  1. Sorry for a slight off-topic, but I found some interesting pictures of old (80ties) hungarian fabuland bootlegs:
  2. I have non-printed dark blue barding, black barding and some bright orange parts like the knight visor... Completely off topic, I'm actually an accidental honored citizen of its shorter-named cousin Hódmezövásárhely http://query.nytimes...750C0A9639C8B63
  3. I usually got a little set when my parents were going to Hungary from Croatia to buy (smugle ) some cheap food in the 80ties. It was a big surprise because there was no way of knowing which sets will they have in the store. This is the lot (missing a little futuron 6830 and fabuland police motorcycle): I got the "big" sets like the plane, forestmen or stable for special occasions. I remember being very embarrassed upon getting the forestmen because I felt "too old" to play (I guess I was around 12). Notice a hungarian bootleg fabuland cow
  4. Exaclty the "problem" I have. I love LOTR, but think Orthanc is too monotone and in general not really a super cool set I would expect for that price. Also too expensive to get for completeness only. Perhaps I would get it anyway, but there's Ewok village - which is a Lothlorien forest waiting to happen... And I really like it. So, I think I'll go with the village, despite the fact that I'm not into SW.
  5. The headless lady is equally bad as she was before - no additional color got lost. Unfortunatelly (or not), I've had no "good" yellowed minifigs for testing. I've also treated some pirate flags whose print remained jet black, but was't able to catch the (visible) difference in whiteness with my camera. The treated parts eg. horses looked considerably whiter afterwards than the horses I didn't treat (beacuse they didn't look at all yellow) - so there's white and there's White. Some parts were left out on the balcony for days (most of the time not in the direct sunlight though), and re-treated every once in while when the creme dried out...
  6. Best explanation ever Since I use the creme, and don't actually dip the parts into the H_2 O_2 but rather just smear it over the problem area, I've really had absolutely no issues with destroyed parts, even after a long exposure this is a before and after for a horse and some other stuff (sorry for off topic)
  7. You need UV light, so black light would do (this is similar to what dentists do when whitening teeth )
  8. Nice space sets. Before my time, I'm more of a futuron fan. I've used 12% hydrogen peroxide creme for yellowed white, gray, blue pieces and have had great results. Just leave the parts in the sun for a day or two. Even the printed parts were perfect (don't know about the gold). Use handgloves and keep away from the eyes.
  9. The result looks very nice. Congratulations on a nice set. There are, as far as I know, three versions of the stickers, one from the 6075, e.g: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=496975 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=496976 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=496977 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=496978
  10. First class review! Especially since it was a MISB set. As for the set - I am one of those not-so-fond-of-dragon-knights people and prefer the classic castles - classic being: no giant dragon head sticking out of the wall , but I guess the set has its appeal .
  11. noooooooooo... Horse is my all-time favorite LEGO part. It is what draws my LEGO fascination. Remodeling it would kill the attraction. (just like I hate the new Playmobil horses, and I loved the old ones). I also want new horse colors and don't really see the problem in producing them (dapple greys, palominos/buckskins/cremellos, nice diverse paints without indian markings, detailed print with white legs and white facial markings), but no new molds!
  12. New sets look very promising. I'm looking forward to the goats, chickens and especially the new dark green barding - can't wait to see the details on that one .
  13. Love the Winter Village theme Here are my votes: cecilie: Santa's Post Office 1 Dix: Tram Station 1 kost u grlu: Train Station 3
  14. My oriental troops: (also in historic section Treasures of the Orient)
  15. Thank you for your comments! Yes, I guess the elephants are really ‘pimped’ – keep in mind that they are created by Aladdins genie . I just got a bit bored by my castle troops, and went onto creating something different. The elephants are original LEGO form the Orient sets, more precisely: 7414 Elephant Caravan (dark gray) 7418 Scorpion Palace (light gray) (and are getting more and more expensive) I wasn’t quite sure where to put this, into Historic or Licensed subforum, but I thought elephants filled with gems is not too historic. Although, when I see things like caveman’s car – maybe I should have gone with the historic section…
  16. BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM MAKE WAY! MAKE WAY! MAKE WAY for prince Aladdin's treasure! MAKE WAY for the precious gifts! BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM...
  17. Yes, I've noticed this also - the color of the pearl grey is not the same - I really don't mind, actually kind of like it - what I do mind is the "soft plastic" - meaning the damage to the sword handle is visible after a just a couple of or only one hand changing - what is the point of a weapon you can't even put into the minifigs hands without damaging it? I've seen this with the Atlantis tridents before, but did not think they will "spread" the soft plastic onto other themes/colors. Now, the pearl grey plastic is just as bad as the pearl gold...
  18. Very beautiful and tame (aside from the witch burning) village I like such MOCs.
  19. Well, I own most of them (actually all between 1984 and 1988), but I only connected the two BFF... not a big image (can't find the big original currently):
  20. Want to compare wizards? This might help:
  21. I did not recieve a dark sword within a set
  22. And some minifig images (front and back):
  23. I'm not sure this deserves a separate topic, so here it goes: left: Brick Forge bucket helm right: LEGO bucket helm I prefer the look and feel of the LEGOs one, although my favorite is still the movable visor helmet.
  24. If anybody's interested: I really dislike the fact that the Dragon BP has the silver weapons.
