  1. 5. RANDOM DRAWINGS: A series of five random drawings will be conducted from among all eligible entries on or about December 15, 2010 by members of the Marketing Team at LEGO Systems, Inc. Decisions of the judges will be final. One Prize Winner from each prize region will be selected. Prize Winners will be notified by email on or before December 20, 2010.
  2. Personally, I don't mind paying $2.99 for these if that is the new MSRP. However, I didn't like paying $2.99 when the MSRP was $1.99. Likewise, I won't pay the $3.99 that TRU is currently trying to get for these.
  3. Thanks. I see the set was inventoried on Bricklink now. I think the "Dark Bluish Gray Train Base 6 x 28 with 2 Square Cutouts and 3 Round Holes Each End" is a much better base for the trailer than the old set's "Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes." Both the slightly shorter length and the single level of the new base make it a better choice.
  4. I actually like this new set more than the old one which my kids have. What is the base piece this trailer is built on? The base of the trailer is the biggest problem I have with the old set, it prevent the prison area at the rear of the trailer from being useful since it is raised up. I like that on this trailer a prisoner can stand up in the prison cell. While the old set may have more pieces, the small toll station included with it wasn't as useful as the motorcycle and robber's car in this set. If I walked into Toys R Us today and had these two sets to chose from, I think I'd pick this one.
  5. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't email everyone who entered, only the winners. As I recall, you could request a list of winners, but I'd have to re-read the rules to figure out how to do that. Edit: Yes, found it in the rules: By completing the entry, Entrant (or parent or guardian) consents to receive a follow-up message from the LEGO Group via e-mail. Winners will be notified by email to the indicated email address. Here is how you can get the list: 8. WINNERS: For the names of the winners, send a separate, stamped, self-addressed (#10) envelope to: ""Win your LEGO® Holiday Wish List!"" Prize Giveaway, LEGO Systems, Inc., 555 Taylor Road, Enfield, CT 06083 USA, to be received by January 20, 2011. Residents of Canada and the U.S. State of Vermont may omit return postage.
  6. Spotted tonight at the Grand Chute WI Wal Mart, $2.97. Picked up the Hula Dancer and Cyborg using a combination of looking at the dots and feeling the packages. There's only one more I want - the pilot... but since nobody else seems to want him I was in no rush to continue looking through 30+ packages to find him.
  7. Barbie and Hot Wheels may have been around a long time, but they have sacrificed quality over the past 20 years. I bought my 2 year old daughter a Barbie Doll, and instead of being a soft flexible plastic, the legs are hard and non-posable. I personally had hundreds of Matchbox and Hot Wheels as a kid, and you can tell the difference instantly when you pick up a current car vs. a car from 20 years ago, there is far more plastic and far less metal than there used to be. I was away from LEGO for 20+ years until my son was old enough about 2 years ago, and while people complain about the cheap plastic and quality control, if there is any difference it is slight. Putting together a set feels just the same as it did 20+ years ago, and the quality is quite a bit better than a COBY pirate ship my in-laws bought (a ship made of parts that look like LEGO, but don't hold together at all). So LEGO deserves to be the #1 toy. Out of my five nephews, all four who are old enough for LEGO, wanted LEGO for Christmas this year. That was the only common item on all four wish lists, which should tell you something about why LEGO is #1.
  8. It's been a long time since I played 40K, but I remember the Landraider well and this is an excellent recreation of it. The only thing that looks different to me is the size, but perhaps the Landraider has grown since I had one many years ago. To be honest though, I like the size of this because the plastic model I had always seemed small. The scale on this as compared to the minifigs seems better to me.
  9. Both of my kids entered, but I can't recall what they added to their lists. My daughter added the Farm, a Creator House, the Passenger Train and various small sets. My son added a mixture of Star Wars, Space Police, City, Kingdoms. I had to suggest some small sets because his wish list of course was tending toward the large expensive sets.
  10. The Series 3 figures seem to be warming the shelf at Toys R Us with their $3.99 price tag. I've been to the Appleton WI TRU three times this week (Friday, Monday, Today), and every time there is a box of Series 3 sitting on the shelf. Either these aren't moving or they are restocking. Either way it looks like our minifig shortage has finally ended in the US, assuming you are willing to meet the TRU price.
  11. Thanks for this reply Davey! I had the same question as the original poster, but in my case the LEGO are sitting outside in the Wisconsin cold (only a bit warmer than the MN cold) so that the kids don't find their Christmas presents in advance. They generally don't stay out there long, just until the kids go to bed, but this week our temps have been in the negative degrees Fahrenheit, so I was somewhat worried that it wouldn't be good for the bricks.
  12. I think what I like about this plane, is that even though the front and back are brick built instead of being large pieces, it would still fit right into a modern City airport. Thanks for posting this review of a wonderful older set.

    WIP: Museum

I've heard of Museums of Natural History, Museums of Art, but I think this is the first Museum of Collectible Minifigs that I've ever seen. It is truly a wonderful creation.

    MOC: Airport

I really love this MOC! It is so incredible I noticed that even the Space Shuttle has come for a visit. I think all of the little details on the interior really help this creation stand out. If I ever decide to build an airport for my LEGO City, this will certainly be a source of inspiration to me.

    Luau

The choice of the two minifig gentlemen is perfect! Too bad the Lei was painted on the Hula girl and not a separate part, the tourist would be even more perfect wearing one as well!
  16. I love the waterfront/harbor, especially the picture with the ships facing the camera. I wish I had the space and the ships to create such a nice waterfront.
  17. No, I picked up the Traveller (7567) a year ago this week at Toys R Us, and posted the first review on Brickset that night (which 5/10 people don't like).
  18. Thanks for the review! This is one of the sets that might make it to my 'buy' list, but I've been waiting for the reviews to come rolling in. Would it be possible to get a shot of the interior of the rear section of the helicopter. I seem to recall that the Fire chopper had some obstruction in the rear area. Thanks!
  19. Saw the second shipment of these at the local TRU (Appleton, WI) tonight. They weren't there yesterday. Unfortunately the price is now up to $3.99, was $2.99 last week. Too rich for my blood. I have 10 of them already, I'll wait for the last few until I find them at Target or Wal Mart at a lower price. These are definitely shipping to TRU in greater quantity than the previous series. I never saw Series 1, only the empty box on one occasion. Saw Series 2 a few times, but usually a box or two at a time. Now with Series 3, they've had more in one week than I think they've had total from the first two series.
  20. I don't have any packaged Series 3 to check, but as I recall there were bumps and dents, innies and outties, however you want to describe them some were raised and some were indented. My guess is that this new chart is trying to reflect that, but since I don't have a package I can't tell you which is which... a key on the chart would be nice.
  21. I'm sure I speak for many, but I've certainly enjoyed every new post you've made in this thread. This latest example is another amazing creation, complete with a junkyard dog! I love it. The photography is also superb. I could see images of a LEGO City like yours being collected in a book like Sean Kenney's Cool Cars and Trucks.
  22. I'll believe it when I see it. Last year it was listed as coming out in 2010, but then the date slipped. Hopefully this date is more accurate.
  23. This is probably one of my three favorites so far! Love the fireplace, the boy sledding, the shoveler, the Santa... The one part that looks odd to me is the uneven roof line... but all of the little details really make this MOC shine!
  24. Wow! That is awesome. I remember this show from my childhood, even had all of the toys (http://www.virtualtoychest.com/wwarriors/wwarriors.html). The interesting thing about your model is that since it is made out of LEGO, it's even more customizable than the original Mattel toys!
  25. Pacc, thanks for the reply. I think I just picked up one of those brackets from the Pick a Brick wall last month. Interestingly I love the look of 7991, but you are correct that it is very fragile. I think that's the set I've reconstructed for my kids more than any other. However, I think a bigger problem than the fragile connection on 7991 is the weight of the back end that is attached by the fragile connection. I would think that your model wouldn't have as much weight hanging by a stud.
