Please explain!?
-
I really can not see Lord of the Rings lasting after the two Hobbit films have been released. I'm sure it'll go the same way.
-
The pattern seems to be introduce a line just before a movie comes out, have a wave of sets just in time for the movie, forget about the line. It happened with Toy Story, Indiana Jones, PotC (correct me if I'm wrong, but that line is looking dead too, right?) and Cars. I love Harry Potter as much as the next guy, but I think we're just going to have to face it that it's over for the LEGO sets. Sure, I'd love one last big set, after all the last line of 3 was hardly anything special. We live in hope.

I loved the main part of the castle, but when you add in the extra sets (like the forbidden corridor) it really looks out of place. And I know how to deep link thanks, it's just last time I was told to link directly, due to the high quality of some of the images. I'll certainly try and get some more pictures!

Like I say, most of those photos are all from 2007. I'm seriously thinking of rebuilding all my sets over the Christmas holidays, I'll be sure to take some them! Also, I can take some of the new sets, if you want?

I've got pretty much every Harry Potter set released to date (bar that 3rd year Hogwarts Express) and put them all together once. It looked great, but when you add the new line in, it looks really odd because of the different sizes of Hogwarts Castle. They don't fit well together at all. I decided to pack away the older sets, and just have the newer sets on display in my bedroom . I never bothered taking any pictures of the sets all together, but I have a few (from AGES ago) that might interest you. I'll just put links to them from my blog, I'm not sure how to go about embedding them. Heres all the sets from the first movie together. Chamber of secrets sets. Here is all 3 of the first castles together. This is probably the best photo I have of the main pre-2010 sets all together. Goblet of Fire sets, sorry about the quality of this one. The 2010 Castle with Battle for Hogwarts set.I used this photo in my review for Eurobricks a while back. A photo from 2007, if I remember correctly, with my old layout of all the sets. It's difficult to see, but you get the idea. Finally, here is my current layout atop my wardrobe (keeps it out of the way). I have the castle and stuff on there, Knight Bus, Hogwarts Express & the Burrow in the wardrobe itself, then Diagon Alley on my bedside cab. Again, sorry about the quality on that one, for an 8MP camera, the iPhone 4S' camera isn't that special. Hope this gives you an idea of how they look together.

From what I've seen of the game, it's looking great. Seeing the Sirus and Tonks figures; It really makes me wish there was one more big Potter set to draw the series to a close. I'm not getting my hopes up though. I've ordered the game from GAME in the UK, just for the free LEGO Hogwarts Express, the only problem is getting chance to play it. What with Zelda and Mario 3DS both out on the same day. Talk about first world problems, right?

Correct! We didn't hear anything official, but I know a few people in this thread had mentioned that were was going to be a upcoming super-set a month or so before we found anything else out.

it's official, it's the box art! http://www.mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=/legohp/legohp57/legoyr57xbox.jpg

Going on the fact that I own pretty much every LEGO Harry Potter set, I'd say yes!
-
I thought about saying The Hogs Head instead of Honeydukes, but seen as there is already one pub in the set (The Three Broomsticks) it seems more likely that LEGO would vary it and have another shop, rather than two pubs. You're certainly right about the Cho and Rita figures, I'd just love figures of those two, mainly a Cho figure, and if LEGO would even make a figure of her, I'm sure they'd put her in casual clothes rather than making a Ravenclaw uniform, which makes me think Cho in Hogsmeade. Come on LEGO, give us the send off we deserve!

Personally, I think it's the end of the road for the LEGO Harry Potter line. It's a real pity, the last 3 sets really weren't anything special, and it'd be great for the line to end with one last big set. A Diagon Alley-style Hogsmeade would be wonderful. 3 buildings, the Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes and the Shrieking Shack! Figures including; The trio, (Obvious reasons, you can't have a big Potter set without them) Sirius Black, Wormtail, Lupin (All 3 for the Shrieking Shack) Slughorn (From Half Blood Prince part in the Three Broomsticks) Madam Rosmerta (Does it need saying?) Fudge (Bit of a long shot, he was in Hogsmeade in the PoA) Crabbe (Seen as we have a Goyle figure and Crabbe was outside the striking shack once) a Cho (From Harry's date with her in the 5th book, again, a bit of a long shot, seen as it wasn't in the film) Rita Skeeter (Long shot again, OotP, Harry's interview. It'd be awesome to have a Rita figure though). Price tag, around the same as Diagon Alley. I'd be a great way to round off one of my favourite LEGO lines.

Stunning review, it really makes we want to dig out this set from my LEGO Harry Potter cupboard. Although looking back, it looks a little basic and plain, at the time (I was only 8) I was enchanted by it. Top work.

Those screenshots of Years 5-7 are great and all, but, like was said above, we need a trailer! We've gotta get one soon. Hopefully they'll be like the ones released for the first game (a trailer for each year featuring best bits). Also, has anyone preordered the game from GAME? If you do, you get a free Hogwarts Express mini model, like the one with Diagon Alley!

I got my copy yesterday, and it's pretty easy to take Harry out.
-
Thanks for all the positive reviews on the review guys! I'm most grateful! I agree. I've set both Castle's out on my desk, and it just looks so awesome! A must buy for Potter fans! Yes! I love that game.
-
Nope, sadly not. I think I did, like this? http://chrisbradleysblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/p1070722.jpg?w=468
-
Yeah, I thought that, and I couldn't spot anything major.
-
Nope, sorry.

Consider it done! HQ HQ Any other picture requests; I'll be happy to help!
-
Oh, yeah. I noticed that. No extra connect piece included, so you'll have to MOD one yourself.
-
Oh right, I think I included what you mean at the bottom of the review :).

His hair is a little bit darker than Ron's hair. It's just the flash! Sorry! And by other Hogwarts do you mean the 2001/2003/2007 versions? Because I would, but they are packed away in the loft and would be too much of a hassle to get out and build again. Sorry!
-
Yup, sure thing! I can't believe I missed that out . Sprout HQ HQ Lupin HQ HQ Goyle HQ Neville HQ HQ

By pure luck, I manged to get my hands on the latest Harry Potter LEGO set, Hogwarts 4867 from Waitrose in Hull (Hull does have good things). We've had a review of the forest set, and of the Knight Bus, but it's time for a review of the biggest set from this line! And for my 1 hour spent building it, it didn't feel that big at all! To save time and rather than lag your internet with huge images, I'll hotlink them from my personal blog - http://chris-bradley.org. All images can be found in high quaility at the links under the pictures. You'll see what I mean. Set Number: 4867 Name: Hogwarts Theme: Harry Potter Release Date: June 2011 Pieces: 466 Minifigs: 7! Price: £49.99 GBP S@H description: Hgwarts™ castle is a place of magic and mystery. Explore the castle to discover your favorite moments from the Harry Potter films including the Room of Requirement, Professor Lupin’s office, the Astronomy Tower, the Divination Room and the Mirror of Erised. The box is a pretty one! lovely artwork on the front showing the Battle at Hogwarts! Very exciting stuff. HQ The back shows whats inside the buildings. Again, exciting stuff! And here is what you get in the box. Stickers, 3 bags and the instruction booklet (that smells lush, by the way). HQ The minifigs! They are lovely, and a near great selection. Another Harry, wonderful, and another Mr. Malfoy. We do get a Neville (With a double sided head), Sprout, Lupin and Goyle. I'd rather of had a Tonks figure instead of Mr Malfoy, but hey, you win some, you lose some. Also, I'm not sure why Harry is wearing his uniform. Seems odd, but I'm sure it will make sense when we all see the final movie. HQ Sprout HQ HQ Lupin HQ HQ Goyle HQ Neville HQ HQ The instruction booklet is like any of the other booklets. A large picture of the trio looking all emo serious in the top right. Don't mess wid us. HQ The build is in 3 parts. The bridge, then the two towers. The bridge is pretty cool. HQ A neat thing is that it explodes. Poor Nev is just chilling on the bridge... HQ ...Then bam! Spell! Everything blows up, and he still hasn't changed his expression. That's how hardcore he is. HQ The first tower adds onto the right side of the bridge. HQ Here is a look inside. Nothing really to see, apart from the globe and the bunk-beds. Bunkbeds are cool (That's for you, Doctor Who fans!) HQ HQ And the second tower connects onto the right. Simple as that. HQ The set looks quite nice all together, wouldn't you say? It looks a tad plain without the figures though. I'll fix that after I've had a look at the features of the right side. First up, the mirror! It's about as good as my skills at sticking stickers onto LEGO. (Not that great). If you remember the mirror from the 2001 set, this doesn't look as great. Just my view though. HQ We get a classroom, which I guess is meant to be Lupins. It's rather empty, but hey, at least he has a chair. HQ And the bottom room is just empty. I'm not sure what the point of it is. HQ Finally, the complete set! From behind, and then from the front! HQ HQ And here are the pieces left over. Nothing too exciting. I really like this set, it's great and all, but it seems a little bit expensive for a £50 set. One thing I will say, if you have the other Hogwarts, get this set, but if not, maybe get the other Hogwarts Castle first, then this one. Now, I know a lot of people will be wondering how it all fits together, and I thought it just wouldn't look right, but I have been proved wrong. See for yourself below. HQ HQ Personally, I think it looks great. It fits together really nicely, and just makes the Castle look so much more epic! (I love that word, epic). I can't wait to get this set into my collection, and when I get the Knight Bus and the Forest set, I'll be sure to take pictures! Time for the final scores! Design: 7/10 - It's okay. It looks a little odd by itself, but I'll go with it. Build: 7/10 - I enjoyed it, but it was a bit short, and there was nothing great about it. The last set I built was Diagon Alley. If you're looking for an awesome build get that, not this. Minifigs: 7/10 - Some great new figures like Neville and Sprout, but did we really need another Mr Malfoy? The answer is no. Playability: 6/10 - I'll give it 6, just because of the bridge. That's really all there is too it, and it's not that exciting. It can be fun to arrange the Castle layout though. Parts: 9/10 - Some cool parts here. The globe I love, and you get more tan bricks, which is always good. Price: 6/10 - A little too high for my liking. I'd say £40 is more reasonable. Overall: 7/10 - A good set, but nothing too ground breaking. Or should that be bridge breaking? I hope you've enjoyed this review. Sorry the pictures aren't all that great. My camera is about as lame as my photograph skills. This is only my 2nd review! Go easy on me! Lame bonus picture. RUN NEVILLE RUN!
