Here's a bath towel I bought in LEGOland Germany. And yes, the original pirate captain is on it! But, no, that's not the sillhoute of the BSB, but the one from the duplo ship...

Don't know what made that skull and crossbones go crazy though...

I thought you guys might like it.

Maybe it's a sign of a pirate revival! I've seen enough of these signs in LEGOland...

Let's stay positive, right?

Nice towel! Is this a big one? Like those you sometimes see at the beach?

Unfortunatly not, it's 60 x 120 cm (24 x 47 "). More the kind of towel you take to the swimming pool. But I like it some much I don't want to use it. :-P Afraid the colours will fade after washing or when in touch with chlorine. I think you can only buy it in LEGOland (Germany only perhaps) so perhaps it's more a collector's item. Although, I think I would use it if it was a big one.

Nice find! And a lot better than the black towel with some bricks on it preceeding this one.

I like your (new?) signature by the way! *y*

Thanks, yes it's new! Did it make you click it?

That *is* a nice towel, shame those things never end up in the LEGO stores here in the US...

Oooh, look. *fights it* MUST. NOT. CLICK. SIG. AAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! *clicks*

The towel seems a bit childish for me.

Ah yes. Darn, but I hate childish things.

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to play with my toy pirate ship and make them fight the smiling plastic soldier men.

;) Sorry, couldn't resist. One of my favorite non-brick Pirate collectables is the hat Jolly Roger hat I brought back from the LEGO store in Orlando. Yeah, it's Jack Stone inspired, but it's almost like Red Beard's. :)

Mmmmmh... I think it's the crazy skull and crossbones making it childish. For the rest, I think it's a good way to show: I'm a LEGO fan and proud of it!

Yeah, I don't like the skull and crossbones, but it is still classy and classic.

And I clicked your sig, Mr. Tiber! *sing*

Whoohoo it partially working! People are clicking it! Now I only have to figure out a way to make them comment on my ship...

How long ago did you buy this?

Why doesn't LEGO makes this available on shop.lego.com? Is it a LEGOLAND exclusive?

Yeah, it think so. Why would they put LEGOLAND pirate on it if it wasn't a LEGOland exlcusive? X-D

I bought it on the 18th of July 2007.

That is rather recent indeed. All the recent Pirate LEGO paraphernalia I've seen has been focused towards the 2004 4+ designs. Its very interesting that The LEGO Group should start using a Classic Pirates design - unless of course they just stumbled across a supply of towels that's been sitting in a warehouse for the past 15 years.

Does the towel have a small tag on it specifying which year the design is copyrighted to?

It looks pretty new, I'm pretty sure they made new ones and decided to put classical guy on because they know we be mad if they put 4+ guy on.
