Looks pretty good, I'm with Berry, the railing and stern don't flow with the color scheme, but like he said understandable if you lack pieces, or don't you? good ship, I only don't really like the technic masts... Arrr Mr Tiber

Ah yes, DMC was my only information source before I discovered a site what berry syedow posted in this tread earlier, however that was before I discovered EB...

They still stand after six months?! mine fell apart, in an hour, crappy best lock :-|

Thank you!!!! I needed that!! How do you know all this?! Is there a site, with interior pics? Please tell me it is!!

Suggestion: maybe a bit difficult but she should be longer, the flying dutchman is longer she is really huge!! I am currently tryin' too build a flying dutchman on a brick-build, gray hull, the old gray looks more ''greener'' and thats the best colour bah the dutchman is huge, fortunatly my amount of gray pieces is quite huge too :-/ , but your'e ship is great as it is now, don't partly destroy it because of my comment! about the main deck: I don't have a pic of it but there is a thing too summon the kraken, do you already have a Davy Jones minifig? if yes could you post it? That sounds like you know how much cannons she has, how much mate?! *skull*

Looks good, what program do you use for making decals? never knew it, could ya tell me mate?
-
Wow looks great! Love the stern, can't wait to see the final outcome!
-
I'm now imagining how she would look... wow... great, i suggest you should change the bow, make it bit higher, or she may look too blocky even after this changes! lengthening is a great advance on your ship, I asume you will add a third mast??Love to see the final outcome, good luck! Arrr Mr Tiber

Is there a reason why the LDD cannon and the first cannon are a bit different?...the end of the barrel http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=LFH002&mid...f7-215a81322d04 I also want to ask you what you used for buildin' the hull, is it build with invert slopes or with normal bricks? Arrr Mr Tiber

Don't worry the sulotion is pretty simple, keel haul him, and grab his purse wat is floating in the water....
-
Well, I never said that cannon was my design, so . Jack dagger, why did you thought it was mine? just want to know :-) Arrr Mr Tiber

Those are great! but thats not my design!

Actually we all should get used to this size of ships, actually this size is pretty normal for a real ship, we are all used at ''little'' ships mostly build on LEGO hulls, take a look at the 3D HMS Indefatiguable, it looks like a normal sized ship, compared to another lego ship, it would be great if we all should build ''big'' ships like this, however there are obstacles: amount of parts, you will need lots of parts for this size of ships, and offcourse, you need proper skills for it... Arr , master and commander, almost forgot it, thanks to remind me! It also inspired me

So tell me, how would you build a brick built hull?
-
I voted brown, would like to see large black, large white, gray and yellow(yes yellow!) in the future. Some of the ships in the 17th and 19th century had a quite bright color, like yellow or white.

Well, lets say Disney inspired me :-) As a lil kid I loved the movie Peter Pan, not because of the flying guy, but captain hook and his ship!! After I saw POTC 1, I wanted a ship from the movie, I started thinking what, dauntless was too big, the Pearl was unclear, so I was going for the Interceptor, well my current frigate was supposed to be this, it came out a bit different *wacko* basicly I am inspired by pirate movies, and stories. Later I started a love with old sailing ships, the main reason that my ''Interceptor'' came out like it is now. Computer games also inspired me, like Pirates of the Caribbean(actually sea dogs II, Disney bought it over) or Empire Earth II. Arrr Mr Tiber

Great ship, great site, great cannon design, when do you think it will be finished??
-
Great ship, but I think it isn't very sturdy, must be heavy, very immpressive! It is too big , look at all those cannons! how much are they?
-
I'm a bit short on hull parts, and i never liked painting big LEGO pieces, If you want to build a black Black Pearl, I think black invert slopes are an option, but a brown hull also does the job :-) Also for the Flying Dutchman, dark gray invert slopes are probarly the best. A Black Pearl on a brown hull isn't that bad, but I bet that it would look terrible on the Flying dutchman! Arrr Mr Tiber

Has POTC crossed the line? Should Lego follow?
El Bucanero replied to SirScottLego's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, I think there's nothing wrong with the fantasy in POTC, and I would love to see a lego kraken! However there is a dark side on it, for example, the kraken could be am ugly 2-part creature or something, the ships, probarly with a 4+ hull and way too short armed with technic cannons. About your question: The viking Dragons are also fantasy, and it didn't came out that bad. But I don't love the approach of cursed ships and fictional sea monsters... un-cursed ships do the job as well :-) The first Pirate theme I like THAT approach
