Richard Dower Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I have become quite obsessed in trying to find and buy sets that have the old Lego panels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=154 I have several sets with the old mould design panels, i also recently got a Racers 8146 which has lots of these older panels. I belive the last Technic set to use these panels was 8297 and also the only set to have them in Dark Bluish Grey:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8297-1 The panels lasted a bit longer on the Racers line with the last set being produced in 2009, set 8167: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8167-1 While i agree there are less building techniques available on these old panels due to the design i think aesthetically they look alot better then the new panels. What do you think? Quote
Polo-Freak Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 i like the new Panels more, than the old one ;-) Quote
Balrog Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I actually like all designs. The are all quite different and have their own possibilities for use in a design. Mounting point wise, I like the newer panes better. Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 New ones have more types, better mounting options and less holes and such irregularities. Quote
grum64 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 ...the old Lego panels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=154 My Dear Old Gramp used to say that 'every day's a day at school' and today's one of those days because I didn't know there were old & new panels. Thank you 'Teacher' Richard for providing today's lesson Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 My personal motto: New parts are always useful, just so long as we get the old ones released at least once in all possibly necessary colors(and if it's only a single one in a single set, preferably make that one at the low end of the price-point). jodawill Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I actually prefer the old brick style Technic sets. Quote
swisstechnic Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Honestly, I've never built a model with the new panels because I try to keep all my sets together for my shelves (Unimog, Crawler, Supercar, 41999, Crane MKII) I would say the old panels are better for sport cars... ...and the new panels for offroaders and trucks because they are more straight/angled. = I like both of them.
