Problem with the pneumatic hoses

I bought yesterday a 8110 Unimog and I have a big problem with it. I cannot connect the pneumatic hoses, especially the blue ones, to the pneumatic valves. Has anyone had this problem before ? The hoses are just to tight, so now I am just looking at a semi-dead Unimog.

Have any ideea on what should i do ?

I had my 8110 hose split legnthwise (also blue). Just contact Lego costumer support

Run some warm water over the ends of the hoses:)

Well ... you can always wet the hoses with 'saliva' before you install them. While wet, it's slippery, once dry, it stays there and won't move.

Thank you guys for the advices, i will try the hot water and saliva advices. I would contact LEGO Customer Service but that would take a long of time to resolve, but i will do that if everything else fails.

I use a little bit of liquid soap on the nozzles. The hoses slide right on then.

I was surprised about the new types of hoses used in the recent pneumatic sets which are much more rigid than the old hoses. I cannot imaging that most children would be capable of attaching these.

I just took apart 42008 and for the life of me could not take apart some of those hoses with my fingers, especially the blue ones. (My thumb nail was bending backwards) In the end I used a flat screwdriver to lever them off.

This model had been on display for almost a year.

Should also note, I have the yellow submarine that has been a display model its whole life (17 years) and its hoses come of easily but are permanently deformed at the ends showing they have been stretched.

I managed to get the hoses on with warm water, it made the more soft. However from what I am hearing keeping models with pneumatics on is a bit of a problem over time, that sucks bad because i let all of my models on display :(

It's definitely true that kids won't be able to plug them, I did struggle myself...too tight but there is a postive side: they hold in place under pressure! back in the days I remember sets like 8460 the pneumatic hoses used to pop out from the valves due to the high pressure.

Me too, but only with blue tubes.

I have this same problem yesterday when disassembling my 42008. I use a bit of heat from the laptop fan to make the hoses more easy to separate but almost cut the hose apart with so much stretching.

If you just pull on the hoses, they act like a Chinese finger puzzle and actually become tighter. To remove them without risk of damage, you actually have to push them rather than pull them by getting into the gap behind the flare and pushing them off. This usually required working your way around the connection at multiple points rather than just trying to lever at one spot. I usually do 4 spots 90 degrees apart in phase.
