REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6
xyxstradus replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
January can't come sooner =_= I really want that sleepyhead one. I love the teddy and the hair piece. I also want that intergalactic girl, mostly for the helmet. This series is one of the more "colourful" ones. -
Lego is out of their minds!
xyxstradus replied to madoka's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
If you noticed, they even released a pricy card album so I guess the logic behind it is that the cards are meant to be expensive, since the figure itself should really only account for 1/3 the entire price. Of course, it also seems they're trying to market them same as action figures, but with more accessories, and of course a "pricy" card. And as for the overall pricing, it seems they've gone and scaled up all the other themes price to parts ratio to that of the Star Wars sets. -
Review: 2516 Ninja Training Outpost
xyxstradus replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like this set, for the fact that its about half the price of the game figure, and doesn't use Chinese plastic. The only downside is TLG knows how easy it is to get black ninja pieces, so the other set figures like Zane and Jay will cost a lot more to get. -
I don't really understand the rationale behind making the individual figures that expensive and not making them out of the same plastic as the set figures. It will certainly make buying these figures on the secondary market a bit of a gamble :P

Review: 2257 Spinjitzu Starter Set
xyxstradus replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
To be honest I only wanted to buy a set to collect the figs, but after seeing the leg joint, I can tell its the same quality as the collectible minifigs and not of the regular figures from normal sets. I may skip this theme altogether, or simply wait until it inevitably goes on clearance :P -
Time Cruisers was one of the most memorable themes in my mind, particularly because it struck me as so...disheveled in the sense that it seemed like a mashup of different pieces. I also remember it because I have the big purple cotainer that came as a bonus with one of the sets :P

REVIEW: 8803 LEGO Minifigures Series 3
xyxstradus replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Another great review of the minifig series by you! Thank you! I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, and maybe I'm wrong, but is the gorilla suit figure the only one with a back decal? None of the figs from series 1 or 2 had any printing on the back whatsoever. -
Just got my Advent Calendar set today and the pink knight has finally made his appearance! I suspect the pink knights are a result of being the last print before changing to a new cartridge or refill, hence the watered down white colour causing the distinct pink.

LOL! when I saw manscaping I was acutally expecting something totally different xD Still a nice, simple design!
-
Small, yet so detailed. It really has a "forest" feel to it, with all the lush green and the rocky path. Well done!
-
I'm anticipating a second wave later this year. They did the same with the previous castle set; first wave is with crown knights and second wave was trolls, orcs and dwarves.
-
The only thing I see missing from all this is the fiery aftermath :P Other then that, great job!
-
As if the wait isn't torture enough already :P Kidding aside, I don't really see much wrong with the figure. As for the decals on the feet, I guess its not bad if you assume hes wearing sandals? Looks like I'm going to be shelling out big money to try and horde these bad boys. Is the spear a single piece? or do you mount the tip onto the rest of the spear?

Grouping Factions into a Super Faction of Castle
xyxstradus replied to Cpt. Dan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I wouldn't say I have a super faction, I just kinda rationalize that the lion knights and crown knights were once under one banner but the crown knights defected and started their own kingdom. They'll occasionally band together to fend off the dragon knights but beyond that don't get along too well. As for my other characters like black falcons and forestmen, I group them under a loose rogue organization that's basically a collection of very small factions that work together to fend off any threats from the bigger kingdoms. -
The Battle of Grunwald Painting in lego

For an art noob like me I couldn't tell it apart from the real thing :P
