paave Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi, Summer is ending, and I decided to create something to make another outdoor video. So, here’s my trial truck: 4x4 PF: XL, M, IR, LiPo Leaf spring suspension Video: Quote
vmln8r Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 That's excellent! It seems incredibly capable; great work on keeping it simple and light. Quote
paave Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Thank you! Will you make LDD? I don't work with LDD, neither planning to make instructions. But it doesn't seem hard to recreate I think; more photos on Brickshelf soon, as usual. Edited August 31, 2016 by paave Quote
syclone Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Awesome!Love that tubular body! I can make an LDD from photos if you want :) Quote
Imanol BB Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 It looks and performs really well, nice work. Quote
Lego2016Lego Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Awesome!Love that tubular body! I can make an LDD from photos if you want :) You like making LDDs don't you because you say this at almost every topic Quote
JJ2 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Very cool, the leaf-spring suspension is a nice idea. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) I tried that suspension on previuos MOCs and I know well how good it works. Awesome truck, I like the tubular body but I would change it for liftarms to get less weight and more structural rigidity. Edited August 31, 2016 by jorgeopesi Quote
mihai_9600 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Very nice! What's the usual length of the flex axles used for a leaf spring suspension? I would like to buy some of them and don't know which size. Quote
Imanol BB Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) It depends, large trucks which dont need too much suspension but must take a lot of weight tend to use short leaf spring suspension with rigid axles, but if you want to make an small model like this one, a 7L flex axle installed in the chassis with an small curvature or in a U position should be enough. 2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Very cool build! Extremely low weight...excellent... Quote
agrof Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Mr. Paave, another great build! Proportions are good, the concept is good, and I am just amazed by the capability of it. LXF, I fully support your desire for making LDD models. Quote
paave Posted September 1, 2016 Author Posted September 1, 2016 Very nice! What's the usual length of the flex axles used for a leaf spring suspension? I would like to buy some of them and don't know which size. It's 11. Thanks all. LXF, You can make LDD if you like. Quote
syclone Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Doing it And yup, I like making digital models , that way I see how the model is built even if I don't have the pieces necessary Quote
nerdsforprez Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 As commented on mocpages, great job. As someone who also likes to build light on several of my projects, this is excellent. Quote
syclone Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) Only the bodywork left to do, which lenght are the flex axles in the wheelarches? Current progress: I don't get enought angle out of the suspension, also the LDD is glitching and doesn't want to connect the receiver and the plate where they should be, now they are 1 stud outward, like the battery box. The turquoise is the spring , not available in LDD Edited September 2, 2016 by LXF Quote
paave Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 Only the bodywork left to do, which lenght are the flex axles in the wheelarches? I used 11L axles for everything here. Quote
syclone Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) Finished the LDD file , download Bricksafe page NOTES: The cabin can't be connected correctly because of a collision. The flex axles don't bend enought in LDD Edited September 2, 2016 by LXF Quote
ScaleCarModels Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Great MOC the way you built the body is genius. Quote
Nebulaire Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 @Paave : your moc is amazing, the idea is brillant. Thanks to knight and his LDD files, I ordered parts to built your MOC Quote
vmln8r Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Thanks for the instructions! I haven't dived into trial trucks much, so building a copy was a great learning exercise - the leaf springs in particular work incredibly well! Quote
Nebulaire Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I reveived yesterday all the missing parts : I'm impressed by the offroad capacity, even with low battery. I'd have a small problem. The weight repartition is not good on my truck : I'm using stand battery box, which is quite heavy. Do you think the problem comes from that ? Quote
