Most of my pirates have been wearing the same old cloths for over a decade and some for near a score.

Anyhow, I was going through my minifig collection to cannibalize anything I could for additional recruitments.

These are some of my favorites thus far.

pirates1.jpg

1. starting on the left I used a face with orange glasses on his forhead so he has to wear a rag to cover it

I don't recall which set it is from.

2. a dino face from 7473 - Steel Sprinter vs. Mutant Lizard (possibly the best face for a pirate) and an avatar character's legs to mach the blue vest.

3. Aquaraider diver's head and a Harry Potter's goblin torso along with a bandana to cover the tie.

4. Professor Snape's uniform with Malfoy's face

5. I liked Snape's uniform so well I used it twice but I wanted to compare different colored epaulettes. He has a familar face from many newer sets and the unmarked bicorn hat from 7029 skeleton ship attack.

That's all for now. I may do some more later and if anyone has suggestions for newly released set's minifig retrofitting, please share your ideas.

Those clothes and faces look quite good as pirates!

Ah, but I know, it's from this set:

The Nitro Flash.

Ah, I was observing a picture of the newer Snape torso just the other day, and I was thinking how nice it would look as a general historical figure. The newer one has much less purple and I think it looks a little better. :)

The pirates look great, the guy to the far right could almost pass as an Imperial I suppose. I have just one suggestion - One should place the epaulets under the cape as it is not only more historically accurate, but prevents them from bending upwards as they do.

I agree.

Its great to see non pirate faces and torsos being used *y* ! I really like the fig with the goblin torso.

Good to know and I will remedy the inaccuracy, thanks ;-)

Ahhh, what a nice assortment of laddies you have Mr Ghoulrealm. I like how some of those customs are comprised entirely of pieces from non pirate sets.

By the way... Is this thread better of in the Pirate Customs forum?

According to our definition, this one belongs in the MOC forum because these don't contain any custom-made parts.

Well there aren't many that do make customs...perhaps, here, a MOC should be something built of a multitude of bricks, whereas, if it was figure, then it go in there, because it's such a small MOC.

These are nice customs, and neat that you used non-pirate pieces for hem...perhaps we should raid the other themes and take their pieces for our use X-D !

Wait a minute! That pirate second on the left dressed in blue has brown feet - which set do they legs originate from?

Yeah! I know it's hard to see at first. ;-)

It is the Avatar character called Sokka.

Also, I would concur that minifig only mocs would do nicely in Pirate LEGO Customs.
