the City Advent Calendar this year - those minifigures look great!

That is exactly what I do, I run my train from one end of the set up to the other, with the village on one end, and Santa's North Pole on the other, I guess somewhat emulating the Polar Express.

My train runs around the base of our tree each year, so I used to do this with the North Pole on one side and the rest of the village on the other.  But after years of collecting and some serious MOCing, I have to restrict to one side of the tree so that there's someplace for presents to go and so we can access the tree at all!

So what is everyone wishing for this years WV set, a fantasy/whimsical train or something more more prototypical?  I’m wishing for prototypical but will still purchase ether way.  Love TLG trains.

Ohh a new WV train set? How cool! I would be interested to see what it goes like - a fantasy or old-fashioned train. I’m hoping it would be more like Polar Express train

I wonder if the new train will come with a small station? 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station is both a train (engine, tender, 2x carriages) and a station for $130 and 1074 pieces. A small little station would fit the winter village theme nicely.

This makes sense.  Especially since when they did the s stand alone station, I don't think it sold as well.  I personally hope they put all of into the train, as I have the WV station, the disney station, and the previous HP station, but that's just me being selfish.  I guess though, the other way they could go is make next year a North Pole train station, if they really are trying to emulate the Polar Express somewhat.

IMO the old WV train station was good, just not big enough.  I expanded mine about 50% larger: added a larger indoor seating area for the cafe, extend the outdoor benches bit to add more mini figs traveling.  Would have pervered the bus sold separately with more pieces of the set going into a larger station,

New set is coming out in a little over 1 month.  TLG should start teasing us with pictures soon!
