I have become quite obsessed in trying to find and buy sets that have the old Lego panels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=154

I have several sets with the old mould design panels, i also recently got a Racers 8146 which has lots of these older panels. I belive the last Technic set to use these panels was 8297 and also the only set to have them in Dark Bluish Grey:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8297-1

The panels lasted a bit longer on the Racers line with the last set being produced in 2009, set 8167: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8167-1

While i agree there are less building techniques available on these old panels due to the design i think aesthetically they look alot better then the new panels.

What do you think?

I actually like all designs. The are all quite different and have their own possibilities for use in a design.

Mounting point wise, I like the newer panes better.

My personal motto: New parts are always useful, just so long as we get the old ones released at least once in all possibly necessary colors(and if it's only a single one in a single set, preferably make that one at the low end of the price-point).

Honestly, I've never built a model with the new panels because I try to keep all my sets together for my shelves (Unimog, Crawler, Supercar, 41999, Crane MKII)

I would say the old panels are better for sport cars...

...and the new panels for offroaders and trucks because they are more straight/angled.

= I like both of them.
