  1. One can only hope. Edit: before anyone gets on my case about it, while I've never been a big fan of PF, I understood completely why they switched... it just seems they could have done so much better and had the best of both worlds... once again, it takes AFOLs to show up LEGO on how to combine PF and electric rail to get the usability of PF with the convenience of electric rail. Of course, LEGO is not a model train company, and I don't expect that, if they change from PF, that it will be something that is actually better than PF or 9/12V.
  2. I finally got around to it... I have a thread here in the minifigure customization section of the website.
  3. I like the CSI style white glove. Nice one.
  4. We know the Werewolf hair from Series 4 is the same mold as the Elf hair from Series 3 so, as has been discussed a few times on the site, I finally got the right nail polish and made some dark elf hair by coloring the brown ears yellow; now we can have elves from Rivendell as well as Mirkwood! DSCF0792 by FredJH, on Flickr DSCF0790 by FredJH, on Flickr DSCF0788 by FredJH, on Flickr Could have been a little better, but I was using the nail polish brush instead of my modelling brush. I can't find any paint or nail polish that matches LEGO Yellow, but I think I actually did a better job than they did with their elf hair. The nail polish I used is called "Sinful Colors," and I found them at Walgreens. I used a mix of two colors: 953 "Unicorn," and 928 "Let's Meet." I feel so sinful... people were looking at me with my minifugre head in hand trying to match colors.
  5. Here's a twist... how about themes I can get, but know I will regret not getting? My LEGO budget can only go so far, and my tastes have been too varied. I've already scaled back on many themes... don't think I have to feel bad about missing out on yet another castle when I'm happy with the two I have; I've severely limited my SW purchases to OT and only if I don't already have it (IOW, if they come out with a new X-Wing or A-Wing or Y-Wing, I'll pass - no matter how good they are, I'll already have them). But it's not enough, because, damn them, they keep coming out with more stuff... they brought back HP, and now they've got POTC... So even though I build microscale castles, and even though I use LEGO to play Dungeons and Dragons, I simply can't bring myself to by the Heroica games. At a mere $85 for the entire set of games, it may not seem that bad, but I already buy too much. I know I will regret missing them, I just can't bring myself to sink money into yet another new theme.
  6. Those pictures aren't too big, they're perfect. Too bad they're computer renderings and not actual shots. Still, they look awesome!
  7. Great Elven Tree, SilvaShado, very impressive. Looks like it's got everything but a bathroom! I like the hammocks. The vertical brown plate kinds of throws me; I like the integration with the brown palisade bricks... I was able to get a box of those (1x2) at my local LEGO store, so maybe you could try there... I know what you mean about the cost, brown is expensive.
  8. I actually did get a set of the original rule books. I think the kids are liking the newer rules, though, because they allow special features for characters that weren't in the original rules. For me, the newer rules are turning out to not be that bad really, but the way they're explained in the books is so convoluted as to make it nearly impossible. I think they do it that way so you buy more stuff, especially the D&Di (Dungeons and Dragons Interactive) subscription (I think that's what it's called), which includes an online character creator. Also the newer game play is centered around larger scale and using "dungeon tiles" (i.e. more stuff to buy), which is why I want to use LEGO. We've actually done a bit of playing using minifigures; I've gotten a bunch of new pieces and will upload pictures of my "modules" and generic playing area when I can. I think it's been working well so far.
  9. I'm not going to separate out an unopened set unless you can find someone else to take the rest of it.
  10. closed.
  11. Wasn't the Home One a fan "chosen" set? I don't think it went over that well. The "fans" liked it, but I don't know how well it sold overall. Except for the completely iconic ships, I don't think you'd recognize any Star Wars sets as being Star Wars without the figures. Granted, most of the sets are iconic ships.
  12. I have it, and I'm glad Harry's the only repeat (well, the dementor, but there's no problem having more of them). I actually don't think Lupin looks at all comparable to the movie Lupin.
  13. Nice... love the two sided face. None of my Jacks has the tricorner hat, either. I would love to trade someone for one or two of these. I had expected this to be like the setting at the end of "At World's End," where he's in the little boat heading out in search for Aqua de Vida, but he had a map. Thanks to the review, I notice the bottle is not "the" bottle, but just a bottle. It's a really nice little set.
  14. I've encountered those pieces on the TIE Defender . Didn't know what to say... some were OK, some not. I didn't complain to LEGO because I figured it was just how they were doing it now... unlike the recent POTC Isla de Muerta fiasco, where they showed the new coins on the box and you got something completely different, there was really no way to complain about "false advertising." I also figured they are concentrating more on the "visible" or "appearance" side and cutting corners on the backs... obviously a terrible approach, if true, when you consider how the piece is used to construct the TIE Defender "wings," and that you never know now people will use the part. I need to learn to complain more.
  15. I like both collecting them and the ideas that they bring me for MOCs, as well as the occasional characters that fit in with the things I already do (like the elves and the upcoming dwarfs).
  16. Huh... I liked the first three movies (in order from first to last), and I thought this one was OK, just... well... continues the usual trend that each sequel is worse than the last. Still, I think the movie had redeeming qualities, so I stand by my "ok." It was "ok."
  17. Just saw POTC: On Stranger Tides. It was... OK. I don't think we saw enough Penelope Cruz.
  18. Wow... great story; hope to see a lot of MOCs in the future, but as someone who only this week started using LEGO in conjunction with roll playing games (I started a thread here), I'm interested to see what you've done for Warhammer.
  19. Google Translate? I know it's not usually very clear, but you can usually get what people are trying to say. Edit: In fact, if you view the page in Google Chrome, it will ask if you want to translate the entire page all at once for you.
  20. ...and you're supposed to spray that stuff on your body?
  21. But that would have to be in the store terms, otherwise it's not valid.Always read the store terms... they almost always give a good indication on shipping/handling, even if they can't tell you exactly how much. You also see store minimums and maximums and other things that might just drive you to another store, but it's usually all right there in the terms.
  22. Urban Dictionary I like definition 3, but I'll give Brink the benefit of the doubt and apply 1 or 2. Welcome to EB, Brink, looking forward to seeing some MOCs (especially castle).
  23. Kick Megablocks? Really, EB? It's not a "curse" word by itself! I even hear it in cartoons!
  24. The problem is that even with transparent bins in the drawers, you still wouldn't be able to tell everything that was in the drawer from the front. I'm moving away from the bins in the drawers for most pieces to the Akro-Mills organizers. The problem with the AM organizers is that they don't have a lot of depth (less than half the depth of a sterilite drawer), which means they "waste" depth space since putting one in front of another is not a reasonable proposition. Still, I'm getting better organized with the AM organizers I have, so I'm ordering a couple more. Still need to make dividers, though. I will also continue to use the Stanley Organizers with labels. Like the drawers, when I have them stacked up you can't see what's in them, but when you take one out you see immediately all the pieces you have. That's one of the reasons why, if you've organized well, I don't think the problem of transparent bins is a big one... if it's a drawer of slopes, you open it up and see all the different slopes you have... no problem.
