I just got a nice flickr Message from DStasny about the thread. So hi Guys! As much as i would love to, I cant take credit for it. The ship was actually built by Ashley Bognar & Mitchell Kruik who were and are members of my build team. I actually built that tiny small building behind the ship. The model is certainly a beauty, and i can tell you about some of the model: The model like the other models in the museum are designed to travel around so are glued for transport. The mast actually has flex tubing inside it and the black 1x1 round plates have the hole in them, so a single tube can fit nicely to give it support. The yellow flex tube around the hull is indeed held on by LEGO string As for how the hull was done, That im afraid i have no idea, im suggesting a good dusting of Elf tears, Goats hair and a smattering of gold gypsy coins

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
reload replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well I'm glad that box picture showed all three models, because I can now say that all three are rubbish. Minifigs = awesome, but the car, man its a stinker. I'm sure the designers had a whole range of limitations put on them, but there is a decision point, if its not going to look right based on the limitations then why do it at all. Same thing applied with the mini Sydney Opera House. Why bother doing it at all if you are under so many limitations. Personally I'm putting this set in the epic fail category. -
Thanks for your kind words everyone :) And Yes Vincent the colour is great, it is very Netherlands ;) I would love to take it over to Brickworld, it all depends on my work schedule and what can fit in, fingers crossed :) To answer a previous question, Yes there is some steel in it, the rotors and rotor assembly are made of steel then encased in LEGO, the sheer weight of it would snap it like a twig otherwise. Also as these models get shipped around a lot they need to be very strong and robust, so I tend to over engineer.

Hi Eurobrickers. So Here's a reason why all the Eurobrickers down under need to come to Brickvention next weekend. Here is "Elvis" my 100,000 brick Erickson Air-Crane in fire tanker mode. 4m long and over 1m high. It took me just over a month to make, and given his odd shape and very tiny ground touch points made him quite the challenge to build. More pics next week :) Cheers and see you at Brickvention! Ryan

Hi Eurobrickers. Here's another MOC that's very left field. The other week it was the Friends clock for the workshop, now I need a plant in the workshop. I call this one: "Nom, nom, nom" Although I'm still a bit baffled as to what it eats.

Hi Eurobrickers. Here's my latest MOC. “Grimace” Warhammer Model 12D 7th Davion Heavy Guards in Action upon the retaking of Terra. Approx 25,000 Bricks 4Ft Tall 2 Weeks to build (elapsed time, but it has been on and off for months) Special Thanks to the following people: My Wife for putting up with me making “pew pew pew” laser sounds for 2 weeks. Rob Deakin – Inside the Brick for his Brick printing, the Federated Suns Logos are seen to be believed. Jim Foulds from the LEGO group – He gave a speech at Sydbricks in 2012 about how cool it is to remake models you made as a child and what they would look like now. – Well here is mine. DeviantArt - the artist “Punakettu” for his 3D version on the classic Battletech Warhammer model which I used as my inspiration.

Here's a working LEGO Friends clock. It was made for 2 reasons; 1. Just for the Lolz, cos its as cheesy as hell. 2. More importantly, the workshop needed a clock. I used a clock mechanism from a local craft shop, the arms are glued onto the mechanism.

Hi Everyone, I had a EB friend of mine e-mail me that sadly the model has not been well received in Italy by LEGO fans based there. I am really very sorry to disappoint you, i certainly meant no offence in building it the way I did. http://www.romabrick.it/smf/index.php?topic=165.0 Some questions that he translated and asked me; How long did the project take; I had 5 weeks from start of build to get it build and shipped interstate. so about 4 weeks to plan and build it. Why did I build it in white? I chose white because of the very short time frame, I didn't have enough Tan available, plus the museum that it is located in is relatively dark, thus were very comfortable with it in white. Personally as a representation I think it looks great it white, particularly as it is in a dark museum. Some parts do not look correct on it; Its not designed to be a 100% accurate scale model, it is LEGO, after all the emperor is in the pope mobile! It is my artistic version, and given I also chose to do half old style and half ruins I think that kind of distinguishes that its not a 100% prototype. I'm pretty sure that if you asked a thousand people what it is, that all thousand would say exactly what it was. As for the other questions about my poor skills and chosen profession, I think ill leave those unanswered.

Cheers Mike I missed catching up with everyone there this year :( Sadly this was the reason i did miss brickworld, far too many tight deadlines, and of course this monster to make! Hopefully ill be back next year, i even have plans for a new MOC which will hopefully top my other creations ;)

Hi All, I was again reminded how I need to be posting on EB, so many apologies for my oversight. But anyway here is my latest creation, a LEGO Colosseum, approx 200,000 bricks, just over a months work and I hoe something you will enjoy. (As always i had a heck of a lot of fun doing the little details!) A big thanks to Gabe who gave me a hand on the project. Lots more pictures on Flickr. (linked in my signature too)

Thanks for the kind words guys :) At this stage not sure yet about the USA, I would really like to, as we have a blast every year, its always awesome to be setting up next to the Eurobricks guys :) - only problem is it costs a stack of cash to ship these models around, so ill be busy saving up my pennies to make the trek :) As for how it is built and put together, I'm giving a talk on that topic at brickvention next week, about how I incorporate steel etc. into my models, so after that talk ill post some behind the scenes pictures here for you guys. As for next years big model...... I already have some plans underway :)

Hi Everyone, Here's my Brickvention 2012 model. 120,000 Bricks. 5.7m tall About 250 hours to design and construct. there is some steelwork inside due to its height and public display needs. The tallest thing I have ever built, and I dare say it I'm never going that high again. :) there are some great behind the scenes pics which ill share with after Brickvention. Questions more than welcome, plenty more high-res pictures on my flickr stream Cheers Ryan

The full box set cover sadly would turn out to be nothing short of an abomination in LEGO, so a more colourful substitute was found :) All up its about 100 man hours to build, with another 20-30 in pre production and messing around in photoshop etc. Design was done in conjunction with Steve Gerling, and many hands made it happen; MUGs and SYDlug even the good wife helped me out, which was a first! Basically one pixel is a brick and work that way, I think there is a tutorial here on EB on how to make a mosaic using photoshop. The Mosaic is now in the front offices of Twentieth Century Fox Studios in Sydney.

Hi Guys N Gals. I am not much of a Star Wars person, but I recently completed a cool Star Wars project which I thought you all may like. 110,00 Brick Copy of the new Star Wars Blu-Ray Box set cover. Was a lot of fun and had a heap of helpers. Thanks MUGs and SYDlug! It was unveiled at the launch party in the Pitt St Mall in Sydney.

Hi Everyone, I just thought I would share my MOC from the recent brilliant event downunder at Brickvention 2011, and also to give a bit of a Eurobricks Exclusive by posting all the details about it here. The Love Boat It is approximatley 250,000 pieces. its over 3.2 meters long, 1 meter high. It is built in 2x 32 baseplate modules for transport and assembly. No pieces are glued. It contains over 400 LED lights for the interior It has many Power functions including: Lifeboat raise/lower, propeller, rudder, anchor, internal lifts and bow thrusters. About 450 minfigs are scattered throughout the ship. It took around about 450 hours to construct with 70 of that being design time. There is a stack of easter eggs and hidden stuff including movie references, love boat related things and all sorts of other wierd stuff :) The Model will also be shown in June at Brickworld Chicago. You can see plenty more pics on my flickr account: My Flickr Account
