Minifigures Series 9 Guessing Game
#1
Posted 16 July 2012 - 11:47 PM
I start, my guesses for series 9 (out in January '13) are:
1)Medusa
(I really believe they will reuse the snake tail piece for a collectable minifig)
2)Basketball Player
(They were in a lot of team sports but I can't believe they weren't into Basketball)
3)Trekker/Mountaineer
4)Female Elf
(There are a lot of female counterparts and they can use LOTR pieces)
5)Groom
(They can use the ring mold, and they will surely do a Groom sooner or later)
6)Ancient Greek figure (male)
(They did a lot of storic people and I really miss a greek philosopher or similar)
7)Female Zombie
(They casted a female zombie in Monster Fighters, but I believe it would be likely as a collectible minifig too)
8)Ballerina
(Probably reusing the Fairy Skirt)
9)Indian Snake Charmer
(I reuse this concept from my guessing games for series 8 because I really believe we will have one sooner or later)
10)Medieval Female Fighter
(maybe Angeli wasn't that far in having such minifigure)
11)Golf Player
(I may repeat myself, I strongly believe in this fig)
12)Shaolin Monk
(Like toth's design)
13)Female Aquatic Monster
(Like the Swamp Monster in Monster fighters, but female)
14)Convict
(Because I still believe we will have one sooner or later)
15)Female Native American
16)Baker, with bread.
Let's see how many I got this time... last time it was zero...

you take a minifig in suit, give him a ring from lotr and that's it. it doesn't add anything new. not in terms of parts as we already have plenty of black suits torsos, not in terms of figure. nothing. don't make this suggestion, please!
things like sea captain, sea pirates, pastry chefs, restaurant chefs, etc. these are just titles to something which are a-dime-a-dozen. there is no difference between a pastry chef or a sou-chef or a head chef in legoland. every single one wears a chef hat and is white.
don't make these mindless recommendations which are extremely niche in terms of target audience. we want better CMF series, not more mediocrity.
baseball catcher with mitts and new headgear i can understand but not another ordinary baseball player with different print.
news reporter? how is that any different from any ordinary guy in suit?
french guy with a baguette? take the mime and give it yellow head and hands, and a baguette.
canadian mountie - take the current forest police, done.
magician? buy s1 magician from BL for below cost price of $1.50. done. you don't need a rehash of an unwanted figure for $2.99. totally mindless.
so no more pop star or rock star or dj or fitness instructor in non-pink colors or guy with headphones, or ice skater, figure skater, skateboarder, skier, etc. we have plenty of parts from the 8 series to make like 100s of varieties of these stuff.
what i like to see (which were superbly suggested here as well):
1. tiki shaman with the gungan oval shield as headgear - and a scary polynesian printed mask on it.
2. terra cotta warrior - preferably with new stone chain-linked armor.
3. roman centurion with new removable curass armor (or can be spartan or greek hoplite but curaiss is the important item here).
4. man in animal costume - another good one. i prefer lion or bear but chicken suit is cool too. we'll be seeing lots of family guy mocs if that's the case.
5. medusa is good too.
6. angel or devil.
7. elf queen.
8. modern-day archer - with the new hawkeye compound bow and a new hip-worn quiver (good for parts).
9. gaul, with new bullet helmet with slots for horns but come with side feather plumes (can be re-used for angels too) -> can be used to make custom captain america figure.
10. victorian era lady - with can-can cloth skirt instead of slope, and thespian's neck piece in new color, and wig. can reuse wig in white for a judge or a british lord. can reuse cloth skirt for a western lady or a can-can dancer.
11. generic super hero - head print with masked eye and a confident bordering on arrogance smile/smirk. torso with some alphabet in decorative design(perhaps O for Octan-man or L for Lego-man). comes with a cape in new color like bright orange or bright purple.
12. a crazy, old gold digger/prospector with the johnny thunder hat worn with the folded side in front, a pickaxe, a barrel and a dynamite. head - a crazed look with a toothy grin, with white side burns and stubbles.
13. swat/riot police - use the new square shield and the hockey player helmet but with transparent but full visor instead of the gridded visor.
14. bellhopper is good too.
15. an american puritan/settler with musket and turkey (see google images for sample).
16. genghis khan (http://www.lovehkfil...enghis_khan.jpg) - new helmet, new chain-link armor.
17. a man in full body plaster and crutches.

1. Lion suit guy. They seem to want to have some animal people every now and who better than the king of the jungle. I would like to see the head similar to that of Luna Lovegood's in the new Harry Potter game. Maybe add in the butcher's steak as an accessory.
2. 1700/1800s judge with gavel and powdered wig.
3. Guy with toga and scroll
4. Female elf. Maybe with a sword or amulet instead of a bow. I'd like one with longer hair in yellow skin, but an evil elf might be nice to see sometime too. That would just change the color of the skin unfortunately (most likely).
5. Female flight attendant in uniform with tray.
6. Friar Tuck type with bald patch on head similar to one of the new Hobbit molds. Maybe a mug as an accessory because those friars loved to drink.
7. Davy Crockett type with hat and rifle.
8. Female beekeeper. Could have a hazmat similar helmet. A net or small beehive shape as accessory.
9. Bride of Frankenstein. Not the best timing since Halloween is so far away from this release date, but if they don't release her in the Monster Fighters series, this would be a good place to do it.
10. Different baseball player/team. Might be better for series 10 due to Opening Day ceremonies. Mitt instead of bat similar to the boxing glove.
11. Different boxer, maybe black trunks/gloves. He could be the "evil" boxer and since GB Olympics has the blue boxer, why not add another color.
12. "Aladdin" type with fez hat and printed open vest with bare chest underneath. Maybe some stolen food for an accessory. I would say lamp, but that would be silly since the genie has that. Throw in anther monkey mold instead I guess.
13. Grandma for the little visitor to visit. Maybe a cane accessory.
14. Violinist female. Violin could be neat to fit in the official case, but that might be too small/detailed.
15. Faun like Mr. Tumnus to go with the fantasy Minotaur.
16. Torero. Only we don't want any animals injured. Just the outfit and a red blanket could look neat.
We'll see what happens with the next series. I need to save up money with all these great themes coming out at that same time.

This is my guess for series 9:
1. Male cave child with a club and short legs
2. Guy in lion suit with a piece of meat and/or a bone
3. Wizard with a pointy hat, beard and a wand
4. Golf player with a golfclub and a white stud (golfball)
5. Groom with a wedding ring
6. Male robber with a gun and a crowbar
7. Male baker with a bread
8. Ballerina with a ballerina-accessoary
9. Female hippie with a guitar
10. Female elf with a bow and a shield
11. Male photograph/tourist with a camera
12. Female scientist
13. Female librarian with a pen and a book
14. Old woman with a crutch and a cat
15. Snowman with a broom and a new molded head so you can use a LEGO carrot as a nose
16. King with a crown and maybe a sword?
I think that the bags will be dark green, purple or gray.
