  1. LEGO Helm's Deep Project. Work in progress... I'm currently 10,000+ pieces in, with another 5,000-10,000 to go. I have approximately 500 more figures (400 Uruk-Hai and 100 Rohan) to add to the diorama upon its completion. I'm quickly realizing that I'll need to purchase another table if I plan to display this all in one piece ;) I wanted to update people on my progress thus far, I hope that you enjoy it! Credit to Brickstruct for instructions. More pictures available on my flickr: If you would like to receive updates on this project and others, please follow!
  2. Being a bit tired of big MOCs, I decided to create a series of 16x16 models based on The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit. I've actually created them over the course of 2 years, but never got around to take pictures and post them, until now. Some of them are based on existing sets and even reusing whole parts of them, other are more original. The purpose was to display the minifigs and the best parts of the official sets. Rules: - Strictly 16x16, some overhang allowed. - No visible studs, if possible. - Very limited color palette. Rivendell set was the first Lego I bought in over 15 years. I was amazed at how beautiful it looked, compared to the early 90's sets. Here's my tribute to it, and a way to display the great Elrond and Arwen minifigs. White Council Thorin is brought before Thranduil, one of the best scenes in The Hobbit. Love the way Lee Pace is lounging on his throne, his portrayal of Thranduil was absolutely perfect. There's a lightbrick underneath, with a mirror directing the light into the Palantir. Unfortunately, by the time I got to take some pictures, the battery has died. I dismantled my Moria set quite shortly after building it, since I needed parts for a Helm's Deep MOC. Here's my tribute to it, and a way to display the cave troll, Boromir and Gimli.
  3. 008 by Eurolock, on Flickr 009 by Eurolock, on Flickr I posted a few pics of this before the great crash of 2012. Thought I would post it again in a thread of its own to get some feedback (this is my first attempt at castle). What I was trying to do was expand the official set so that it was a much more complete representation of Helms deep (comparable to the Weta polystone environment). The aim was to keep the general scale (as defined by the front gate) and design aesthetic. I also wanted all the major areas seen in the movie to be represented (interior of the keep, back stairs, glittering caves etc) This rear shot shows the interior of the keep and the caves beneath 001 by Eurolock, on Flickr The caves are connected by a passageway to the front area of the fortress as depicted in the movie 003 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the back stairs. The stairs actually work as a sort of 'ball-track' play feature as a boulder can be rolled through the back gate and will follow the winding path of the stairs knocking down any uruk hai in its path. This is a nod to an event in the book where a great boulder is cast down upon the uruk-hai as they attempt to take the rear gate. 002 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the walkway that connects the inner and outer walls. I changed the original model here so that the walkway enters the inner door through a doorway as shown during Aragorn's retreat to the keep. You can also make out the entrance to the passageway through to the caves. 005 by Eurolock, on Flickr Aerial shot. I had a lot of trouble with the spiral ramp that leads up from the front gate to the area in front of the keep. 011 by Eurolock, on Flickr Gamling in the caves. The whole set-up is modular and a section of the caves can be removed for separate play. The lack of roof was necessary for access. 016 by Eurolock, on Flickr 015 by Eurolock, on Flickr The battle in full swing....If only I had as many Uruks as Deathleech... Helm's deep by Eurolock, on Flickr Errm...don't know how I managed to post the same new thread twice. Sorry.
  4. Recently I order about 16 extra Uruk-hai off of BrickLink. After receiving my order I noticed all the armored chest plates all had a funky mark in them. I am not entirely sure what it is.. a defect in the mold, a stress mark, or something else? At first I was a little concerned I might of gotten a bad lot off BrickLink so I decided to turn to Lego's store and order replacement chest pieces. Well, after getting my order from them today I noticed they have the SAME mark on every one of the "replacement" chest pieces! I would think this is how they are meant to be made if not for the fact NONE of my older Uruk-hai chest pieces (around ~80) don't have the marking at all. I s this a newer mold making this mark? Is it because it's being shipped in the cold? Does anyone have any idea what's causing it? I find it odd it's only in the one spot on every chest piece and literally every one has the mark where as none of my older Uruk-hai did. Below are two pictures for comparison (sorry for the poor quality, was taken with my phone), the first are the good chest plates with no mark, the second chest is one of the werid distress mark ones.
  5. After reaching Round 4 of mocpages MELO (may you remember my "last march of treebeard") my new category was "Mount Doom". You probably saw the fantastic entry of my opponent matthew oh. The judges already made their decision and gave me the privilege of marching in round 5, the semi finals. It was a very tough round against matthew and I want to pay tribute to his great entries. But now enjoy the pics: Thank you for looking!
  6. Hi I made two sets of council of Elrond into one.. Just to make it more like the movie and to make it big. Made more chairs, add tree's and made the hall longer. And with my extra Arwen, I remove the dress and putt on the legs from the soldiers/scouts from Lone Ranger theme. And put her next to my Attack on weathertop set to get wounded Frodo away.. what do you think... grtz raymond
  7. I've wanted Lego to make LOTR for years, soley for Helms Deep. Finally, it happened. As much as I do like the official model, it just fails to capture the epic scope of the battle as portrayed in the Two Towers. So after having the official model sit on my shelf, mocking me for days, I decided to improve it drastically. My first attempt was satisfying, however I just did not have the amount of pieces to truly do what I wanted with it. After a few (a few meaning a TON of!) Bricklink orders, I was able to begin my endeavor. It is almost complete at the moment with the exception of the mountains, the rear entrance to the caves, the causeway and some additional details i'd like to add/change. I also created an Elven army since Lego did not provide any of Haldirs' troops. I used Legolas from Escape from Mirkwood Spiders as the base for my swordsman and Haldir as the base for my archers. The elven swords and helms are from Brickforge. Check out my flickr photostream to see the evolution of this MOC thus far :) http://www.flickr.co...s/93638645@N05/
  8. Had a spare Haldir that I wanted to use as an Elven archer. Helmet was made by cutting the horns of a Loki helmet and re-attaching the tip of one horn to the front of the helmet. I think it looks pretty good. Need to tidy it up a bit though. Ideally the hair should hang out the back but there is no way i'm chopping up an elven hairpiece. image by Eurolock, on Flickr image by Eurolock, on Flickr
  9. After about 1 week in the making my second LOTR dio is finally done! As the title says it´s the attack on weathertop. I got the set around one/two weeks ago and i thought it could usesome improvements not, to be honest this didn´t turn out as good as I had hoped for, but it has it´s points. Hope you all will like it either way!
  10. Hello all! The lack of Ent moc's recently has been disturbing... so here's my part in filling the void! Meet Beatenbark, he is partially inspired by the models in the Lego LOTR game. He's fully articulated, neck, arms, elbows, hands, waist, legs and knees. Let me know what you think, and please, I would love to see more people build some Ents! Thanks much- Mr.Macgyver
  11. Hello everybody, I present you my last creation where I tried to recreate some fantastic Middle Earth places: Rivendell and Erebor and join them together in just one single mountain (.. sorry I mean MOC) . The MOC integrates three original Lord of the rings/Hobbit sets: 79006 (the Council of Elrond), 79018 (The lonely mountain) and 79015 (The witch king battle). Let's start with the elves, I tried to reconstruct the house of Elrond with the cascade and throne of the king of the elves. Interiors are not so detailed, that's the throne room: From the first picture, you may have notice the entrance to Erebor, the other side of the MOC, in fact, is the realm of the dwarves: well, I hope you liked and I will be happy to hear some comments to improve/extend it :sweet: :sweet:
