    Building a CITY

thanks for the positive replies. @ Lightningtiger: the most disturbing thing about the butcher isn't the people who work there. It's the kind of meat they sell;) (look in the trash can) No wonder they sell the city's best hamburgers. The name "green butchers" is from the Danish movie by the same name. (The Green Butchers) I have built a penthouse on top of the butcher's store. It still needs work on the balcony and the interior.

    Building a CITY

I need your oppinion people. I came up with a new layout. The advantage of this new layout is that the buildings at the side of the road will be easily interchangeable as there will not be any buildings standing on the road plates. There are 2 things i don't like about it. It's green and it's a less dynamic layout. What do you guys think?

    Building a CITY

Update Spent some of my sunday building the marina and some other things. I know it isn't the right sign for the pizzeria, but I was unable to locate the real one today (don't know were I left it yesterday). Enjoy! Layout. I know it looks reallt messy between the buildings. But so does every working site;) Marina with the back of my hotel Main street wip

    Building a CITY

I'm trying to keep the classic feel while still making it big and impressive. I don't own a Shell service station unfortunately, though I do own the 6397 Octan station. The Sail 'n Fly marina has been put together. Pics will follow soon.

    Building a CITY

Layout LAST UPDATE Febr 15th, BANK, page 5 . . . . . . . People might have followed my topic Small town. That town has been removed and is being replaced by a new little city. Yesterday I went to pick up all of my old Lego from my parents' place and now I'm building a new city on my table. Here's the layout I came up with. Most of the buildings from my other topic will be installed in this city, but there is plenty of room for other buildings. Anyone got any sugestions? Next on my list are: -Sail 'n fly marina -Clothing store -Police Station

    Small town

Yes, I'm using my couch for clothes storage. I bought some used windows and doors and used some of my last remaining bricks to build a little police station. It's a temporary station as I will replace it with another one when I get my old bricks from my parents' place.

    Small town

At this time I don't have any road plates. So the citizens of my town are free to drive wherever they want. I don't want to spend alot of money on new road plates, so I while bring some of my old ones back next time I visit my parents. Maybe I will bring some of my old classic sets too.

    Small town

Thanks all, in my childhood we had this pizza bar "Mamma's pizzeria" in the town. I like to think that this is it. I still got about 5 of the old big lego persons. I'm trying to find more uses for them. Sorry Romdam, I'm not sure what you mean there..

    Small town

I have a few updates: -I bought the set City Corner to add some newer buildings to the mix. Since the set came out I always wanted it. I think the city corner matches well with the classic town sets. -I thought the fire station should look more impressive as it was totally overshadowed by the houses standing next to it, so I took the back office/bedroom and put it on top of the front office. That way I made the building taller and i freed up a much needed baseplate for new creations. -Also I decided that the citizens should have some kind of central piece in the Town to gather around. So I made a simple fountain out of some transparent bricks I saw no other use for. I'm pretty happy with the result I played around a little with some of my big lego minifigs and came up with this idea. What do you all think?

    Small town

Thanks all. I was quite happy with this purchase too. @laka: You spotted the drinking officer. Congrats! I will see that he is sober on the next pictures;) The newer 6 wide car is got for my birthday from a friend of mine. That's what made me want to build a little town again as it's been 15 years since I last played with Lego. @Macoco: I'm trying to blend in some newer models and bricks. Though trying to keep the feeling of a classic Lego town. Sadly the gas station had to make room for some new houses. When my camera is recharged I will post pics.

Layout LAST UPDATE 22-6-2011/6-22-2011 Last week I bought some cheap used lego on the dutch "ebay". It included the instructions to some old Town sets. So i decided to build a little town. After completing the original sets, I had alot of spare bricks to build a little Shell gas station and a taxi stop. Here are the pics. Yesterday I bought this set to add some nice colourful houses. Updates will follow when complete.
  20. Thanks for the response. I have resized the pics. Here are another few creations. I also started building a zoo, though I might break it (and the school) down to build an IKEA store as i imagine the citizens of my Lego town are more in need of furniture than monkeys and sharks. Some nice holiday appartments. I cheated a little and added housenumbers next to the doors A 4 story building (maybe a hotel) The buildings next to each other A small square building (I imagine it being a Chinese restaurant, though the colours are a bit off)
  21. Some time ago I went to my local toy shop and they were having a closing sale of some of their bricks. I haggled a little with the shop owner and got him to sell me 3 liter bags of bricks for 5 euro's a piece. So i got 10 bags and went home. Here are the pieces I got. I forgot to include the red corner roof corner pieces in the picture. And here's my first creation. A school. I used the doors as windows as well, sticking them behind the openings in the wall Front view Side view Top view. haven't got a picture of the back. It's similar to the front except for the middle part where the entrance is. So what do you think? More creations are coming up.
