Lord Beckett Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hello guys, As I got bored this afternoon, I decided to create two torsos for Lego mini figs. Those 2 creations are related to the American war for Independence. The first one is the British General Charles Cornwallis: The second torso belongs to the British Green Dragoons officer Banastre Tarleton: Here is a painting of Tarleton: And here is he when charging the Continentals: Finally, here is my torso: Hope you like them, and don't forget to leave comments. :-$ Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Interesting, have you made those with paint? Mr Tiber Quote
Lord Beckett Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Yes, I don't have Photoshop. :) Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Yes, I don't have Photoshop. :) Well, paint is good enough! Mr Mosana proved that.. I also made some torsos with paint... I think it works good enough. Those torsos are very nice, but I have a little suggestion: Save the pictures as .PNG files. The quality is much higher. Mr Tiber Quote
andy_0306uk Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Yes, I don't have Photoshop. :) Try downloading GIMP v2 - it free and has very similar functions to PainshopPro http://www.gimp.org/ Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 7, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) These designs look very good Lord Beckett! And they are made in Belgium, even better ;-) . I prefer the second one over the first one. Just a bit. The collar of the second torso is nice. There are some quality problems with the images (nothing related with the design!). You can see that around the bottoms of the green coat or in the big red parts of the first torso. Maybe saving them as .png might solve that as Mr. Tiber suggested. Maybe you can give that a try. Our big expert Mosana also saves his torso's as .png (and uses paint), so that might indicate that the quality might be better. I'm looking forward to see more of your torso's in the future !! Lord Beckett Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Thanks, I'll try that next time. I've attempted to do it now with these two, but it didn't work, the quality remains the same. I always wondered why there were such problems with the quality after I modified the pictures but it seems I have now the answer. :) Quote
ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Great job *y* ! I particularly like the dragoon. Quote
Mosana Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Great bodies! Also, as other people have said, it's very important to save these as .PNGs. What do you plan on doing next? Quote

Lord Beckett Posted August 8, 2007 Author Posted August 8, 2007 What do you plan on doing next? I don't know yet... perhaps Mr Mercer from POTC or customized pirate torsos... but I'm afraid I will not have enough time these moments :'-( Quote

If you save a pict as a .PNG, they quality remains the same, unlike .JPG. So the quality of the .JPG will also stay the same. You should save them as .PNG when saving them directly, for converting .JPG to .PNG won't help ;-) . Mr Tiber Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 14, 2007 Governor Posted August 14, 2007 If you were to create them as a vector based images (in a better program than paint) you could resize them as big or small as please wanted then export as .jpg (or whatever) and they would retain their quality. Quote
