  1. Thanks for the advice everyone so far, the quantity of 1500 for #1593 is also what my vintage lego source told me also. My post on the Bricklink forum is getting some good responses also, I love to talk about vintage lego!
  2. Hello, I am beginning to work on a collection of rare vintage space lego sets (I loved playing with legos growing up, and the very rare and hard ones to find really attract my attention). #1593 is one of the sets that I am getting, and I am planning on displaying it in my house in a few years. Anyways, I was curious if anyone knew how many of the sets were made? The source that I contacted said he thought that 1500 total were made, but he suggested that I ask on here and that one of the Bricklink members would know the answer to this question. (In case you are wondering, I am going to make little information cards to go with the sets that I display, kind of like a museum) Thanks in advance, Ryan P.S. I have made this post on Bricklink also so I can connect with more fans of vintage space lego!
  3. I am working on purchasing a few expensive lego sets, and there is one seller in particular on Bricklink that has them in stock. Would it be rude or wrong of me to email him and ask him if I could get some sort of discount on them (or even if I order just one of them?). These sets are very rare and also very expensive, I have noticed that the ones in stock have been there for several months (most likely due to the high price and rarity of the sets). Thanks in advance, this question is burning on my mind!
  4. My collection is currently worth somewhere close to $1000, although I am selling most of the sets on Ebay to get a hold of a few more expensive, rarer sets.
  5. I remember looking at the Winter Toy Shop set a few weeks ago and thinking, "that would be a cool set to get especially for display by the Christmas tree." Once a few weeks came by, I saw that it was out of stock at Lego, and the price was skyrocketing on Ebay! Even at $100 I consider the set worth it, but I will probably wait for hopefully the price to be driven down somewhat before picking it up.
  6. Welcome to Eurobricks, it is a very fun forum to visit, as well as very informative for Lego-related things of course
  7. I would suggest that you get a program like LDraw (Lego CAD) and try to visualize and then make your creations in there. Once you do that, you can slowly purchase the inventory of parts and place them into small plastic bags. Once you get your own place, you can take it all out, build it, and start having your legos on display like you want!
  8. Welcome Capto, your obsession with looking through Brickshelf, Bricklink, etc. is something that I also share, glad to have you here!!! We should discuss MOC ideas sometime
  9. Welcome to Eurobricks from a fellow new member!!!
  10. Hello everyone, I am a new member that just joined today, although I have been looking at and enjoying the Eurobricks forums for several months now. My real name is Ryan, and everyone here is free to call me by that if they wish. I got engaged to be married several months ago (we are getting married in 2011), and found out that my fiance likes to play with Legos also!!! I was really surprised when she shared this with me, but at the same time I was very happy also. I have played with legos since I was probably 6-7 years old, probably even earlier. I honestly believe that playing with legos as I grew up helped me to form good skills that are useful in daily life (like time management and the ability to visualize what I am thinking of). These are also experiences that I plan to share with my children when we(my fiance and I) have them in the future. Space lego sets are my favorite theme, although Classic Space would probably rank as my #1 Space series always and forever. I will be posting my wanted list in the trading forum, which so far is going to consist of the very rare space sets (which I love collecting!). My plans are to collect some specific rare sets and display them in my house, and then go from there. I have some space sets now, but am currently selling pretty much all of them on Ebay to get a few sets which I have been after since I first heard of them (probably a good 6-7 years or so at the least). I am currently saving up money and working towards getting #1968 Unknown and #1593 Super Model (having the boxes and inner boxes/trays/plastic inserts is very important to me as well), and after that working on getting #4999 Vestas Wind Turbine. I will probably be pursuing sets and such after that, but those are definetely the big ones. We are saving to get a house as well, so I figured that getting the very big (expensive) sets first is probably the best idea, because once we get our house there will be more costs and responsibilities that will need to be taken care of. Thanks for reading!
  11. I used to have the original set of 6 toa, with Tahu being my favorite. In a way they use to remind me of being like G.I. Joe figures, but in lego form. As time went on though, I guess that the newer style of Bionicle's seemed to turn me off in a way. The way it is for me, I learned that I prefer the original Bionicle figures over the newer style ones.
  12. Very nice armies, I hope to someday amass a Classic Space man army (not the new style of course). It is interesting how amassing a lego army has a Lord of the Rings type of feel to it, with so many minifigures being involved.
  13. I can't wait to try out Lego Universe, it sounds like a whole brick world of fun
  14. Make sure you uninstall your old graphics drivers before installing new ones, I have encountered major problems with my computer installing a new set of drivers over the old ones. I ended up having to use system restore to get myself out of the mess!!!
