DanishLegoLover Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 any chance of instructions or LDD file? Quote
Borex Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I bought two cantinas just to make a better version of the cantina. Since i've got so little spare time i'll pretend i made this one okay? :-p Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) This is the MOC you are looking for ! Totally AWESOME ! Brick On 'BJM' ! Edited November 2, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Very well done. Everything being modular, very fine. And then the huge cantina is perfectly well crowded with beings from all over the galaxy. I am impressed. Quote
eurotrash Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Excellent job! Well doen and thanks for sharing it with us! Quote
lowlead Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Oh man, I love this! It's great fun zooming in to check out all the alien patrons - you even included those brunette twins. Also, I like how you elaborated on the drink dispensing gear above the bar area - even a galaxy far, far away needs taps. Good stuff - nicely done, sir! Quote
BJM Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Wow everyone. Thank you all so much for the feedback. Now I am trying out MultiQuote... This is great! It has that jumbled feel that tatooine radiates. All the random angles look perfect. The minifigures are so cool! They look like they should be there! I really like the tantalizing look at the rest of tatooine. I also love that it can open up. I would really like to do something like this, but I don't have the funds or space It would be cool if there was some booths behind the bar though. The angles, especially around the door were really tricky to make work. A lot of time went in to getting the shape something like the plans I have researched. And, yes, I look at it now and feel that I do need to add a bit more to the end behind the bar, I ran out of bricks, but will endeavour... hey, whats a GOTG rocket doing there? :P I was watching the extremely awesome GOTG at the cinema when they stopped at their own cantina and that actually made me want to do this justice. It seemed right that some of the gang were hiding in there. Star Lord, the Sakaaran and a Nova Officer are all inside. Nice work! Is that Chalmun behind the bar helping out Wuhur? Right on Chills. We are a sad bunch, but I just love the idea that Chalmun is running the place. Great work, now that's what you call a Cantina! Never expected to get blogged. Really honoured - sincerely - thank you all for the encouragement. Really nice job on the cantina. I especially like that you have it able to fold up, just as the actual set. What did you do to your pictures by the way? They look like they are very quickly sloppy photoshopped. It is okay to show the cloth beneath, I'd rather have that then some cut off bricks. That's why I like your last picture best. Yep - it was a free photoshop tool. I will definitely work on my presentation skills (I think I was told that at school a lot too ) Again, thanks all. My dream is that we all deserve a decent Cantina! I have never looked at LDD, but am going to research it. Does anyone have any idea how long this might take me? Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I have never looked at LDD, but am going to research it. Does anyone have any idea how long this might take me? Well, if you start off of some cantinas (you can find the lfx here) it shouldn't take too long. LDD is very intuitive and easy to use, so it's easy for beginners to jump in. The hoses are hard to angle, and there are some pretty wonky clipping/part collision physics, but this Moc should translate fine. Happy building! Quote
Schneeds Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Han is going to fire first, right? I love the attention to detail in the side alcoves. Very well done! Quote
montgocloud Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I am in love. It looks perfect! I'm especially fond of the way it opens. It looks like a function LEGO would have if they actually released a UCS Cantina. Quote
Kodan Black Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Incredible. I feel like I can hear Max Rebo playing just looking at it. Can't even imagine the time and energy to get it to this level. Quote
benisnow Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Great Job BJM. There's loads I love in there. Just like TheBear, I've hardly had any time at all in the last six months to work on mine, but I plan on mostly finishing it over the Christmas holidays. I've now finished the first four bases with all lights and alcove roofs (haven't finished the bar though, which I'm still undecided upon how to complete), but don't feel that any pictures I could take would do it justice, so I'll wait until after Xmas and get a friend who's much better at these things to come and take pictures for me. That will leave me 2015 to work on modelling each of the characters. Hopefully the TLG cantina will go on sale a bit in January, so I can buy one or two more to get my full compliment of Bith and Rodians - I've still only got the three Bith band members so far. What I love most about mine (and what my kids go crazy about) is I've put a sound module behind the back wall of the band alcove, so by pressing a panel in the side wall, the band play 3 minutes of the Cantina Song! That won't come across in the photos I'll post in January, but we don't get bored of the band playing whilst we're building and playing! My (old) photos are here: https://www.flickr.c...57645504433496/ For those of you who haven't seen, you should check out TheBear's previous thread with more Cantina discussions on (at http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91514&hl=cantina&st=0) ... Looking forward to hearing more ideas and thoughts before I get building again Quote
TheBear Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Hi benisnow, it is good to hear that you are still working on yours. I bet that sound module is great, you should do a video of it. I look forward to seeing your progress. Quote
dark secret Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 The Tonika Twins is my favorite!!!Great idea! Quote
OCD_Chad Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 On 10/28/2014 at 6:14 PM, TheBear said: That's really cool, you've done a great job both inside and out. All you need are a couple of Jawas sitting out the front to finish it off but, like me, you are probably waiting for the price of them to go down. I really like the way it all still folds out at that size, it makes a great playset and also good for photographing all the different sections at good angles. Thanks for the mention, I am glad you found my thread useful. Unfortunately I haven't made much progress at all on mine but I haven't given up and will get there in the end. The Tonika Twins are very difficult, I have not found any suitable hair piece. This is the best I have come up with so far: The hair is a string with studs on the ends twisted up. It kind of captures the top of the hair style but it still needs hair at the sides so it isn't that great. The face is Barriss Offee with the tattoo carefully removed with a pencil eraser. Dark blue torso and tan hands. Ideally the torso should have a custom decal on it. Of course the other sister is in green, and her face should have green lips but there are no suitable faces for her that I have found. Here are a few more of the obscure characters from the movie that I've done: 1. Ariq Joanson 2. Lirin Car'n 3. BoShek 4. Cantina Dude 5. Leesub Sirin 6. Yerka Mig 7. Hrcheck Kal Fas / Sai'torr Kal Fas (their heads should be tan, but that's the closest we've got) You could also make the two Duros with this head. What parts did you use for BoShek? Quote
