This is my entry for the Mini-Challenge: The Grand Road of Nellisa. "Action on the Road" Somewhere near the Terelli Hills things are going to be heating up very soon. The Corringtonean coach and the Eslandolean coach are facing each other. None of the drivers is willing to give way... the passengers are siding with them. Who will be the first one to steer the coach into the swamp? And what lies ahead? Some people on the side of the road seem to be waiting for their chance... [Build contains 8 minifigs and one monkey] The larger versions of the pictures can be found on flickr C&C welcome! [Number of studs: 48 * 81 = 3888] .

I'd like to present a piraty island that ArchitectureFan and myself have created: "Dodo Island" was part of the pirate layout @ Brickmania Antwerpen in November. That is one of the Dodos (created by ArchitectureFan). Here are a few more from a WIP shot: I was quite happy with the waterfall: Some strange characters have appeared on the island: The island was huge when built at home (and we were not able to take decent pictures). As part of the pirate layout the island was small (and we were not able to take decent pictures). C&C Welcome! ArchitectureFan & Captain Braunsfeld

.. after all the buckets had been filled the Colonel told his men to build: Sand Castles This is one of the small scenes that took place on "Dodo Island" (which actually seems to be a part of the beach next to Pontelli) "Dodo Island" was presented at Brickmania Antwerpen last month. C&C welcome!

The East Wind Trading Company has invested money and effort to build and equip a pirate hunting ship: The King Archibald. Captain John Maynard is quite proud of his ship and his crew. I will license this as an Armed Sloop - Class 2 A. And Colonel Brickinson wants the ship to be dedicated to fight the pirate threat. So (as I am not very apt at the MRCA details) I will hand this ship to any Eslandolean volunteer to handle it in the MRCA. Actually, I have to admit that this is not my ship design. I have tried to build my version of the great ship created by -DoNe- It looks great, but it is also very fragile...

Old Redbeard McDuff was sceptical: This mysterious new pirate who named himself "The Black Moustache" was visiting him, even offering to bring presents. Yet, still, when he saw Moustache's crew unloading a golden treasure chest he was determined not to trust the new pirate on the block. There was something strange about the crew but he could not put a finger on it. They sure looked like pirates. And they said they wanted to bring a treasure in exchange for information. That is why they came to White Skull Island. "Arrr. Hi there" said the Black Moustache. "We brought you something, Redbeard McDuff" "... first of all I'll give you this well-trained parrot." "Polly", the parrot exclaimed. "Jolly good", McDuff replied, thinking: And now I will hand you this cup of poisoned wine... Then things happened quite quickly. Ugly things, rather not shown here... (if you don't like scenes of violence please stop reading here.) The Black Moustache's gang fought in perfect unity, almost as if they were elite troops in disguise. "... and I thought it was my trap..." was the last thing that went through McDuff's mind. When the Black Moustache left the island, there was no-one left alive. [second Speaker] White skull island has been taken. [First Speaker] Good. Any casualties? [second Speaker] Not on our side. But I fear that rumours will start to spread. The operation was not as clean as the "Three skull trap". [First Speaker] Rumours are intended to spread! But wait, let us make the next operation look more like an accident again. The story is getting darker and my family has protested and complained about the pictures... So, most of the pictures are not here but in the corresponding album on flickr. C&C welcome!

Last night Queen Beatrice of Oleon had a series of strange dreams: Her first dream took her to the Kingdom of Corrington ... Queen Annetta was addressed by a strange ambassador ... .. unfortunately the conversation took place in Corringtonish. Startled by this strange dreamy vision, Queen Beatrice turned in her bed and fell into a second dream: She found herself in Eslandola, in King Fernando-Augusto VII's study. ... everything seemed normal, but something was different... Yet she could not quite point her finger at it. (Well, you hardly point when you are asleep...) Again she turned in her sleep - and entered the third dream: This was Oleon. The South Gate of the Palace. There were Philip I and the Lord Chancellor - and she saw the strange ambassador again. Suddenly she was awake, in her bed, realising that it was already late in the morning. "Thank to the Gods", she sighed, "it was only a dream." She rose to enter the gardens. Just like in her dream she found her husband and the Lord Chancellor at the South Gate. "Philip", she called out, "I had the most strangest dreams." Philip I and the Lord Chancellor turned towards her. "Tell me, my Dear", said Philip. "We were just talking about the Brick Seas Purge of 616." C&C Welcome

[Voiceover] August 616. Having run into a trap set up by the evil pirate Gisberth the "Black Moustache" has to surrender: Gisberth: Now, what have we got here ... the infamous Black Moustache. Let us see who is the man behind that false beard! Gisberth: As I would have guessed - Colonel Brickinson of Eslandola. Gisberth: So we found out what you did. And you will surely tell us why you did it. In the meantime, until we hear your tale, we have a nice place where you can stay. And you can leave your hat on. And so Colonel Brickinson was imprisoned by Gisberth and his men with no hope to escape. The story of the Black Moustache seems to have come to a sudden ending... Gisberth: Muwahahaha! His evil crew: Muwahahaha! [second Speaker] Brickinson has been captured by the evil pirate Gisberth! [First Speaker] We must take action at once. Get in touch with our new friends. [second Speaker] I will. [First Speaker] And it may be time for you to set out on a journey. No time to lose. Another lovely Saturday morning. Shots firing, sabers clinking, blood is splashing... Captain Cookie was beaten. He had lost his blade and his cookie, had stumbled backwards and was now leaning against a box of ammunition. His men were in terror or dead. Time seemed to stand still for a second. "Got you, Captain Cookie" the "Black Moustache" shouted. "Now you will pay for your sins!" "That ain't workin', mate" Captain Cookie replied, producing a scroll. "Well, what is that about?" the Black Moustache inquired. "Listen, mate, you come here uninvited but victorious and all that. Pretty cool stuff, I must admit, but I have signed the contract, dude!" "Let me see." The Black Moustache took the scroll and read through it carefully, quietly murmuring under his breath. ... hereby I swear by the gods and my mother's beard .... not to attack banana carrying ships ... bla bla bla .... ... not to interfere in any action or undertaking that involveth monkeys .... la de da .... pay upfront reparation sum of five hundred gold ... ... and to clean up my cabin every Friday... ... signed Captain Cookie The scene had all fallen silent by the time the Black Moustache came to the end of the scroll. Everyone was staring at him. The Black Moustache seemed to turn red under his moustache. "Well, then... you have already signed the contract, Sir... err... ....sorry for the inconvenience. We'll be going in a minute then... no hard feelings.... have a nice day." He called his men and turned to leave. Captain Cookie, gathering the remains of his crew, heaved a sigh of relief. He had survived unlike many of his fellow pirates. It had been a good idea to listen to that fortune teller he had met after the ball in Pontelli. When we saw our hero last time he was escaping from a pirate prison island on the back of a shark. Brickinson had the strange feeling that the shark was going deeper... "Hey, hey, don't do that, my friend - please don't dive!" .. the shark did not listen - it must have been a deaf shark ... Brickinson (humming to himself): "It's getting better all the time... couldn't get much worse..." Meanwhile back in Pontelli an important messenger arrives at the courthouse. "Your Honour - Let me introduce myself: I am Major Mystaek and I have come directly from Viceroy Renato Filamento. We have evidence that Colonel Brickinson has misappropriated Eslandolan military equipment and forces." Judge Enrico Fineman: "Now... what's that supposed to mean? Colonel Brickinson is a respected citizen of Pontelli!" Major Mistaek: "Just read this and you will find it necessary to launch court action!" Judge Enrico Fineman (reading, shocked): "Oh dear, oh dear. If that is true I will start the trial at once - even in the absence of the accused." Major Mistaek (smiling). [First Speaker] (to himself) : This banana wine is excellent! Where was I with that strange story? Ah, right. The evil pirate Gisberth had captured Colonel Brickinson - who had turned out the be "The Black Moustache". Brickinson was imprisoned by the pirates, awaiting his fate. .... and now I need a lot of pictures to tell the story of "The Great Escape" ... Brickinson had found some strange drawing on the prison wall. About some way to move the bed he was lying on. It seemed like complete nonsense to him. While Brickinson was about to fall asleep in his prison cell... ... Gisberth was on the watch... When Brickinson awoke from his refreshing slumber, he found the pirates unconscious or missing... The key to the cells was lying on the floor and all the doors were open. It was all very strange. Brickinson rushed outside looking for the red boat but it was gone. Instead a rather large shark was mooring by the pier. The shark looked at Brickinson and Brickinson stared back. "This is madness" he thought, approaching the shark. The shark displayed no signs of hostility and so the absurd idea that had come up in Brickinson's mind manifested itself and called for action. So he boarded the shark. "Oh my goodness, no-one is ever going to believe this! I will have to tell everybody that I escaped by making a raft out of sea turtles!" "What a great escape!" [First Speaker] How was your trip? [second Speaker] Successful. [First Speaker] Good. Have you been spotted? [second Speaker] No-one who has seen me is still alive. [First Speaker] Do we know where Brickinson is heading? [second Speaker] We can only guess. Here is the Simian-Plan storyline: 1 MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates 2 Has Brickinson gone mad? 3 The End of a Pirate 4 Visiting a Pirate Island 5 A Dream Within A Dream 6 Pirate Hunter King Archibald 7 Woe is me! 8 The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman 9 ... but I have signed the contract .... 10 Now, what have we got here ... 11 The Great Escape C&C welcome! After a good, healthy swim, William Oswald Brickinson reached the island: The mysterious island consisted of rocks – and strange spewing statues! While Brickinson stood still in amazement – looking at the spewing statue – he did not notice that he was not alone. Some islanders had been watching him for a while. But that was not the only shock for Brickinson: Right there behind the islanders rose the mighty statue of a monkey. The monkey's head was carrying a crown – and the left hand was holding a stone banana – or was it a long rock or a fossilized spear? Had the islanders built this massive statue? It was bigger than anything Brickinson had seen in all of Eslandola. It turned out that the islanders spoke the Eslandolean tongue reasonably well to allow for a conversation. Brickinson was introduced to the chief of the tribe, a guy called Toktawhoo. They sat down at the feet of the monkey statue and Brickinson told Toktawhoo what had recently happened to him. Toktawhoo was understanding and emphatic. A young island girl came and offered Brickinson a drink. He accepted gladly, being thirsty after his sea adventure. The drink was strong and strange. Somebody spoke and Brickinson fell into a dream. He felt like Brickinson in the Sky with Diamonds... .... and in his dream he started to see strange things... ... as if the true nature of the world was revealed to him .... ... and then: [First Speaker] I think he should be able to hear us now. [Second Speaker] Yes, hear - and understand. [First Speaker] Good. Listen, Colonel Brickinson. We made you perform many tasks for us, most of them quite dangerous. You have risked your life - and you have enabled us to achieve our goal. What was the total again? [Second Speaker] 23 pirate ships, 3 hidden islands and 2 pirate fortresses, [First Speaker] Not bad at all. Colonel, your service will not go without recognition. [First Speaker] So, please accept our gift as a compensation. Your good name in Pontelli has been restored. The dream seemed to come to an end. Strange colours and voices vanished. And when Brickinson awoke, he could not quite remember what he had dreamt, but inside he felt a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of happiness. He only had a vague sensation that something weird had happened. And he was holding two coloured glass pieces in his hands. Maybe something else had changed too. It felt like it was time to go home. Some more pictures of Monkey Island: I tried to build this as a reference to the classic islander sets. Albeit with some new elements: Here is the Simian-Plan storyline: 1 MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates 2 Has Brickinson gone mad? 3 The End of a Pirate 4 Visiting a Pirate Island 5 A Dream Within A Dream 6 Pirate Hunter King Archibald 7 Woe is me! 8 The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman 9 ... but I have signed the contract .... 10 Now, what have we got here ... 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun 15 The Rescue Mission Happy to see that Eurobricks is kind of running again. I had to pause for a week or so as I feared I would not get this picture-heavy chapter posted. Thanks for watching! C&C welcome!

The courtroom in Pontelli was filled to the last place. Judge Enrico Fineman opened the hearing: "Eslandola versus Colonel William Oswald Brickinson". "I understand that Brickinson will be defended by the Mayor of Pontelli, Alberto da Pontelli". Judge: "Ah, I see you have brought your pet." Alberto & George: (both nodd) Judge: "Attorney van Dyke, read the charges". van Dyke: (clears his throat) "Well, Colonel Brickinson has flown a monkey flag on one of our fortresses." "Then he has - in total - sunk 12 pirate ships, has taken or blown up 7 pirate islands and fortresses and freed 14 hostages that had been captured by pirates." (after a pause and applause from the audience) "Wow, that was pretty impressive. That Colonel has served Eslandola well." Major Mistaek jumped up in rage. "You must not forget that the man is hopping mad. He has flown a monkey flag in one of your fortresses." Alberto: "When excactly was that?" Mistaek: "On the first of April, 616" (Laughter in the audience) Alberto: "Well, than this is settled." Mistaek: (to the audience) "But you must plead guilty!" At this very moment George da Pontelli leapt up and teared at Mistaek's impressive beard .... ... which came off quite easily - revealing the well-known face of the evil pirate Gisberth! Brickinson's female crew member reacted immediately, drew her saber and rushed towards Gisberth. Everyone in the audience jumped to their feet. Gisberth turned to follow George... ... who found a safe place ... .... Gisberth was too slow in the end. "But they have captured my daughter" the Judge exclaimed. "We will surely find and rescue your daughter, your honour." Judge Enrico Fineman: "Case dismissed." Morale: If you follow the monkey you will lose your head. (but where is Brickinson?) [First Speaker]: You need to practice your pistol skills. [second Speaker]: Yes, I am sorry. But all is well that ends well. [First Speaker]: This has not ended yet. [First Speaker] (to himself) : Now I need a banana rum! After some discussion the Islanders offered Brickinson to bring him home to Pontelli. It was a sunny day. Not a cloud was in the sky. Not a negative word was heard. While the catamaran was flying over the waves, Brickinson thought about what he had been given on Monkey Island. "Coloured pieces of glass" he thought. "Great". "I didn't even bring that when I came to these waters all these years ago" "And where am I now?" "In the middle of the ocean on a strange boat hopefully heading for Pontelli". What was puzzling Brickinson the most was not the islanders but the first mate The monkey operated the sails and seemed to give orders to the islander at the rudder. This was weird. But from what Brickinson could tell without proper instruments the course was alright. He smiled and relaxed while his newly found friends brought him home. [First Speaker] Everything is going fine. People are distracted by stories of an Eslandolean treasure fleet. [Second Speaker] Yes, they are talking about it everywhere. [First Speaker] Excellent. Banana shake? [Second Speaker] Yes, please. And some music by Bananarama. 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun 15 The Rescue Mission 16 Monkey Island I came across bits and pieces of that catamaran and was able to reconstruct it. Then it was actually posted in the pirates forum! You can check flickr that my pictures were there first! When building the tiles I actually found an unexpected variation of blue. Something between the standard blue and dark blue. Or is it just ageing blue tiles? C&C welcome!

Shortly after arriving in Pontelli harbour, Brickinson's friends rushed to meet him. "What have you got there?" Alberto da Pontelli asked. "Some coloured glass I was given on some far away island", Brickinson replied. Toktawhoo raised his voice: "Bring this to a bank you must." Brickinson was tempted to disagree but he did not want to offend Toktawhoo who had brought him home to Pontelli. "Sure, sure", Brickinson said. "Now", Toktawhoo insisted. They saw him off at the Bank of Pontelli. "Well Toktawhoo, let me find out what this coloured glass is worth in silver." When Brickinson entered the hall no-one took notice of him. "Good man", Brickinson said handing the piece of glass to the man behind the counter. "Will you be so kind to give me its value in silver?" The man behind the counter stopped and stared. His eyes widened, his skin turned purple, red, white and then yellow again. "Certainly, Sir", the man stammered in panic, "certainly. We will do everything we can. The Bank of Pontelli is at your service." It dawned on Brickinson that the gem might be worth something. The clerk was shouting some orders to some men out of sight and started sweating. Two properly dressed employees appeared, carrying ingots of silver. They kept bringing new ingots for quite some time. Brickinson was watching with growing amazement. "I am rich!" While the silver was piling up in front of Brickinson, the man behind the counter was still sweating. The clerk cleared his throat. "Well, Sir, we are very sorry but we currently do not have the required silvery quantities." "Would you also accept some additional golden ingots? And we are awaiting a new delivery of silver next month. Would it be ok to you, Sir, to kindly wait so long until the payment is completed?" "I hate to wait", Brickinson replied (suppressing a grin). "But I am willing to make an exception." "How very kind of you", the clerk replied, almost fainting. Brickinson looked at the pile of silver. "I expect you to deliver this to my home." "Yes, Sir, it will happen immediately." "Great", Brickinson thought, "I am suddenly very rich. And I still have the second gem." Brickinson headed home. His wife opened the door, staring at him in surprise and happiness ... ... and then she saw the piles of silver and gold. Brickinson drew a deep breath. "Well, I'm back", he said. - - - The End - - - [Second Speaker] All is well that ends well. [First Speaker] Fortune favours the bold [Second Speaker] A single swallow doth not the summer make. [First Speaker] What? [Second Speaker] Sorry, I got carried away. [Voice] Will the two of you get back to work! [First and Second Speaker] Yes, Sir, immediately. 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun 15 The Rescue Mission 16 Monkey Island 17 I am sailing 18 Final Chapter Soooo. The story has come to a conclusion. It has been quite a journey from May to October. Thanks for watching! Now Brickinson has to take a break. But there may always be a "volume two". The "Bank of Pontelli" is of course just a MOD of an official model. Could I still license it? And now you can see all of those pictures (in larger versions) and more in the corresponding flickr album. C&C Welcome!

The story so far: Brickinson's trial had revealed that Major Mistaek was the evil pirate Gisberth in disguise. And the evil pirates had kidnapped the judge's daughter, Luisa. But where is Luisa now? And now: Luckily, a map was found on the body of Gisberth that disclosed the location of a secret pirate hideout not too far away from Pontelli - a place called Rockerly Cast. Everyone assumed that Luisa would be found there. Quickly a rescue party was assembled to free the hostage - led by the fearless Major Boothroyd - and accompanied by the Mayor of Pontelli & George and Brickinson's female first mate. "Look, Major", the first mate whispered. "A secret cave!" Slowly she sneaked into the cave. ("Constant vigilance" she thought to herself) Inside the cave, the pirates were immersed in their game of darts. When the rescue party stormed the cave the villains surrendered immediately. But it was then when the real trouble began: There were three hostages, not one. Da Pontelli moved forward, waving the portrait of Luisa. Two of the captives were found to be kidnapped princesses (unbelievable, considering the attire), but number three turned out to be Luisa. Hooray! Major Boothroyd and his men took the pirates to the gallows. And where is Brickinson? [second Speaker] Trouble at the mill, Sir. [First Speaker] That makes me think of something. Get the Oleon Inquisition started. 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun I tried this tile-approach for the waves and find it aesthetically pleasing, especially on the last picture. That means you will see it over and over again in the upcoming MOCs... C&C Welcome - have a nice weekend!

The shocking news about impending war with Oleon hit Pontelli. Within minutes the city was in uproar, the streets filled with citizens upset by the King's plans. All of Pontelli's citizens joined a pro-Oleon demonstration. They carried Oleon and Eslandolean flags and shouted: "We want peace!" The military did not interfere, nor did the Mayor of Pontelli - they had all joined the demonstration against King Fernando. Pontelli was no longer under the King's control. [First Speaker] That King is crazy. He is not following the plan. Stop the payments to King Fernando and call back our ambassador. [Second Speaker] It has been done. [First Speaker] .. and what about some rumours that King Fernando is broke and cannot pay his troops? [Second Speaker] I'll check what can be done. C&C welcome!

Puerto Desafio is seeing a new highlight in art & performance (& education): Alberto & George da Pontelli present: FUN WITH FLAGS The audience is delighted! Even the very rare ETWC flag was shown and explained! George insisted on presenting Captain Margon's pirate flag (reasons are not known) and he was nudging Alberto whenever he stuck on a certain flag topic for too long. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 Episode 7 Episode 8 - here you are. Lady de Summer was talking to Captain Blofeld in his former cabin: "My dear Captain, here is the information you need to set the course." Captain Blofeld: "This is not going to be an easy journey, Mylady." De Summer, smiling: "If it were I would not have called for your services." Captain Blofeld: "And we might be facing sea monsters." De Summer (keeps on smiling) Captain Blofeld: "Right" (blushing and off) .................................................................................................................................................... Meanwhile somewhere behind, still close to Quinnsville, a solitary man was rowing his boat: "I need to follow the Surprise" ,Captain Cookie kept thinking. "I need to follow the Surprise" "I need to follow the Surprise" "I need to ... .oh, here we are!" "Captain on board", somebody shouted. He had reached his ship, "Captain Cookie's Delight" - and now he was ready for the pursuit! ... To be continued...

Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 Episode 7 - here you are. And so all of the Corries had ended up in the water (well, some were still on there way, but they were working on it). Colonel Greybeard, however, was not ready to give up. "I'm not to be duped, troop! Look, I spy a sloop!" And so saying, he swam quickly to the sloop resting beside the quay nearby, and clambered on board, followed by his men. Sergeant Salt and a private leaped off the dock as the Colonel trimmed the sail and started moving after the escaping ship, but just then a horseman behind them bellowed out, "Jolly Molly, Colonel Greybeard, my old fellow, is that you? What is the rush, by good chap, if I may make so bold as to ask, mayhap?" Colonel Greybeard turned and saw his old mate in military school, Marshall Shallmall. "We're after that scoundrel of a highwayman, mate, and I have no doubt we'll catch him soon going at this rate! They've got a head start, men and mice, but 'tis no great shakes!" "Got room for one more old messmate?" inquired the Marshall, and without waiting for an answer, he and his horse leapt bodily over the quay's barrier and into the water, almost smashing poor Lieutenant Stick to powder. "Oh dear," exclaimed the latter - and even the bubbly Sergeant Salt looked a wee bit concerned as the Marshall and his horse clambered on board. From the shore they heard the sloop's owner - also the head of the Eslandolan Furniture and Goods Moving Co.'s branch in Cocovia - calling out, "Wait, wait! My boat!" - but by this time they were well on there way. And besides, Colonel Greybeard had all of Corrington's commandeer laws down pat... In the background a WTC soldier sneaked off with a crate of important goods. ... To be continued... Obviously a variation of my last build for this series, although it's got a good deal of new material in there as well. And before anybody says anything: yep, I do think that red roof does stand out a bit too much Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

In a Corrington tavern in Quinnsville some shady figures are playing a game of cards. The guy in the red clothes might not be unfamiliar to us. We've seen him before, often wearing a mask - not this time. He sure looks moody... .. when suddenly someone was mentioning that Lady de Summer was chartering a ship. He was brightening up. A ship? He thought. A ship is a chance. To get away from this miserable tavern, from the daily winning and losing at the card games. He would start a new life. He would be going out to sea again. "Hey, are you still playing?" the other guy asked, but Flynn Stewart's mind (he was formerly known as the "Red Fandango") was already somewhere else. Meanwhile at the harbour Lady de Winter, unharmed but not unarmed, was talking to a guy that had been recommended to her as a captain. He sure did not seem to look too friendly but he was said to have a fast ship. A ship. To get away from Quinnsville and search for a treasure. The lost treasure of the "8 Provinces". Little did they all know what was lying ahead of them. (larger pictures on flickr, as usual) ................................................................................................................................................................................ So, guys, the second part is finally starting. C&C welcome & have a nice weekend!

... to go boldly, where no monkey has gone before ... I have always loved those space baseplates. I wouldn't mind if they would be re-released - and I am happy that I got some that are acceptable through BrickLink. This is also on my flickr account.
