Having now collected everything from the Winter Village Market through to Santa's Post Office -- plus umpteen promos and side builds -- this year I feel like I crossed the threshold of having too much stuff. 12 major sets makes for a very busy Christmas display! I think I could maybe squeeze in an unlucky thirteenth if something really special comes out in the future, but unless I start rotating sets a decade of Winter Village collecting might have to be enough for me.

Santa's Post Office was a nice set to finish on. The hot air balloon adds a really nice focal point, and you can make the building look more post office-y by scattering some of the (many) envelope tiles around the doorway. It's a shame it got retired so quickly -- it was gone from the AU online shop long before Black Friday, so I picked mine up second hand.

I'd still like a Winter Village Police Station or a Christmas Tree Farm, but my prediction for next year is a re-imagined Santa's Workshop.

I skipped this year's train and instead picked up the 40573 Christmas Tree and 40746 Santa's Delivery, both on the cheap(ish), to add to the village. Like @Christmas Jack, I too am maxing out my available space, and my post office and alpine lodge remain unbuilt for now. Anyway, has anyone modded 40746 to be a model of a more traditional vintage looking delivery truck? I'm not a fan of the open cab look and would like to do something with this that gets rid of the workshop play aspect.

With all the news recently about the Lego Smart Brick, I'm kinda curious if that would maybe see use in future Winter Village sets. A light brick that you could "program" with various tags could be a big step up from the classic light brick—I could see that allowing for different light colors as well as patterns (for example, a "flickering" light in a fireplace) without having to hold down a button. And since it's rechargeable, there'd be less worry about burning through tiny button batteries. It can also do sound, which could allow for Christmas-y sounds or music (albeit chiptune-y and tinny coming from a small synthesizer and speaker).

Just speculation of course, but given all the drawbacks of existing light bricks it'd be interesting if they could use this new system on a more display-focused set like those instead of just on swooshable spaceships and the like.

Something like this would either result in a substantially reduced piece count to stay at the current price point or a $200 WV set....and neither option sounds particularly enticing.

I agree with this sentiment.  Including a smart brick would drastically increase the price, and I'd much rather have the Lego pieces rather than spending money on a smart brick.  I don't disagree that there are potential opportunities for the smart brick, but the price of these things is so high...I really think these smart bricks will be gone in a couple years.  Every once in a while Lego seems to try to work some gimmick into their sets.  I don't think it's ever worked out.

With the Winter Village line, Lego needs to focus on creating some new buildings that would fit well in our villages.  These repeated sets - both the Toy Store rehash and now the repeat train - seem not to have sold well.  The train never even went to backorder in the US, but essentially every other Christmas-themed set was on backorder or Temporarily Out Of Stock for practically all of December.  I don't think I'm alone in wanting new, unique sets for our villages.  No repeats, and no gimmicks.

Ditto.

I know Lego likes to 'protect' the modular theme but it would not hurt for them to make a building that can be easily modularized.

I'm a no on a police station. They'll inevitably feel the need to fill the interior space with a jail cell.

I'm skeptical that we'll ever have a dedicated WV police station.  Sure, you could put all the drunk mall Santa's in there, but it's just not very cheerful.  If they ever did something like a WV town hall, I could see attaching a small constable's office, or something along those lines.  But I think that's as close as we ever get to a City-style WV police station.  Now, a North Pole version of a police station - maybe Lego could do something with that idea that would be more whimsical and fun, and less dark/sad.

If you think Police Staiton is not very cheerful and festive, I find it very ironic…. We have Winter Vilalge Fire Station. It’s not cheerful if a Christmas tree and presents catch fire.  Pretty gloomy for victims.
I watched Christmas Chronicles on Netflix and I love the cellmates singing scene with Santa in a red vest. Very jazz and fun. I guess they shoudl not do a fire station again if they don’t do a police station.

Blaming topic…. I noticed that there is a rumored 18+ Icons set that’s called “Haunted House”. And it looks liek the price is matching with Winter Village’s one. If the rumor is true, maybe we get Sppoky Village? I’d course this is not fitting for here but it’s simply fun to specialist.

A firehouse is of benign context and, in a lot of towns in the US (mine included), the fire department plays a role in the "arrival of santa", using the ladder truck to decorate, and is active in coordinating things like toy donations. No flaming tree or house fire are depicted. Conversely, what constitutes a police station? A jail cell, basically. No thanks.

Regarding the possibility of a haunted village...depending on the depiction I could be into that. In fact I'm starting to accept the possibility that the winter village may have run it's course so if it were to replace the WV, maybe not a bad idea.

As I stand what I said, I still think that fire stations are little gloomy in real life if there was a fire breaking out. It’s jsut sad to see that in real life.  Sure, no flaming tree or pyramid in Lego Winter Vilage.  I am pretty sure poocie stations do toy donations across USA too. And personally, I put Santa Claus in my Modualr Buidling Police Statin.I have seen Christmas movies with polices included, such as  on 34th Street, Christmas Chroncile, and Santa Clause (bunch of fake Santas scene), Christmas with Kranks (criminal escapes police officers and ended up being hit by Santa), My Grandma Run Over by Reindeer (animated movie),. I am sure Lego will find ways to make a police station set more humrousand festive for Winter Vil That said, I think it’s ironic. That said, I do think what you people view on police station while we already had WV fire station, ignoring the real-life experiences.

I like the idea of a new haunted verison of Winter Village.  Halloween is a most popular holdiay, jsut right behind Christmas. However, we don’t know waht “Haunted House set is suppsoed to be - a Modualr Budiling on a half baseplate, a mircosacle set, a licensed set, or jsut a new spooky village lineup.  So we will see happens in a few months.

I agree with pretty well all of this.  A fire truck rolls through my neighborhood every December.  Lights flashing, carols playing and Santa sitting up top and waving to kids.  It's not a tradition that I grew up with, but it certainly seems to be popular where I live.  So, while the Fire Station wasn't my favorite WV set, I do see where it fits into the WV theme.  Maybe they'll do a WV police station one day, but there are probably 20 better ideas...if only Lego could figure out how to do the WV line well again.  IMO, the only reason it feels like the WV line has run its course is because of the poor choices that Lego makes with this line.  They either go with a rehash (train #2, the third toy store - this time in a main street set up) or they go bizarrely off the board (North Pole Post Office).  There are a lot of nice options for traditional village shops that would fit into the current WV well (the WV has been in need of a Sweet Shoppe for years) and would not be a rehash, but IMO the Alpine Lodge has been the only decent idea in the last handful of years.  That's what is killing this theme - a lack of creativity and execution.  Just look at the 2025 Employee exclusive to see what can be done with a 1000 piece holiday set (admittedly, that was another toy store and post office, so not that original, but still very well done).  Hopefully they don't give us train station #2 this year (the poor sales of last year's train should speak for themself) and instead come back with an original idea and build.

As for the other, I've thought that Lego should do a Halloween Village for years.  I would think that would be almost equally popular with the WV.  Hopefully that's what this "Haunted House" turns out to be, but I'm not holding my breath.
