For some reason I can't see the pics (must be my work computer blocking the images) but any fan of Red Dwarf gets my vote! Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast! ~Chris.

MOC(s): Chronicles of Carrith Knorr
Chris Phipson replied to Chris Phipson's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Don't sweat it dude, after reading through it I got what you were saying. And yes... that's funny! (for those that didn't see the original post on mocpages, the tower was blown over by wind while taking pics outside. Legocrazy's comment was reflecting that.) Thanks ISC for coming to my defense also. Even though it was a misread originally, it's awesome to know that people like you are here to keep the peace. Thanks man! I owe you a superdawg! ~Chris. -
Hello again EB! Here’s some of my recent foray into the Castle theme. These are just single pics of four different posts in my “Chronicles of Carrith Knorr” series. There’s some fun little jokes and stories that go with each of them so I invite you to stop in and see the whole story. If you decide to check them out on MOCpages for the stories, read them in the order posted below. Chateau, tower, Gate and then Wizard’s aid last. Chateau of Carrith Knorr: My FIRST real castle moc EVER! Tower of Harold: The lighting really made the lava on this one POP! The Gate of Carrith Knorr: Oooo, curved walls are always fun! A Wizard’s Aid: Ok, who DIDN'T want a treehouse like this when they were a kid? Here’s a link to the folder where each moc is posted over on MOCpages! http://mocpages.com/folder.php/103692 Till next time true believers! ~Chris.

Can't tell ya how many times I've been waiting in line and daydreamed that I had a lightsaber to do just that. Nice one! Gave me a good laugh! ~ Chris.

They're a combo actually. I looked at the pics of the sets then made my own adjustments from there. The main difference is the speeder color. Never understood why Lego made the sets white when the ones in the movie are grey? I mean, I get it to make it more "snowy" but by that logic... shouldn't the Star Destroyer be white? hahaha Thanks for all the comments everyone! Glad you liked it! ~Chris.

My initial guess would be the ARC-170 like everyone else however... Something tells me you may have a suprise in store for us. Lookin forward to it! ~Chris.

I built this for the "Beat the Judges" game over on MOCpages. "Beat the Judges" is a side game from the 2010 MocOlympics where eliminated players can continue to have fun by challenging the judges that voted them out. The category I chose was "Star Wars Diorama" and the eliminated players can challenge me with their own entry (I'm one of the judges). This is just a few pics. Come check out a lot more over on MOCpages! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/226715 Beat the Judges group: http://mocpages.com/group.php/13565 Main 2010 MocOlympics group: http://mocpages.com/group.php/12864 As always, thanks for looking! Till next time true believers! ~Chris.

Welcome Eurobricks, to the "Chateau Of Carrith Knorr." Take a look around and enjoy your stay. For more pics and full descriptions, check it out on MOCpages! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/216689 Thanks for looking! ~Chris.

Hey, THERE I am! On the left! SWEET! (Thanks for putting me in there Stash!) ~ Chris.

This was my third Brickworld (second registered). Here's a link to my after action report if anyone is interested: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/209845 I also want to take a second to say how awesome it was to meet so many new friends including Josh (I Scream Clone) was not only a lot cooler in person, but also a lot taller! And you're welcome for the Dawg man. Can't let you come to Chicago without sampling some of our fine cuisine! hahaha To all my friends, it was really like a family reunion! This community is probably THE coolest bunch of people that I've ever had the pleasure of hanging with. For me, that's what BW is all about! I love all you guys (yes, even Stash) and am already counting down till 2011! ~ Chris.

I don't have a whole lot. My main feature is a small TRON layout designed after the 80's movie. There's a few other small things that I'll be bringing as well. Here's some links to my mocpages posts of my stuff if you'd like to check it out. My layout http://mocpages.com/moc.php/203093 My Vic Viper for the Missing Man Formation in tribute to Nnenn. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/207026 See you all in 4 days! ~Chris.

I've had my stuff packed in boxes and ready to go for over a week now... Yes, I wrote that just so you guys could say "Screw you Chris!" HAHAHA Looking forward to meeting everyone this year! This will be my third BrickWorld. For those of you that are new to this, don't worry, we don't bite (well, Stash does, but you have to pay extra for that). It'll be a week you'll never forget (or make that "never remember" but only if you do it right)! I'll be easy to find if you don't know my face. Mark Kelso (the other MOCpages moderator) are going to have an 8ft MOCpages banner over our setup. Find the banner and you'll find us! See you all in a few days! ~Chris.

Stash, I got a few of the MOCpages guys in for Saturday night as well. How many people should we make the reservation for? 20? Between EB and MOCpages (and a few Flickr stragglers) I'm sure we'll get at LEAST that many. And on a seperate note, did Josh arrive yet? I seem to remember he was coming in early... ~Chris.
-
Funny you should mention that. I was thinking the EXACT same thing! I'll call ya, we'll talk. ALSO There MAY be a change in the Legoland trip plans. We MAY be going on Thursday now... don't ask, it's complicated. Don't worry, we'll make sure that everyone that wants to go will. You won't get left behind! I'll post updates if and when I get em. See you all there!
-
Ahh, a south sider. I'm north suburbs myself. About 15 minutes from the Westin actually. Get yourself some Lou's and you'll be fine! Looking forward to meeting everyone this year. Be sure to drop by the MOCpages area and say hi.

Already commented on MOCpages, but this is so cool, it deserves another! In addition to what I said on MOCpages, I also really like the attention to detail on the little things, like the hitching post and the cow skull just to name a couple. See ya in (less than) two weeks! ~ Chris.

What, you don't think cramming in plastic bags in a wide open cardboard box is a good idea? Oh right, someone tried that already didn't they... (not Dave everyone, but someone we know who shipped a moc to him. FUNNY STUFF!) ~Chris. Moving on to a different subject, We're planning a LegoLand trip again this year! Last year, we only had about 15 or so people but MAN it was a blast! We're planning on going on Friday, sometime around 11 or noon. There's no concrete plans in place yet, but it shouldn't be hard to find us. Maybe I'll get a sign that says "Legoland tour group" or something to help people find the group. If you're interested, we'd love to have you! We have a few cars available now, but more may be needed. I'm sure we'll be able to accomodate a good number of people with what we have now, but more is always better. Hope to see you all there! Can't wait to meet new friends and get together again with those who I consider family. TWO WEEKS PEOPLE! WAHOOOO! ~Chris.

Has TLG ever borrowed ideas from AFOLs?
Chris Phipson replied to Superkalle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeap, it really does. Take a look at these two pics that I dug up. The first is one of Arthurs versions http://mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=5...466_DISPLAY.jpg Then here's the one from TLG http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=10189-1 Spooky ain't it? -
Has TLG ever borrowed ideas from AFOLs?
Chris Phipson replied to Superkalle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As a matter of fact, I know of an incident where this exact thing happened. My friend, Arthur Gugick built THE Taj Mahal back in 2005. He did a few revisions on it and it was even the center piece of the Australian movie "Taj" (seriously, check it out, very cool stuff). Here's the link to his original work put out LONG before TLG did. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/10280 I've talked to him about this and let's just say, he's not too happy with the whole situation. There's a lot more background in to this story but I don't know all the details off the top of my head. So rather than speculate, I'll just say that yes, what you're asking about HAS happened. EDIT: Also, be sure to check though the entire folder there to see all the different versions he did. This is an issue that is very personal to Arthur and the more people that see this, the better. ~ Chris. -
I'll do my best not to make "cute pussy, can I pet it?" jokes... whoops, never mind! HAHAHA nice work! ~Chris.

This build was for Team “Legion Of Virile Energetic Moccers Unified For Frivolous Ingenious Naughtiness” (Yes, the abbriviation for that team name was intentional) in the Amalgam category in the MocAthalon over on Mocpages. I chose to amalgamate Atlantis and (Shannon Ocean's theme) Cyborg Racers! The basic concept for cyborg racers is to take a biological being (mostly people, in this case it's sealife) and fuse them into a racing machine then... name them after a song. On with the post! Welcome back Ladies and Gentlefish to the 387th annual Bimini 500! Fans from both Atlantis and the surface have traveled hundreds of fathoms to be here to witness the world’s best undersea cyborg racers go head to head. We’re in the final lap here and it looks like the underdog “Octopus's Garden” has taken over the early favorite “Fins” in the last turn! It’s going to be a close one! “Fins” still has a chance if he can slip past “Octopus’s Garden” once they get out in the open of the final stretch! Which team will swim away with the coveted Poseidon Cup? You control the action! Thanks for checking it out! Till next time true believers! ~Chris.

In the immortal words of Bruce Willis... "Welcome to the party pal!" There should really be a new guys guide to the Lego community, but unfortunatly most of it is trial and error. The one thing that you'll find no matter which Lego site you call home (here, MOCpages, Flickr, Classic Space Forum and so on) is that this community is among one of the nicest and helpful communities I've ever come across. You'll find that if you just explain that you're "new" to the hobby and ask for some direction, someone WILL help you out. I'm new to Eurobricks myself but have been a part of the online community for a few years now. No matter where you go, someone is always there to lend a hand. In the mean time, welcome aboard and good luck to you! We'd love to see some of your MOCs (Your first Accronym. MOC stands for My Own Creation.) and welcome to the AFOL ranks! (Adult Fan Of Lego). ~Chris.

Again, I apologize... I'm fairly new here and am still trying to get a handle on "where things go." I'll figure it out eventually. Thank you whoever moved this post to the proper thread! ~Chris.
