LOL, I am watching Doctor Who right now. And I do hope Blacktron returns!
-
Thanks! I knew it! That booming voice and time vortex were all too familiar... brings back memories of watching Star Trek re-runs as a child
-
Is the "Guardian of Tomorrow" a spoof of the Star Trek "Guardian of Forever"?
-
Very nice! This is the kind of facility I always wanted for my Lego Space fleet when I was a child. The guy washing the windows of the docked spacecraft is my favorite detail
-
There seem to be antiques in that garage... swords, cement mixer, etc. I wonder if Ronald and Mikey's father had something to do with The Doctor and time travel.
-
I just noticed The Doctor standing next to the TARDIS in the first frame! He sure does like to keep a close watch on Ronald.
-
Yeah, I'd say the Daleks are just about the right size. They are shorter than humans, and I remember that the Doctor and his companions were able to push them around or even knock them over when they were malfunctioning.
-
Hahaha... Coldwell seems to like being bossed around as much as Massoch likes being beaten by Blacktron or anyone else who will throw a punch
-
"Nature special about sea life" - ROFL!!!! I like the rock guy hanging out at Schwartz' house too.
-
K9 is a nice detail. I always liked that loyal robot dog.
-
Thanks for clarifying! Commander Schwartz is so crazy that I thought it was possible that Amarillo really was buzzed by the Gamma-V, haha!
-
Hmm... I would have considered bidding on that if it included Commander Schwartz in the set (black uniform), but even then I wouldn't pay $150+. Yikes. The packaging is interesting - this must be very old as it has a photo of the 918 on it, with Captain Jefferson Dash (red uniform) piloting.
-
Was it ever established if Captain Amarillo's crash earlier in the series was caused by a UFO, or was it Commander Schwartz buzzing him in the Gamma V? The DACTA report and Schwartz's comments seemed ambiguous. I keep thinking it is related to the 918 for some reason.

Haha! Does the Ice Babe (Priscilla) have a last name? I remember one of the Ice Planet officers on Krysto referred to her as "Commander" but no other name was given.

Your favorite Space themed set?
Sonic Screwdriver replied to Sonic Screwdriver's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I really wanted one of those when I was a kid... I think it cost 50-60 $US which was waaaaay more than I could buy back in the day, heh. I would stare at the Deep Freeze Defender in the Lego catalogs and dream of owning a starship like that. I liked the dual cockpits and shuttle bay. There was a built in rocket launcher too, as I recall. I know a lot of people did not favor Ice Planet much, but I liked it a lot. The mini-figures had serious looking uniforms and I still like the antennae on the helmet visors. I own a couple of the smaller Ice Planet vehicles. -
Greetings! What set are you interested in?

Thanks for all your well wishes! I rebuilt a Particle Ionizer from the old M:Tron series and am working on a Blacktron 2 Alpha Centauri Outpost. See you all around! -
I have been assembling a couple of my old sets, and the Particle Ionizer (M:Tron, 6923) is my favorite Space set. I always liked this set because it had a lot more components and features than the smaller sets, yet its price was low enough (in the neighborhood of 15-20 $US back in 1990 I think) that I could afford to buy one. I like the streamlined, fast look of the ship, the variable geometry wings, the spinning sensor cluster on top, the droid housed in the midsection, and the crane+cargo box? in the rear compartment. The included tools for the droid and mini-figure are a nice touch as well. I am hard pressed to think of another mid-sized set that has this much functionality. Construction overall is pretty sturdy. The keel of the Particle Ionizer is built around two solid 1x16 black bricks, and a 2x10 red plate reinforces the structure of the top of the ship. What's your favorite Space themed set?

Woah, these new space Legos seem very strange to me. The last set I ever built from a new box was probably an Ice Planet or Spyrius (1993/4?) item. Looking at the parts on the Space Police 5981 Raid VPR, I see some familiar pieces, and some items that are unfamiliar. I've noticed that many of the Lego space sets use underlying structures built on the "classical" type of Lego component, and have more specifically shaped pieces for the exteriors. The exterior parts seem a bit odd to me, as they seem less flexible than the traditional parts in terms of their versatility. Stickers are also a bit of a shock to me... 20 years ago this was unheard of! I like the alien Rench -- the references to Blacktron and Blacktron 2 are quite funny. I also really like the smooth blue cockpit of the VPR. I think all of my clear window and cockpit pieces are of the angular polygon type. Nice to see this new style. Wouldn't mind having a squadron or two of these Vipers, and a Battlestar to launch them!

Hi KDog, I own a lot of Classic Space, Futron, Blacktron 2, M:Tron, Space Police, and so on. I started re-assembling some of these sets. Your comic stories are really funny and sure bring back a lot of memories. Just started reading from the beginning -- this is great! Reminds me of all the adventures my friends and I had with our Lego characters.

Maybe it was passing by a Lego store the other day that gave me the idea to get my bricks out of storage. They have been sealed in a large beat up box for probably 15 years. Amazingly, many of them are as good as new. The M:Tron pieces still have that glowing green hue, and the printed bricks have really held up well and don't even look scratched. Looks like I have some Classic Space, Futron, Space Police and Blacktron 2 as well, all in good shape. Nice that they hold up so well... some of this stuff is probably 20-25 years old.
