Hey DrJB Thanks

I started with the gondola-clutch. I tried to build it as small as possible. Then I did the acceleration-rails with all the gearing. Continued by a minimal working radius for the 180-degree-turn. This lead to the overall-dimensions of the station. Check my name out on Facebook and you'll find a lot of photos from the very beginning :) I documented in nearly 100 photos how I came to this MOC. I didn't do a digital version. Just sat in my LEGOs and started with trial and error.

The Ropeway has no real "brother" I wanted to focus on the mechanical part and this part is identical on almost all 3S-Ropeways. So it's a generic model.

I hope it helps you understand the principle now and if you have further questions just ask me.. :)

greetings from snowy Switzerland :)

Thank you Elias, the more I look at the workings in the video, the more fascinating it is. Outstanding job, and thank you for sharing.

Greetings from Chicago, where we're starting to get some snow ...

Awesome creation! I like how the gondolas move just like on the real machines. Good presentation too.

Given a recent discussion on this forum, this is an excellent example of building a Technic model without tires. Oh wait, never mind...

Hey Torso :)

I like wheeled MOCs but when I look at the great builders, for example in the hall-of-fame, I see 90% cars. I wanted to build something else and ended up with even more wheels  Do you have any idea what I could build next as a non-vehicle-moc?

I don't dislike MOCs on wheels. New things that haven't been done before are what interests me, so car MOCs aren't very exciting any more. Those who are interested in cars are unlikely to agree with me though.

Finding ideas for things to build is always the difficult part. The hall of fame is the wrong place to look for ideas. Those are machines that have already been done well. Try looking elsewhere for machines that could be improved. Or build more things on an existing theme. There have been a couple of musicians posted here recently. Look for those and build additional band members. :classic:

This is a truly epic build - congratulations!

I too am a big fan of non-vehicle technic MOCs and unusual mechanisms. (Nothing wrong with vehicles of course, but it is harder to be original.) I spend a lot of time on youtube looking for non-Lego inspiration - search for things like "kinetic sculpture", "mechanism", etc.

One thing I would like to see is a very large scale walker that can actually walk efficiently...

I also like wheeled MOCs ;) That's why I put about 80 wheels in my ropeway. Just now I'm working on an intermediate Station with a Garage for the 15 gondolas that will finally run on the system. Therefore I need another 120 wheels ;) Sums up to 200 wheels in total. More than every other MOC out there I think.

Hi everybody :)

I uploaded a video showing my first attempts of a deflection to store the gondolas in a nearby gondola-garage.

The real ropeways do so to protect the system from heavy winds during the night. Without gondolas attached to the rope the system is not problematic with crosswind.

What do you think of it? Right now I'm experimenting with an alternative to this system.

greetings from Switzerland, Elias

Can't say I've seen it in real life, but it looks promising. After that, maybe you could do something that loads/unloads the gondolas so the won't have to travel empty.

Looks a bit complicated to lift the gondola. I don't want to sound negative or imply that complicated mechanisms are bad. They can be fun to watch, but it doesn't seem likely that it would work that way on real systems. But I also don't really know anything about that. :classic:

Good to see that you're making progress and trying alternative solutions!

Actually it works exactly like this on Funitel-Ropeways. On 3S-Ropeways also quite similar.

It can't really be built more simplified :P But anyway I like complex mechanic-solutions.. Win-Win :)

Thanks! :) Here is a first picture of the new deflector-module built into the conveyor-system:

You see, the intermediate-station will be huge! On the other end, the same conveyor-system will be added and the size therfore even doubled.

Greetings from my LEGO-room :)
