You have the right to think what you want, darthperson, but being part of a mature discussion means to accept that the same is true for everybody else too. If you´re not able to show some tolerance toward the opinions of others you should seriously withhold yourself from posting in this topic. Offense to other people´s no way to contribute to a sincere exchange of thoughts! Again, you have the right to be angry, but you simply don´t have the right to insult, indirectly nor directly, other people here on EB because you think that their opinion´s wrong or tasteless. You don´t need to butter up everyone, though. We´re not a playground for Teletubbies on Prozac either, but you should be well able of trying to convince other persons with profound arguments and by propounding your own point of view in a calm and reasonable way, if you feel the need to do so. The same applies to everybody else too. We all should be well able to show that EB´s a place for constructive and interesting discussions and not just some kind of kindergarten for a bunch of LEGO maniacs... So, that´s enough sober reasoning for now... its´time for me to drink my glass of milk and go to bed. Mr. Sandman´s waiting to bring me a dream...

I don´t have any insider informations about the intentions behind these two different sets of pics we´re talking bout here. I don´t know if it´s supposed to be art, some graphic finger exercise or whatever. But it made me think a little, especially that TV thing... hmm. For that pic of Warhol´s tomato soup screenprint... it´s all about the definition of what is art and what not, as well as about the problematics of art that contains copyrighted material. Lawsuits in that department can last for several years... Beside that, Warhol´s work was not always widely appreciated as art, and if said soup can can become a subject to art, a mocked advert can can too... everything´s able to become a subject to art. It´s complicated, and sometimes it just makes you wonder; or hungry... are we already sure that this is more than a simple can of soup? I better should go and look for the tin opener... being prepared is everything. Move on, history of art, and pick you another victim.

Um... welcome to the wonderful world of trademarks, copyrights, fair use and art (if this probably is what we´re talking about here)... Well... um. That´s fine, thanks for your generosity, my dear fellow... but I´m still hoping for the sake of the separation of powers that no ambassadors´re ever in a tight spot of making such decisions for us here in our News & General Discussion forum... or anywhere else beyond The Embassy... there´s a certain clash of interests occasionally and it seems a little like you´re caught between two stools in that case... What would you want to do if LEGO doesn´t like these pics... closing the topic? On EB? That's a bit thick, we´re not solely responsible to TLC, and there´re no legal steps we would´ve to fear from TLC for deep linking them. We shouldn´t sacrifice our autonomy just to break a butterfly on a wheel. However, I don´t really care on what some corporate lawyers´re wasting their time. I´m not working for The Man, and I don´t think that these pics´re able to hurt the credibility of LEGO, at least not in the presumed context or by their appraisable promulgation. But I also think that we´ve an interesting and mature discussion going on here, and if your brick cop work allows you a little spare time it would be nice if you could decide to let us know what you´re actually thinking about that 'ballgame', beside the obvious fact that it´s somehow important for you to show these pics to TLC... Are these pics a bad joke? Some student´s marketing or graphic homework? An attempt at art? Is there a message written in the cornfield? Don´t feel forced to answer, though. I´m only curious if you see room herein for some interesting interpretations or thoughts. Seriously, whatever floats your boat is completely alright with me.

A wonderful work with a very intense approach to detail and accuracy indeed!

You´re married to a Classic Space Girl..? Wow, how lucky you are... Hello and welcome to the pretty green-eyed side of the brick!

Very lovely, very elegant... and very fast looking too, almost like two racing trucks.

A very cool work. The eyes look creepingly brilliant... I hope they´ll not hunt me in my dreams...

REVIEW: 8273, Off Road Truck
Asuka replied to Front's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for that very good review of a pretty nice set, Front. -
Wow, what an impressive and simply amazing work... beautiful! Wouldn´t quite fit into my bathtub, though...
-
A very cool and smart work. Flower power on!
-
A very fine work! The facade looks beautiful and well detailed, the color scheme works great and the interior´s lovely and neatly detailed too, I love that little lamp design! And the graffiti signing´s simply hilarious!
-
A very fine work! The timber framing looks very interesting and I like especially these two charming oriels and the neat window design.

But that´s where the drift of that campaign is misfired. Destroyed things can be rebuild, yes, but the real tragedy in these pics is the loss of all those people´s lives. All that personal (and universal) horror... And of course these lives can never be replaced, especially not with some MFs... (I know you´re of course not saying so, Eilif). The LEGO connection here works strong in the provocation department, but the relevance´s limping. 'Rebuild it', perhaps in another context... maybe. Provoking thoughts throughout art is not a bad thing, and cynicism can lead to some interesting results too. I have no idea what exactly the intentions of that person who made the second set of pics in this topic are. Perhaps... to rebuild something somewhat must be build at first... everything´s a result of something, somehow... could a different foreign policy help to prevent terroristic attacks? A better intelligence? Could the harm caused by floods and storms be mellowed if politicians would decide to spend more money on precautionary measures? Are our living conditions contributing to the (assumed) increasing of ecological calamities? So many theoretical possibilities... however, I think there´s a distinct shadow of doubt clouding the honesty of that second person´s intentions... But it´s hard to judge without knowing more.

Hello and welcome to the already well addicted side of the brick...

A very neat work. Both space cycles look original and varied, and I like especially the a little more beefy Gold Ray. These control sticks of your Amber Charge (cool name) remind me a bit too much of some gym machine, though. Very nice backgrounds, again.

A fine and pretty arcane looking manor indeed, a fascinating story and a very interesting genesis. Well done!
-
Thanks Calvin for bringing this up, I think that´s a pretty interesting artwork. And an intelligent one too. It´s never all too wrong to call our consumption and perception of media into question... I like the size of the pics in that special case. It made it more easily for me to evaluate their quality. The pics you posted, Bricks, are a different matter for sure. 'Rebuild it', in that special context, is a very sardonic and improper message IMHO.

A very distinct looking truck with a good color scheme and very fine details like these railings or the steps on the sides with the stickers. But shouldn´t there be something on the rear to protect the load from slipping through..?
-
A wonderful work! The usage of engine block pieces for wheels is brilliant, the front section looks really cool and the sleek backside with these trans red cones looks great too! All in all a very fine reminiscence of a classic vintage car, beautifully transformed into some fancy future incarnation.
-
A nice microscale spaceship and a good use of these two colored spike pieces... I guess I need to get a few of them too... they look awesome in that color scheme.
-
A very fine MOD that adds a lot to the fidelity and playability of that otherwise pretty cool set. I really wonder why TLC didn´t incorporate something like that from the start...
-
A very large city that is, impressive for sure although it also looks a little disjointed due to the lack of coherent street design. I especially like that picture of that mighty concourse of MFs... splendid!
-
A nice little plaza and a neat band. The sculpture looks fine too. But if the stage´s a permanent installation it would perhaps making more sense if the benches would face it...
-
A distinct looking house with a well detailed and nice interior. I like especially that interesting window arrangement of the ground floor, the balcony with the columns and that protruding corner section.
