First go building one (sans LDD). Hope you enjoy :)
-
Yes! I just saw these on brickshelf and I'm glad to see this post here so I can formally say that these MODs are completely awesome :). I have both 4-stud wide sets you MOD'd and I think you did them justice and then some - great job!

I had the fleeting idea of buying the pieces for those sets via PAB or Bricklink. I didn't get very far before I realized that may be just as much $$ as buying off BL or Ebay. Thoughts? I really want these two sets, but $400+ is just too much for me. I could buy 2x Pet Shops for that amount.

This is ridiculously awesome - I absolutely love it.

These are very well done - congrats on a great build. I love how they are staggered, too. Not sure why, but I think it adds a really nice detail :)

Brilliant job. This would make an awesome gift for a friend of mine (He owned an S2000) - I may give this build a shot in LDD if you dont' mind :) *EDIT - the Blue is awesome. Is it a dark/navy blue?*

Well, I was going to rebuild 4993 "Cool Convertible" for fun, but then I got building..this, instead :). I really need to get some nice clear bricks so I can stand stuff up, and I may create a more durable softbox for better photos. Till then, I hope you enjoy the photos :) Front 3/4 shot Back 3/4 shot Side Top More in flickr set, too

Thanks for the info, Scorpio!. Glad it was not me who lost the bag (happened with Fire Brigade, but found it eventually). I was so close to breaking the box down and putting out with my recycling bin - thought better of it, though :). Thanks again!

Before you ask, I searched through the plastic bags multiple times, checked the box a few hundred times, retraced my steps a ton and even scanned the bricks to see if I could "find them" that way. Truth is, I think I am missing an entire bag of bricks to my Grand Emporium :(. I am on the Third Floor / Roof and I seem to be missing all the smaller window panes, a piece of the chandelier and some of the pieces that make up the little house and scooter. I am assuming this was a "bag in a bag" type deal as it was likely a bag of smaller parts. I'm going to contact TLG, but I wondered if any Grand Emporium builders had this problem or remember where, in the myriad of bags, they found may have found the pieces above that I mentioned. Thanks everyone! Seems this guy is was missing the same pieces: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1Z1GH26D4ZIGX/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1Z1GH26D4ZIGX. Really weird - bit disappointing, too. Given the above, I'm just going to request TLG send me the pieces - they make it pretty straight-forward. Thanks for reading my panic-laden post ;)

This is fantastic - love everything about it :) *takes notes on truck and tractor assembly* ;)

What is your favorite Service Station in Lego City
Danpb replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
As a kid, 6394 was just awesome. I used the little elevator parts on so many MOCs as a kid :D. Great thread, brings back some great memories -
If it were me, I'd go Hillside as it looks like a good parts set

I assume we just add replies to this whenever we need set advice. If that is the case.. I'm at a bit of a crossroads. The latest Millenium Falcon was released and, while I'm not a huge LEGO SW fan (favorite theme is Town/City), I do want this set. I also want Grand Emporium as it'll add to my modular collection. That said, I know the Grand Emporium was released in early 2010 so it has some time left. I worry the Falcon won't be around for long. Getting one or the other, means waiting about 3-4 months for the next. Am I safe to wait for GE if I get the Falcon? Thanks everyone :)

What I'd do if I were you: buy the older sets first. New 2011 set will be around awhile, as will FB and GE - Green Grocer *may* be out, but I'd look for that first if you want to buy more than one (you will, trust me - they are so fun to build..and I'm in my 30s :)) I hope this helps/makes sense. I knew I wanted a modular building and I went with GG first as it was the oldest..then Fire Brigade (what a set, what a set!). GE is next and I *may* see how feasible it is to buy the pieces for Cafe Corner..doubt it'll be worth it. Best of luck, happy buying/building :D

Awesome! Love the classic space one and the classic Blacktron :) (Hoping I'm right on those two..ha) Great job!

Thanks so much everyone - really appreciate the feedback! @brickmack - I am totally with you. I'd love to create a larger ship. I'll have to do more sorting first though :P. I definitely want to add more color, maybe create a small fleet :D
-
Thanks for the feedback and sorting sympathy everyone :). @Endigo - I have, unfortunately, lots more sorting to do. My childhood collection is a bit ridiculous in scale. Lots more to do, but it was good to take a break and MOC it up :D

I'm in the process of sorting my 15+ year-old collection of Legos. Last week I attempted to tackle a gallon bag full of black bricks (I sorted by color first..I know, I know..). Before I knew it, I was looking at bricks, piecing them together and casually looking for random pieces. A few minutes later, I was frantically looking for THE piece, then another THE piece..and another.. By the end, I came up with what you see below. I had such a great time building this little ship as it wasn't from instructions, it wasn't in LDD - it was me sitting down with a huge pile of bricks and coming up with something - something I haven't done in over 15 years***. Enjoy, and thanks for reading it - happy building :) (***I actually forgot that a few years ago some co-workers and I bought 4 mini creator sets and built MOCs for our own little MOC-off at work - awesome) 2 more, not so great pictures:

Wow, this is an awesome job, prateek! The home office is brilliant - along with the layout of the first floor. It is quite funny how similar our LDD homes are :). The height of your ceiling was a good call. Mine is a bit too high, making stairs a bit tricky. I want to add a third floor, but I also want to use the second floor for a living area. The problem is, No third floor means no bedroom - bit of an odd house, no? :) It's a bit funny how we both put our kitchens under the stairs :). Awesome job! Let's see if our next MOCs end up the same :P
-
Thanks everyone - I'd love to get this in brick form eventually..the colors would change drastically though as I really only have old-school colors :) ..could use some Green Grocer pieces though.. hmmm :)

This is fantastic - A Lego Veyron (assuming it's a veyron) with The Stig driving? Awesome.
