Motorized AT-AT - backordered for 10th Jan. 2011!?
pdxbricks replied to pdxbricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the offer, but I called them on Friday and they said the X-wings are on their way. I agree with you, I don't like the new AT-AT, the motorized one is so much more fun! They did say over the phone that my order is not canceled, so I'm still hoping. -
A week ago I ordered a motorized AT-AT 10178, it was backordered for Apr. 30th. This morning S@H said this set is backordered for May 20th or so, now it says 10th January 2011 . Does this mean that the set is unavailable, even if you've ordered it? I remember seeing something like this with Winter Toy Shop. Two X-wings I also ordered that were also on backorder with the same date just shipped this morning.

How about a train station along the lines of modular house product line, like the recent fire station and grand emproium? People interested in modular houses would probably be interested as well as the train fans.

I would advise caution when using rechargeable batteries: I've used Duracell rechargeable AA batteries and fried the receiver unit in my 8376.

Hmm, went to the store again yesterday, and was told that they don't have any pieces to fill the grab bags with. Go figure!!!

Star Wars sets were 50% off at my local retailer, so I bought: 3x 8038 8087 8088 8017 7749 8014 and also 7924 and few days earlier in Lego shop 852783

I went yesterday to our local store and asked about grab bags. They told me that they have a big tub in the back that they fill up with broken-up set pieces, and once it's full they fill the grab bags and put them out for sale. My impression was that there are few people there that get tipped off when special deals are available (a lady in front of me got a 7897 set for $49.99, allegedly from S@H return, although it's been at least 3 months since last I saw it in the store, and I'm pretty sure I saw one guy get a grab bag with mostly minifigs even though they told me that there were none available), so I doubt I'll be able to get my hands on one of the grab bags. They'll probably be sold out on the first day.

They were selling these bags for $5 at 2009 Brickfest in Portland. There was a limited slection of parts that you could put in (like a small PaB), but the quantity that can fit in is HUGE!!! (especially if you don't close the bag, just fill it up to the rim). They are about the size of a half-galon bag. I haven't seen any of these bags in the local Lego store, though, I need to take a closer look next time I'm there.

MOC: Model of German DB v200 Diesel Locomotive
pdxbricks replied to train lover's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi, you can download the instructions.mpd file from James's brickshelf folder with instructions and upload it to Bricklink as a new Wanted list. Then you can find shops that have the parts you need. Thanks, Darko -
Excellent creation! I particularly like the scale of the cars compared to the loco, they look like real passenger cars, unlike the one that comes with EN. Good job!

Hmm, I can't say for the earlier sets, but when Emerald Night shows up in my local LEGO store, by Sunday evening it is gone from the shelves.

Metal axles for lego
pdxbricks replied to habit's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The metal axle x1687 in the Emerald Night set, the Train Hobby set, etc. is a simple round shaft used to connect two small train wheels, part# 57878, which then snap into a wheel holder 2878. It is thinner than the technic axle, and it's round, and cannot be used instead of a technic axle. -
Selander, could you share the template for the decal, I'd like to make one for the engine I'm currently making?
-
Very nice MOC, I really like the color combination!! Also, decal works great, the color is matched well to the dark blue.
-
Hi Patrick, I've seen your webpage before, the layout is great!!! I especially like the idea of using gravel for ballasting the tracks.
-
Too bad, they could have made such a nice set with the new wheels

Well, it is available on bricklink, but I can get two new switches for less than the price of one on BL. Also, looking closer at the picture you attached, I think I can see where the connection is made, it is probably molded in the plastic. Without making the connections there won't be current in the two segments, so the train will stop once it passes the switch. I've tried this. I hate drilling through LEGO, but I guess I'll have to do it, if that is the best solution. Using tape would just be too bulky. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi all! I got out of my dark ages right at the end of the 9V era, and I was able to collect quite a few of curved tracks, some straight tracks, but none of the 9V switching points . Since the RC counterpart 7895 is still available, I thought I could apply the tinned copper foil and use those instead. I found the 1/4" 3M self-adhesive tinned Cu tape and applied it to all the tracks, with good results. However, I soon realized that I need to make additional connections between two segments. I was going to upload the picture here to show the segments in question, but I wasn't able to do it (I'm new ). I know that people have successfully done this with 7996, so I was hoping someone would share their experience here. Thanks. Update, here is the photo, with two pairs of segments joined by lines in different color. Does someone have a neat solution that will not be very visible?

Still no images of the new Hogwarts Express?
-
AllanSmith was the first to announce the new train sets, and the first one to provide the price for them (although this has yet to be confirmed when the sets come out). If he says that the sets are coming out, they most probably are!
-
Any pics yet of the new Hogwarts Express #4841 ???
-
The Grand Carousel #10196 has similar artwork on the box, with a big + sign and the list of all the PF components included. I was hoping this will be the case for the train sets too.

So, judging by the pictures, the power functions components will be included with each set?
