Hi,

I was looking for technic set with starter pneumatic parts, what could you recommend for me?

I kinda like that 9641 pneumatics add-on set

Sadly there is nothing available new from Lego with big cylinders or manual pump. So your best bet is something used. 8455 as the obvioius one with 10 of them and 2 pumps, but 8049 should be good value wise. It comes with two different pumps and two cylinders.

If you are just looked for pneu parts and not complete sets, it's better to go to bricklink and pick out some of each kind!

Cheap and fast.

10 minutes ago I just ordered a 8455 from BL.

Just because of the many pneu parts!

10 cylinders 7 switches 2 pumps. And all the rest of the parts for almost the same money as 10 loose cylinders!

If you can get one for a reasonable price, do! It's a great set on its own merits, and definitely serves as an excellent pneumatic parts pack.

I would even say: 8455 is a must have Set for every technic builder. One of the best TLG ever made... In Germany you can find a used One in very Good condition for about 50 to 60€ if you are Little patient...

mmmm.... not really cheap though. One cylinder is around 7-8 bucks a piece USD. One switch is around 2-3 bucks a piece. You buy several, after shipping you are spending nearly as much as you would on a complete set.

Yeah it adds up of course. Still, if you but it all in one batch, one shipping cost, you come a long way.

The 8455 is one of the few sets that have pneu en masse so to speak and if you find it at a good price that may very well be the best solution.

What I meant, perhaps, was that don't buy Unimog + Tow truck (or similar) just for your pneu collection!

I'm not sure about that, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard about some faulty cylinders that came with 8455. Something about them being more prone to leakage. Has anyone of you heard something similar?

Never had a problem with mine. Even if you did have, say, 2 leaky cylinders, 8455 has so many that it would still leave you with enough for many models. 8455 is also just such a joy to build and play with - it's really ingeniously designed.
