This year marks the 30th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, one of the greatest action movies of all time, and the Marvel comics of the same title that were released to tie in with the movie release. To celebrate this occasion, I have created a bust of one of the iconic T-800 Endoskeletons as seen in the opening scene for this year's Nerdvember challenge. Built in the same style as official LEGO event exclusive character busts and equipped with two light bricks to light up the eyes with the press of a button on each side of the skull, this detailed display piece is designed to look authentic and make every LEGO and Terminator fan go: "I want that!" I hope you like it. I'm off now to build more MOCs. I'll be back.

It all started with the Obelix bust I created 2 years ago. I knew I would eventually build his partner Asterix, since they share many critical characteristics as the helmet, the nose, ears and cheeks. Then I decided to suggest them both as pair on Lego Ideas because I feel they might generate a lot of interest from big Asterix & Obelix fans like me! Here's my newest Discworld build, bust of current Archchancellor of Unseen Univeristy, Mustrum Ridcully. I've built the character in normal scale couple of times, and this bust project is rather old too - it began in autumn 2016 and was on top of a self for over two years... But when I moved recently, I decided to finally finish it, as it looked quite promising. Here's the results. I'm particularly pleased with the facial features and the expression. The beard is bit plain, but it was a conscious choice to reduce the visual noice on the model - it's a large creation, after all. As on the reference books, the hat as couple of drawers to hold fishing hooks and stuff, and there are few hand-tied lure flies stuck to it. More photos and stuff on Cyclopic Bricks.

I’ve been making an effort to look at more of the different sites FOLs can post their MOCs on lately. And one that caught my eye on ReBrick was a medium-sized bust of Darth Maul with his probe droids. And I thought, “Wow, that’s really nice shaping.” So I clicked on the link back to the builder’s photostream and saw… 4-LOM! Bossk! Dengar! Zuckuss! IG-88! White Boba Fett! Some Clone Wars bounty hunters I don’t care about! ( ) All beautifully sculpted and detailed. Excellent work using a variety of shapes to sculpt instantly-recognizable characters at this scale. Look at the bandages on Dengar. Look at the expression of Bossk. But he’s also made two other characters in addition to the nine bounty hunters and the pilot Luke Skywalker at the beginning of this post, and one of those really caught my eye. The head, especially the mouth, on this Greedo: Incredible. The models are also on CUUSOO.

a bust of the nameless hero from PHD Comics. PHD, stands for "Piled Higher and Deeper", is a comic strip that depicts the ongoing chronicle of life (or the lack thereof) in grad school. As a PhD student myself not long ago, this strip really resonated with me through out the torturous years in grad school. Meet Delwyn. He's my entry in BZPower's System-Based Creations Contest #2: Build Free or Die Hard! Delwyn's a nice fellow, once you get to know him. Sometimes he gets a bit upset or angry, but he always means well. All images link to Flickr! A bit of backstory to this MOC: I've been trying to build a nice, streamlined human face on LDD for quite some time (I came up with the concept for the mouth, nose, and chin well over a year ago, though I changed the nose design slightly after the debut of the 1x2 bow element this year). I recently made some meaningful progress with this on LDD, which I posted to Flickr. Shortly thereafter I learned that BZPower was having a System-Based Creations contest, so I decided this fellow would become my entry. I ordered the parts I needed to build the head from Bricklink, so that I could experiment a bit more with the build in real life. After I experimented with coloring the hairline black, he started to resemble a ventriloquist's dummy, so that look inspired my design for the chest and shoulders. I was going to call him "Il Fantoccio" ("the puppet"), but decided that was not the best name since it was just a bust and not a complete or functional puppet. I ended up settling on a much sillier name that suited his comical appearance. Thanks for reading! I look forward to hearing people's thoughts on this MOC!

I build so many dragons-- so I decided it might be fun to try building one at a different scale! Meet Skrulk, an imposing fire dragon. (All pictures link to their larger versions) From the start, I decided that I'd only be able to make a bust of a dragon. This was because of two factors: one, my limited parts, and two, stability/structual integrity concerns... It would have been a very different engineering challenge to build a full-size dragon at this scale. It's something I might do in future, but it'll certainly take more planning! Having a poseable dragon was important to me, because it's a more fun display piece. I consistently played with balancing flexibility in Skrulk's neck with bulk and covering over vertebral joints. I'm happy with how this bust came out; I think it looks solid from all angles. A simple grey base seemed the best choice to display this bust without upstaging the dragon head, but I also considered a wooden shield and even a mound of treasure as other base options.
