MassEditor Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) Not every alchemist has a supermarket around the corner stocked with mystical ingredients. Some actually have to work for those supplies, like this old wizard. His apothecary research requires mushrooms, and there is perhaps no better place to find them than in the Nocturnian swamps. The only problem is not finding yourself on the menu when traveling through the swamp - the critters here are mysterious and dangerous. Old-timers say only fools would venture the swamps alone. Perhaps this wizard has just sampled too much of his own product... ---------------------------- So... still no chapter build from me. Unfortunately "real life" has had me occupied lately but had some time to spend with the bricks the other night and threw this little freebuild together. Nice thing about Arkansas is that I basically just had to look out the window for inspiration - it's real swampy around here! Anyways, thanks for looking. Feedback always appreciated! Slegengr Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Nice build, ME! The trees are realistic with the fungus on the trunk! The dead tree with the 'gator hiding underneath looks great as well. I like the way you make the swamp water with the SNOT dark green bricks, and the protruding black spikes help with the overgrown feel of a swamp. The wizard's coracle is simply nice as well! Quote

Arkansa our Loursiana was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the pics without reading what you had written, although I haven't been there myself yet. Sure would like to go though ... Anyway, fantastic build and very inspirational. Guess I have to start building bigger trees too because I really love those! Quote
IenjoyLego89 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Nice techniques :) I like the placement of the crocodile/dragon head under the roots of the tree. As always great moc! :) Quote
Jorrith Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Lovely build ME! Captures the swamp perfectly and i love those trees! Hail Nocturnus! Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Awesome build and a really funny story. I like your use of dark green color. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 First pic seems to have disappeared (or can the others still see it?). Second pic looks good - I've never seen so many dark green bricks, and I would not have thought that they would make up a great swamp - but they do! Quote

Thanks Slegengr! Though I've used it in another build, the gator head ended up being my favorite part. Glad you liked the cypress knees too! mrcp6d Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 This has a tense feeling that pulls you into the subject matter. Love the fungus on the trees. Sweet MOC! Quote
-Carson Haupt- Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 This is so dramatic! I really like the fungus growing in the trees. Quote

mccoyed Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Love this, especially the realistic fungal growth on the trees and the way they tower over the scene. I can't believe I've never seen that technique for fungus crescents before but it makes so much sense it just dazzles. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Another brilliant swamp build The trees look spectacular, especially the addition of fungi, and the snake The stump and tangle of branches are great too Quote
Adolfo Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Great MOC! Very nice swamp with cool stuffs on the surface and big trees. Congrats! Quote
cesbrick Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Patrick you are the swamp master! Excellent once again. I particularly like the trees (those fungus are an excellent idea) but the little boat is top notch! Quote

I think the fungus helped break up the squareness of the trees too. Regenerate builder Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I really like the black and dark green together. You did a good job of making it look errie and I wouldn't want to be that wizard. Good job! Quote
Gideon Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Another great swamp design from you, I really like the mangrove look of the trees Quote
Mazin Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Fantastic build! So are those black pieces attached to Your swamp somehow? Or is it all just standing on it? I can't figure that out realy Edited January 16, 2015 by Mazin Quote
