DLuders Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 What a realistic-looking Lego Technic VW Golf! You did a great job with the Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf file. Quote
apemax Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 What a great looking VW Golf. looks like it works really well too. Nice job on the bonnet and doors. Well done. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Good work on it! Love the fat tyres! You powered an older diff with a 12 tooth gear? Quote
Saberwing40k Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Good work on it! Love the fat tyres! You powered an older diff with a 12 tooth gear? Not exactly. He used 14z bevel gears, but that does not do anything other than power the fake engine, which is the only reason he can get away with that. It's a very clever little car, I like it. Quote
fourlord Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Thanks guys for comments. I start every project with LDD because of it's simplicity, and in every release its getting better and better ;) Quote
TimH Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Very nice work! did you base your MOC on a mk1 Golf GTI? Quote
rm8 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Looks 100% like golf. Sad that it is rear wheel drive. Sure you can make it front wheel drive at this scale Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Fantastic looking car. And it handles so well, you must have out a lot of hours in the LDD an whatnot. Can you make a movie with it driving a cone course of similar, to show off the handling even more? Quote
fourlord Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Very nice work! did you base your MOC on a mk1 Golf GTI? It is based on regular Golf :) Looks 100% like golf. Sad that it is rear wheel drive. Sure you can make it front wheel drive at this scale Hm... front wheel drive requires alot more room and certanly there is no room for FWD differential :p Fantastic looking car. And it handles so well, you must have out a lot of hours in the LDD an whatnot. Can you make a movie with it driving a cone course of similar, to show off the handling even more? It makes very good turning radius, and ackermann steering plus differential helps to make turns with allmost no unnecessary friction. The car is allready dissasembled since i am working on a new project, and i don't have enough parts for two simultanius builds. Edited August 5, 2012 by fourlord Quote
Carrera124 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Nice body and great features. But to be honest: the wheels are much too big, so it looks like an extreme-tuned version. Using smaller wheels would provide a much more realistic "Golf" street car look. Quote

mahjqa Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Very, very nice model. I dig the extras you put in, like the cylinder engine and the door mechanism. Very recogniseable, too. Quote
grohl Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Easily recognizable. One of my favourite 80's cars. Quote
rm8 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Very interesting to see model on these tires, even in render Edited August 6, 2012 by rm8 Quote

You should try to make it 100% authentic if you have some spare time, that is why i shared my LDD instructions with you. Like i said i have allready disassembled it for i am working on another project. Nice body and great features. But to be honest: the wheels are much too big, so it looks like an extreme-tuned version. Using smaller wheels would provide a much more realistic "Golf" street car look. That is true, but these tyres give a bit more Lego babyface feel to it ;). Try using LDD instructions to improve it if you like Quote

Bob Kojima Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 WOW i'm a huge VW fan. i've owned 8 of them so far. you did a fantastic job on this one. so many functions cramed into such a small scale. bob Quote
Meatman Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 This is very well done! Congrats on a great model! Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Very great render. that's a lot of work for that render, but you see the love fore the mark one inn it Quote
Andyrccar Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Very cool , i like the black hood , feels like carbon fiber Quote
The Blue Brick Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I love this as I now own a Golf R. IMO, you have nailed the design and exterior of the car perfectly by looking at older models. This makes me want to get into Technic, which I only have a couple sets of. Quote
