Hi All!

You could figure it out from the title, i would like to build an artic truck. The idea came from the model of 2015:

artic_truck.jpg

I will use 2 small sets: 9391 Mini Crane (218 parts) and 8259 Mini Bulldozer (165 parts). It is far from the 600 parts, but sometimes fewer parts is bigger challenge.

UPDATE!!!!

Sorry for late, I'm glad to introduce my C model of 9391 + 8259 an ARTIC TRUCK!

It counts 342 pieces (80 pieces of track) from 383 pieces(118 pieces of track)(+extra parts). I used some of the extra parts.

The truck has a lot of geared and non-geared funtions:

Geared functions:
  • Articulated steering
  • front blade up/down
  • boom up/down

Non-gear funtion:
  • boom rotating
  • winch
  • bed tipper
  • openable bed tipper rear door

Other attributes and details:
  • seats imitation
  • exhaust tips
  • headlights on top and a small taillight
  • the bed is covered, it doesn't loose the cargo

Leftover parts:

More pics soon! Thank you!

Sweet! Looking forward to it.

And I like the fact that you are doing it with smaller sets, instead of maximizing the available parts

Sorry, but i didn't have time to make photos and description about my model and a bigger update(upgrade) is on the way, so you have to be satisfied with a small teaser pic:

Cute tracks!

And as I can see, it will be built in yellow.

Oh and what mechanism did you use at the upper part of the tracks?

Here it is:

It is a very simple mechanism, the blue pin hold together the liftarm and the 3 stud beam. The 3L axle with bush is a spacer. The track fits to the gap at the top corner, which doesn't leave the track to fall off.

I actually do no't like incorporating that type of connection into my mocs, you should not ether.

Instead you should use ether use a small liftarm or one of the triple connecters with the hole through the center.

I agree with you, but it is a C model and I have limited parts unfortunately :sceptic: So this was the best solution what i could make ... but i will try to rethink. Thanks the advice

Brickshelf is down again :sceptic: I highly suggest using Bricksafe or another host for your images instead.

Yes, i will use another host :sceptic:

MOD: now it is done, i use Google+ furthermore.

After your entry in the MINI contest, I'm really interested to see how this turns out :sweet:

Thank you, i try to do my best.

This contest is almost a mini contest for me, because i have only ~400 pieces which include ~100 pieces of track, so i have only ~300 usable elements ...hmm, it's a challenge:)

Very very nice!! I've said it before, but I like the fact you've chosen two smaller sets

And it's cool you've built a model from the 2015 product line.

Well done.

"You do not have permission to view this album"

This is a great model, I'm surprised at what you managed to pull off, great job! :classic:

Thank you  . Theoretically you can see the pics now

Cool (pun intended). Many functions for such a small model

Do you see any opportunity for a slightly better colour distribution (I know it is almost impossible with this limited amount of parts)? It looks a bit confused right now.

This ended up very nice indeed!!

But I agree with Jeroen, colours look a bit messy.

Also; is it possible to use the outer boom, to add an extending function as well? :classic:

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately i can not change the colour scheme because of the limited parts :sceptic: The cabin and the bed is black(except the rear door) and the chassis is yellow. This is the best i could do :sceptic:

I didn't use extendable boom, because it was too heavy and too long for this scale.

Colour scheme can be better, if i dismiss 1 or more functions, but i think the functions are more important in technic than appearance

Not always IMho: there are several Technic mocs that are poor of functions (basic functions like drive and steering) but fantastic to see them ;)

Nice job However, i like it!
