Fish777 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) So if I were to get a new technic set (if), which one of these is best do you think? I want to get into technic, and figured that after 42000 i should think about one of these. Also, which do you think will retire first? EDIT: after looking again, I've taken a fancy to the volvo wheel loader, does anyone have a video of this? Edited November 1, 2014 by Fish777 Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) They are all excelent choices. So you already own a 42000. It kind of depends what you want to do first. 9398 is great for out-of-a box crawler. If you want lots of gears and functional bits but no so much of motors, etc choose 42009. You also get 10 wheels which are great to make your own trucks and trailers, etc... 42030 has the biggest assortment of power functions parts, but not so many gears as 42009. You can find lots of model videos on youtube. I'd suggest you either 42009 or 9398 so you get the PF receivers and remotes which will allow you to make your model RC. The first one to retire should be 9398 because its the oldest, so I'd go for that first? EDIT: And here's the review of the 42030: Edited November 1, 2014 by Zblj Quote
weavil Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I have the 42000 too and it give a far amount of parts. I think the 42030 is a great deal if don't have any PF parts, because its PF parts alone equal about $135. The 42009 has almost half pins, rods, and connectors yet only one motor. I also got the 42029 and I like as a set and parts value. My opinion is get the 42030 and 42029. Then you would have enough parts for some good MOC's. Plus you can use Bricklink to buy spare parts as you go. Quote
Fish777 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) After watching videos, I prefer the 42030 and the 42009 to the 9398. Don't know which of those to get though Edited November 1, 2014 by Fish777 Quote
Moyalmas Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 9398! You'll have lots of fun playing with it. Plus, you have lots of other models you can do with it: just check the topics here (i have 2 9398's and thinking to get a 3rd one ;) ) I also have the 42009, but it's not has fun... must get it motorized eheheheh Quote
N-4K0 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 If the choice is between 9398, 42009 and 42030, I personally would definitely go for 42030. Quote

MajklSpajkl Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I think that with the release of 42030, the 9398 is already out, so only remainig stock is selling, you'd better hurry for that one... Quote
