Brick Devil Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Hi Guys. First of all, I introduce myself: I'm Cris, I'm Italian and, as it can be expected, my Englsh is not at UK level. I'll try anyway to do my best in order to write clear, undertandable and hopefully avoiding unwanted ways to say that could be misunderstood. I' posting this message regarding the 8258 Track with Crain, excellent model that in my opinion has been developed with an error that generates a technical problem before and then a damage. The problem is visible at the 4th gear after the electric motor. There are exactly a first gear connected to the motor axis. Then a second gear, just beside the first. Then another axle and finally two 90° gears, one black and one "white, or light pink, or nat" (I do not know how to describe that color). The effect of the problem is located exactly on these two 90° gears. When actuating the movements of the rotation, the four feet and the first section of the crain, everything works as it should, so no problem. When actuating the movement of the second section of the crain, the two 90° gears start clicking/jumping/unengaging and the friction gear on the crain does not intervent as it should, so, in few seconds, all the teeth of the light pink gear break or bend. Did anyone see this problem? Fixes? Comments from Lego? Thanks forn an answer. Cris. PS. Maybe this problem has already been reported. I honestly didn't go through all the posts; if this is the case, the link to the post(s) will be enough. Please do not tell me "read before making spend time" as another famous forum did (reason why I decided to leave it). PS2. I'm a 40 years old AFOL. In case anyone want to see my collection, this is the link (http://cristianoruggeri.malpensa.net/passioni/Lego_mania/lego_la_mania.htm) to my personal web site, Lego section. There are more or less 90 sets (all of them mine), with 33 technic (other four are coming soon). Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I had the very same problem. Go through all the gear of the second arm and amke sure everything runs smoothly, with no friction. Sometimes an axle bush squeezed too hard generates enough friction for the gears to slip. Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) Please take a look at the modifications Designer Han has made for the 8258 http://www.designer-han.nl/lego/. It made my 8258 function properly. He has also made some optical improvements. Edited June 4, 2010 by Jurgen Krooshoop Quote
Brick Devil Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 OK, guys. Thanks both. I'll implement he changes in the next days. Bye. Cris. Quote
