Maybe the arrival of the Rover cutter was not as recent as suspected, at least not judging from what has been achieved at Cutlass Cay, the hideout of the Gentleman Privateer, which was now nearing completion. The last of the guns are currently being swayed onto the battlements in final preparation of the hideout The very gentleman himself, fencing with one of his mates Birds-eye view of the hideout The gentleman privateer is always interested in a mutually profitable deal, so if any like-minded would be interested in setting up a small network of hideouts, or brokering access to Cutlass Cay, feel free to pm me. C&C welcome - I find I enjoyed building something entirely piratical for a change. :)

The Rover privateer The Rover privateer has recently arrived to Terra Nova, its origin unknown. Its commander is known only as "The Gentleman Privateer", and easily recognisable by his bowler and rapier. The only hint as to his origins is his distinct high-class Corlander accent and his noble manners. The cutter itself is swift and manoeuvrable, and well suited to snap up unsuspecting merchant shipping in the rich sea lanes of Terra Nova. It is manned by a hardened crew of buccaneers, and armed with 6 heavy carronades, and will be a match for most smaller traders, while being able to outrun most patrolling warships. Only time will show what mischief the Gentleman Privateer and his bunch of Buccaneers is up to. ______________________________________________ Thanks for watching - this was a fun little build I made for the quick start guide, and I figured it was worth trying out the black flag mechanics. "Are you quite sure this is a good idea, sir?" the mate asked the bowler-wearing gentleman. "We haven't exactly seen much success up until now... Which, by the way... How do you secure the funding?! "Never you mind the funding, my friend" he found himself being cut off. "One little cutter did not do the trick. A larger lugger did neither. But together! I have had them drawn up by the same line as the Rover and the Defiant, you see..." The Gentleman Privateer never gives up, despite a few... minor... setbacks. So hereby sistershipping the Rover and the Defiant as the Maverick (cutter) and Audacious (lugger).

The Defiant Lugger Recently, any dreams of greatness, fame, wealth, infamy, or whatever drives a privateer, was shattered for the Gentleman Privateer, as the Rover had been sunk. The crew had managed to escape the sinking cutter, and made it back to their hideout. However, neither the Gentleman himself, nor his crew, are given to defeatism, and have been keen to get back to sea. So, as soon as their new vessel was ready, they were out an about, testing and exercising. The new vessel, the Defiant, is a large three-masted lugger, which shares many of the characteristics of the cutter. Fast, weatherly, and maneuverable, it is perfect for privateering. The Defiant carries 6 pounders, four a broadside, plus two chase guns fore and aft, as well as a large crew. Hopefully, she will prove more effective than the Rover, and bring success to the Gentleman Privateer. ________________________________________________________________________________________ A large lugger, which was really fun to build. I will license her as a class 4 (see in spoiler a comparison shot with the class 5 Ironsides). She really is quite large with the tall rig, but her hull is fairly light. I really like how she turned out, hull and rigging both. I am going to run into a problem with my photo setup when I need to photograph larger vessels, as she really takes up almost all of my photobackground. C&C is as always welcome.
