jaredchan Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 During April and May 2014, I designed and built 4 LEGO scale models of iconic buildings on Hong Kong Island for LEGO Hong Kong Ltd. The models joined the creations by fellow Hong Kong creators to form a display of the renowned Victoria Harbour skyline at Toys'R'us flagship, Tsimshatsui, Hong Kong. If you are in town, remember to check them out! Central Plaza Location: Wan Chai, Hong Kong Model Height: Approximately 130 bricks (excluding the antenna) / 141 (including the antenna) Construction period: 9 days (excluding research time) Scale 1: 265 Central Plaza was the tallest building of Hong Kong before the completion of 2 International Finance Centre. The triangular shape with corners cut off gave tenants of the building more harbour facing windows. My LEGO model uses a two layer framework to produce and reinforce the triangular shape. The apex of the building is a pyramid with a triangular base, which I replicated using transclear plates and cheese slopes. Many people have asked me about the metallic gold 1 x 2 tiles... there are over 3000 pieces of that on the building. Crazy, huh? The construction period excluded research time, which was mostly spent on studying of blueprints, online search and site visit, was quite substantial but worthwhile. I hope you like them ;-) While you are here, make sure you check out its related project, Central, Hong Kong (1:265) Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Wow, that is just insanely massive and detailed! You even went that far to use tiles instead of bricks to get the right window ratio? KUDOS! Quote
